This Isn't Kansas?

He didn't know where he was. He didn't know what was happening. Kamen flitted in and out of consciousness, eventually losing all concept of time. How long he'd really been in this state was a mystery to him. All he could tell was that he seemed to be moving forward, pulled by an indescribable force deeper into the complete darkness surrounding him. This state of tranquility seemed to be able to continue forever. Eventually, space shifted, thrusting him outside the darkness.

Kamen, suspended in midair, opened his eyes groggily, only to be greeted with the most amazing sight he'd ever seen. It looked as if he was in outer space. Stars were all around him, and surrounding him on all sides were masses of green land that looked like immortal paradises. All sorts of mythical creatures roamed the islands, with a multitude of beings he'd never even heard about. Rivers flowed out from the islands, forming waterfalls that simply fell into space. But the most amazing thing was before him.

A gargantuan tree, the likes of which he'd never seen encompassed an entire floating island, the canopy of which served as shade for miles on end. Only through gaps in the branches, and below Kamen could stars be seen. The tree gave off a powerful aura of vitality, and just looking at it made Kamen feel warm. In the vicinity of the tree, glowing lights roamed and frolicked as Kamen was pulled ever closer.

Whatever mysterious force pulled him here dissipated as he arrived at the landmass on which the tree was stationed. Glancing up at the tree, Kamen felt indescribably drawn to it. From the outer edge of the island to the tree's base span quite a distance, but he walked regardless. As for extraneous matters like where he was, or what had happened he didn't really care at the moment.

After an indeterminate period of time walking, his legs ached and his body hurt, but he reached the tree regardless. Reaching out to touch the tree, his hand made first contact.

*Bzzt*

As soon as he touched the tree, a burning pain as if his blood was made of lava began to flood his body.

"Aaargh!"

Kamen fell on the ground screaming, incapable of withstanding the intense pain he felt.

While yelling out his indecipherable pleas for help, one of the millions of glowing lights surrounding the tree hovered down to him.

Without a moment's pause, the light touched him, upon which he lost conciousness.
