The next few days were spent just as planned with our group slowly spreading the word to friends and family getting us our first downloads.
Peter was able to get Uncle Ben and Aunt May to bring it up in conversations at their workplaces. Aunt May especially ended up being the most enthusiastic about it and practically advertised it for us with her fellow staff members at the hospital and her friends in the charity program she helped out in.
While Gwen came through as promised and got her father to share it with his coworkers In the police department. He also complimented Gwen on it mentioning how efficient it was even wanting to know where she had heard about it.
Faced with that question she only said her friends shared it with her and didn't mention her involvement with a brand new and bussing company.
When she explained this to us she seemed embarrassed but understood where she was coming from. Her father was a good man but he was also strict and would probably ban her from being involved in this when she already had lots of stuff to focus on alongside her job at Oscorp.
All In all, this brought us a couple hundred downloads in the first couple of days but they quickly jumped to thousands within the week.
We had no idea why this happened so fast. Even I was confused with the speed at which the app was spreading. This wasn't some sort of fun game app or social media one so it didn't make sense for it to spread so fast especially when the only advertisement we had was word of mouth.
At Least until we discovered why then everything became clear.
Ned was the man responsible for the surge of subscriptions. His postings in the forums and discords had generated a buzz in the online community.
The app was exactly the type of thing they were looking for, easily blocking others from tracking their IP and protecting them from hackers. Its ease of access and cheap subscriptions also helped draw in more customers.
I couldn't help but be surprised at how fast the numbers were growing. Thankfully I had already added measures to the app to unsubscribe users who were doing illegal activity. I didn't want criminals using my app after all.
The first day only had 24 downloads but swiftly changed within 3 days to 9,578 and counting!
Most people used the paid version instead of the free one, seeing the cheap charge of 7.99 as spare change and worth the money. Surprisingly we even had people already starting to buy the premium version that was priced at 100$ a month.
Their numbers were small, however, merely being around 14 people.
Damn, I really feel like giving Ned a hug right now. He really hit the mark on bringing it to the discords and forums.
It also makes sense why it was such a hit with them since they should technically be closer to what our target audience is. Heck, even I'd probably buy this if I could in my last world.
It was always so annoying when trolls would shove your IP at you in Discord saying they knew where you lived. I even lost a computer before because of a hacker putting a punch of viruses. Definitely not good times.
Glancing back at my new laptop I couldn't help but smile in satisfaction. We were already nearing $50,000 in earnings so I was able to treat myself a bit.
The others didn't know about how much we had made yet since it was linked to my bank account but I couldn't wait to show them.
Hm, I can probably move soon as well I wonder where I shou… however before I could finish that thought I heard the familiar alarm of my computer as I checked the app's notification.

W-what
Everything was happening too fast. Messages just like the first two began to spam on my laptop.
I wasn't an idiot so I quickly realized what was going on. Someone or more specifically multiple people were trying to hack into the app itself.
Obviously, it wasn't successful but this seemed to agitate whoever was trying because it went from 1 or 2 hackers to a bit over 50 and counting.
At some point, I began to realize what these guys were doing. They were trying to overwhelm the program which wouldn't work thanks to how I designed it but that didn't make me feel any better.

Well shit
…
Inside a brightly lit room, the sound of fingers pressing keyboards echoed as multiple error sounds echoed and every now and then a curse word or two could be heard as well out of annoyance.
While this was happening a tall black man in a trench coat watched this with one eye. His expression was hard to discern as he tapped his fingers.

Another man stood beside hesitating on whether or not he should interrupt him when he was clearly busy thinking about something.
Finally the man with a receding hairline stepped forward.

"Sir are attempts have been unsuccessful so far and instead we have actually had a couple of our computers infected with a virus repeating the same video over and over again."
Nick Fury raised his eyebrow at this
"Lead the way Coulson" Nick said as he gestured to the section with clearly troubled IT men as they were trying to fix something.
Walking over the problem easily became apparent as all the screens showed a comical scene from Looney Tunes with a road runner going beep beep as it ran from a coyote.
"Do we have any info at least on this new company Dagon Technologies?"
"Some sir, it was recently registered 6 days ago, and from what we could discover it is being run by a group of high school students"
Saying this he pulled out separate folders with the names Gwen Stacey, Ned Leeds, and Peter Parker.
Taking out a fourth folder he handed it to Fury which had the name Kol Dagon.
"We believe that this one may be responsible for the company with his name clearly stated on the company."
Nick took the folder and began to examine the information inside but was displeased to see that it didn't help much and just had basic info.
An orphan who was going to Midtown high and was allowed to live alone. His grades were below average and his Physique was also below average. The only thing he had going for him was the fact that he was a bit handsome but being so skinny didn't really help his appeal.
"Is this all we have?"
"As of now, yes sir. However, we noticed something else while investigating the students." Next Phil handed him the folder of Peter
"What's special about this one?"
"It's not him but who he's related to. His parents were Richard and Mary Parker, two agents who had infiltrated Oscorp but went missing."
This subject seemed to draw more of Fury's attention as he held the two folders of the students.
"Coulson I want the level of this case raised and I want agents on the ground watching them. I want to know every little thing about them. I don't even want them to sleep without me being."
"Yes sir"
"And how's the search for Stark?"
Coulson looked down for a moment before shaking his head
"Not much progress there sir we know he's with the ten rings but we haven't been able to find exactly where he is. The desert is a large place with many places to hide."
Fury nodded in agreement before looking back at his agents trying to hack into the App called specter.
