Killing Flame Salamanders

The wilderness beyond the city's borders was a perilous realm, teeming not only with numerous creatures but also with savage hunters who preyed upon fellow humans. This treacherous territory was fraught with danger, making survival a daunting challenge for ordinary individuals.

The special train, managed by the Federation, served as a crucial means of transport, leading to the most dangerous but resource-rich places. It was heavily protected by strong individuals and high-tech weapons, making it a much more secure way of travelling.

Obtaining a hunter's license was a simple matter of filling out information and submitting it, yet it was an important means of identity for utilizing various Federation facilities.

Augustus appeared at the station and waited for about ten minutes for the special hunter train. When it arrived, he hopped on to begin his journey.

Inside the train, he sat at a window seat in a corner, quietly waiting for his stop. When he reached his destination, he disembarked at the Iron Firebase station, which was close to the volcanoes he was heading towards.

The base station served as a hub for all sorts of individuals—hunters, dealers, mercenaries, and others. This place was famous for its special iron ore, and numerous blacksmith stores crafted armour, weapons, and various other items. These weapons were used by different kinds of transcendent beings, such as Mages, Martial Artists, Awakeners, and Mutants.

Being a Mage was not the most popular path to transcendence, as it required a high element synchronization rate and a strong spirit. Instead, the old-fashioned martial arts were the most accessible starting point; almost anyone could try to become a martial artist, though achieving true strength still demanded talent and substantial resources.

If Augustus hadn't had the talent of a Mage, he would have pursued the martial arts path, the only means for ordinary people to gain higher status and power.

Awakeners, on the other hand, relied entirely on luck, with maybe one in a million individuals awakening special powers such as controlling lightning or fire, strength enhancement, speed enhancement, and many others.

It can also be some useless power, like increasing hair growth, or something very important for humanity, like increasing d*ck size or breast enlargement.

Lastly, mutants were artificially created through unique drugs and medicines, requiring cutting-edge technology and large sums of money.

This path was typically pursued by corporations or the wealthy. Every corporation maintained an army of mutants for dirty work and even ran secret labs conducting inhuman experiments.

Despite the atrocities, nothing could be done as these corporations were powerful and had support from within the Federation.

Augustus quickly used his GPS to track the location where a group of Flame Salamanders had been last seen.

He didn't waste time and immediately followed the GPS, heading outside the base city.

The area was hot, being close to an active volcano. Others might have been sweating, even those transcendent beings with superpowers like Awakeners or Martial Artists, but he felt nothing due to his high synchronization rate with fire elements and his status as a fire mage.

As he moved, he rapidly absorbed the fire element ether, or mana, enhancing his strength with each step.

It was as if he was in a warm bath, feeling completely comfortable.

After walking for an hour, he finally arrived at the last place where Flame Salamanders were sighted. He was quite close to the volcano, where the temperature had already risen to an abnormal level, well above a hundred degrees Celsius.

An ordinary human would have been cooked alive in such an environment, but for Augustus, it was paradise. The concentration of fire element ether here far surpassed that of the city; if he stayed here for some time, he could achieve a breakthrough in his fire mage ranks.

But he couldn't afford to linger, his primary objective being to locate the Flame Salamanders. This perilous place teemed with danger, inhabited by numerous fire elemental beasts roaming freely.

The presence of Flame Salamanders in the vicinity suggested a nearby nest. Augustus pressed forward, guided by his keen intuition of fire elements, towards areas with higher concentrations of fire ether. Salamanders typically nest in regions rich with these elements, and by following their trail, he hoped to pinpoint their exact location.

Augustus began to follow his senses, and after his talent improvement, he could accurately perceive and feel the flow of fire element energy as if it were an extension of his own body. After diligently following these instincts for some time, he finally discovered something of interest.

He found a small group of three Flame Salamanders circling the area like guards. After carefully surveying the surroundings, he stealthily approached the group, hiding behind a rock.

The strength of these three Salamanders was formidable, but Augustus felt confident he could handle them on his own.

He quickly chanted, and a fire arrow materialized beside him, floating and emitting tremendous heat. Its intense energy was enough to pierce the beasts' hard scales and roast them swiftly.

But that wasn't the end. A second fire arrow appeared beside him, emitting the same dangerous heat. After his improvement in talent and synchronization rate with the fire element, he was now able to control two spells simultaneously.

He focused on two of the three Flame Salamanders and aimed the fire arrows at them.

"Attack!"

The two large flame arrows shot forward with incredible speed, catching the Salamanders off guard until the last moment.

But it was too late. The fire arrows pierced their scales with immense power and compressed heat.

Boom! Boom!

The two Flame Salamanders died quickly, unable to react. Even with their flame resistance, they were not immune to the super fire arrows. The intense heat and force of the attack left only one Flame Salamander standing.

The only remaining Salamander roared in fury as it saw its two companions fall. It leapt towards Augustus, having pinpointed his location.
