Terrible Inference

In the living room, Max sat casually on the floor, taking a moment to rest. Mariko sat a little farther away, her arms wrapped around her knees, aligning herself parallel to Max. This positioning allowed her to prevent Max from seeing more of her body than necessary. Despite her impeccable and distinguished appearance, Max didn't pay much attention to it.

The dried bloodstains on both of his hands served as a reminder of the recent ordeal. His forearm still throbbed from the kick he had received from Wolverine earlier, but Max paid it no mind.

He was simply awaiting the phone call from Yashida Shingen before taking Mariko with him. Without the tracker, Yukio and Wolverine shouldn't be able to locate this place. With this brief respite, Max contemplated the future.

His primary objective remained the acquisition of the samurai armor crafted by Shirada Ichiro, followed by Wolverine's remarkable self-healing ability. However, the latter was a long shot, so Max focused his energy on securing the samurai armor. This armor, made of Adamantium, boasted exceptional defensive capabilities. Furthermore, the pair of Katanas it came with had the potential to sever Wolverine's steel claws, also made of Adamantium, with their incredible destructive power. This was what Max coveted the most.

The combat instincts ingrained in his mercenary background had become second nature. Currently, he lacked the time and energy to develop his Fruit Ability, and he suspected that it wouldn't be an easy task to accomplish.

Thus, the samurai armor was his top priority.

If the events followed the movie's plot, Yashida Ichiro would meet his demise, rendering the samurai armor useless, and Mariko would survive until the end. However, considering Mariko's resilience, her scheme to gain control of the family's assets wasn't as straightforward as a mere "kidnapping." She likely had plans to contend with Yashida Shingen.

Shingen's fate was inconsequential.

The employment task had been completed, and whether he lived or died didn't matter.

What was crucial was whether Mariko knew that her grandfather's death was orchestrated by Yashida Ichiro. Yukio, who was evidently with Mariko, possessed the ability to predict others' deaths. If Mariko had knowledge of this, she would undoubtedly devise a plan to confront Yashida Ichiro.

How would she handle it?

Mariko was just an ordinary individual, even with the addition of Yukio's abilities. Even if she managed to deceive Harada, her childhood sweetheart and the ex-leader of the Black Ninja Clan, dealing with Shida Ichiro's samurai armor would not be a simple task.

And then, there was Wolverine.

Wolverine indeed seemed to have some complex feelings regarding Mariko, and Yukio's actions were clearly aimed at triggering Wolverine's protective instincts. Mariko, on the other hand, appeared to skillfully manipulate Wolverine to achieve her objectives. It was becoming apparent to Max that Mariko had concealed her vulnerable side, possibly indicating a long-standing plan to take control of the family's power. This raised the question of why her grandfather had entrusted the company to her.

Mariko had grown up hearing stories about Wolverine from her grandfather, knowing that he had an enduring fascination with Wolverine's Regenerative Healing Factor Ability. With this knowledge, it became clear that if Mariko had the idea of obtaining Wolverine's ability, it would be relatively straightforward. 

Also how easy it was for Ichiro to find Viper. If Mariko had also orchestrated the presence of the Viper, then as progress was made in locating Wolverine, Yashida Ichiro's plan for suspended animation would naturally come into play. Mariko, who had shown little interest in managing the family and the company, would likely be better prepared than Shida Shingen. Moreover, Shida Shingen's failure to obtain the company would almost certainly lead him to take action against Mariko.

Mariko had designed her own kidnapping, using Wolverine to rescue her. In the process, she rid herself of her politically arranged fiancé along with her father Shingen, and ultimately eliminated Ichiro her grandfather.

If this plan succeeded, no one would suspect that Mariko had secretly orchestrated it all.

Considering how easily Mariko was kidnapped in the movie and her formidable skills with flying darts, it seemed that she possessed a significant level of skill.

Ultimately, the one who would benefit from this elaborate scheme would be Mariko herself. With her grandfather and father dead, she will inherit all the family business.

It was intriguing to ponder why Yukio chose to leave with Wolverine instead of staying with Mariko. 

The more Max contemplated these details, the more plausible this alternative perspective seemed. It was becoming increasingly evident that this seemingly fragile woman possessed a hidden and formidable power.
