Marvel: The Foundation

The MCU is already a perilous realm, fraught with danger at every turn. But for a crimelord like myself, it's a whole other level of risk, especially with heroes lurking around every corner. And if that weren't daunting enough, now I have to contend with the added uncertainty of encountering at least one completely random SCP every month. How many of these anomalies would it take to trigger an XK-class event? Well, here's hoping I get some favorable ones, allowing me not only to survive but also to flourish in this treacherous environment.

100: milestone Q&A

One hundred chapters down, what a trip it has been. Though I really don't feel we got all that far…

I will take this chance here to answer some questions and share some thoughts and my future plans.

Let's start off with the big question of Why.

Q: Why this project?

A: I first got the Idea for this project back in 2022 when I found the novel "Ohh Shit, I'm in Marvel" on Webnovel. The work was a translation and while I do honestly believe that the translator did an amazing job.

The source material he was working with just had a few problems, but overall, I really did enjoy it.

What's more, I really enjoyed the idea of it. Later, I tried to find something like it but found very few SCP fanfics.

Since I couldn't find any, I got the idea of making my own.

I know that plenty of you have felt the similarities between the two stories, and yes, I did let myself be inspired by it. Just made the changes I felt would be good.

Q: Are the SCPs truly random?

A: The way I have been doing it so far has some elements of randomness to it, but I picked other objects.

When I did the big 28 SCP summon following the first death of the MC, I only picked a single one myself; the rest were fully randomly chosen.

Other times, I have semi-randomly chosen the objects, skipping over those too dangerous for the current point in the story.

Very few of them were directly picked by me.

Q: why go with random SCPs?

A: The SCP universe has more than 8,000 entries for objects, some of which are far more famous than others. The novel I took my inspiration from started off really strong with all the big famous objects, like SCP-173 and SCP 682.

What I wanted by making them random was to also showcase some of the less interesting ones, like a bag with infinite potatoes or an owl that throws up gold.

Q: Are the X-man going to be part of this universe?

A: I have so far introduced a single mutant. Fury tells Tony Stark about a bigger world, here he mentions mutants.

My problem with fully adding in the X-man universe with the MCU one is the very real question of what is the Foundation's stance going to be.

Personally I am very pro mutant, and if I ever where to make a mutant focused story I would very much show the brotherhood as the anti-heroes rather than the bad guys.

For this story, I have left a single option for the greater X-man team to make an appearance, though I am still unsure if I will go for it. And if I do, it won't be just accepting that they have been there the whole time.

So, while it is possible to see a few mutants show up here and there, the entire universe likely won't overlap with the main universe here.

Q: Will there be romance?

A: This isn't yet decided, I am leaving the possibility very much open.

Q: How strong will the MC become?

A: Members of the O5 council are properly the most powerful people in the SCP universe. Their access to a large number of SCP objects makes them a group of true powerhouses.

They are all also very much shrouded in mystery and might even be SCP objects themselves.

Alexander will become a Powerhouse, but he won't be down fighting side by side with Tony or Thor. If he ever gets into a fight, it will be a small thing or maybe the use of another life.

Or he will be decked out in SCP objects and just be an unbeatable god.

I do have plans that will allow him to take a more active position while not risking himself more than just the new suit.

Q: Why make him O5-1 and not the Founder/Administrator?

A: The SCP universe is full of different lines of thinking when it comes to anything being above the council. The line of thought I am going for has none above it. Why? That will be revealed later.

Q: What's up with the system?

A: The system is shrouded in mysteries that will all be revealed in the future; it is, in essence, just there to force the MC to bring in SCPs since I can't think of anyone who would possibly do that without being forced to.

More will be revealed in the future about its nature and future role.

Q: what about Points? Will they ever see more uses?

A: it has been a long while since I last mentioned the points in the story, and they won't play that big of a role.

There are just so many ways to get them that they won't be rare anymore. The biggest reason I had them was because they were there in the inspiration piece, and I wanted to show off Alex being rewarded for being the Foundation and SCPs secret, which will still happen, just without points being as much as a thing.

Q: why another Alex?

A: Firstly, it was bad timing; when I wrote the first 20 or so chapters, the year was 2022, and there weren't many people around. Secondly, all will be revealed in time.

Finally, some thoughts from me.

This is my first writing project of this size, so I have learned a lot as I write, and I still am.

As stated before, I started writing this because I felt there wasn't a lot of SCP fanfic out there. So, I am very much writing this as something I personally would enjoy reading.

I enjoy reading a chapter every day—well, in fact, I would prefer more than just one… but I also enjoy them nice and long. So, given that I have to write them rather than read them, it will just be the one.

It also means lots of chapters away from the MC, as those are some of my favorites to read.

This has had the unexpected effect of really dragging things out. I mean, the first 23 chapters span 6 months, something the next 80 failed to do.

This was never planned; while I wanted to go slow to build up the Foundation into a powerhouse before really starting the Marvel plots, I never did expect it to take this many chapters.

I had planned to wait two years before starting the Ironman plot, but that didn't happen, so I pushed that forward.

This was to allow me to use more elements of the Marvel world sooner as I felt that it was starting to become time for that.

We will all get to see our favorite Avengers square up against some of our favorite SCPs, and we will get to see them learn about the Foundation in their own way. This is the main goal with this fanfic, so 343 help me, it shall be so!

The containment of SCP objects is more then just fighting against something, a big part is about finding them, this idea has lead to some objects being summoned and still haven't appeared.

There are multiple reasons why, but other then lacking the proper time is that I do want the feel that the world is massive, and finding a random magic penny in the huge world isn't easy.

---------------------

Now for a few words about my future plans.

Firstly I have no plans on stopping the story until it ends.

There are two possible ways it ends: either it reaches a point in the post-infinity saga where it feels fine to end things, or the world ends due to an XK-class event caused by an SCP object. This story will have an end, even if I rush it if I become unable to continued it. And if that does happen, I will try and leave in the option of a world 2.0.

In the shorter term, with the release of Chapter 100, I will also open a new tier on p.a.t.r.e.o.n.c.o.m / SCPsystem, which will give access to 5 new extra chapters, allowing members of that tier to be 10 chapters ahead of public release.

Furthermore, another tier, which will also give 10 chapters, will also open. This one, however, will have the added benefit of allowing members to each choose an SCP object every month to summon into the world.

This has been the plan since long ago. One of the reasons I summoned them at random was so I didn't get too used to having control over them and would be used to dealing with all kinds of objects.

I have, therefore, long since made plans for dealing with someone trying to bring about the end of the world. So, no need to worry. I have everything under control…

No, but for real, I doubt many will take the option, and getting some more Objects summoned would be good, I can't let the world get too peaceful after all.
