Augustus replied blandly and was going to hang up, but immediately, James said something important to him.

"Don't hang up; I have the news about the things you wanted."

"Where tell quickly."

"Most of the things I already collected for you with my connections, but the one last rare material is in someone's hand and is asking a quite heavy price."

"How much is he asking?"

"50,000 Star Crystals!"

"Hmm... Give him." After a moment of silence, Augustus spoke in a calm and cold voice.

"Bro, are you going to pay this much? Although it is rare, if you wait for half a year, I can definitely find another one."

"The price is too much; it is such a loss.'

James tried to tell him, but he did not seem to wait anymore.

"Just buy it; I will transfer the money later."

After saying this, he hung up and took off his glasses. He came out of the room and looked at the city outside, standing on his balcony, feeling a bit of melancholy as he looked at skyscrapers and numerous flying vehicles in the sky.

As this is not the early twenty-first century, but the new era that is more than six hundred years in the future. A future with advanced technology and unknown mysteries.

In 2025, the moon was suddenly destroyed by the collision of mysterious asteroids, which shocked all the countries and humans on Earth. 

But it was far from over, as after the destruction of the moon, many smaller fragments of the asteroid in the form of meteorites fell on earth, causing calamitic destruction throughout the world.

All this happened so quickly that the authorities couldn't do anything. No space agency in the world saw this coming, and because of a lack of preparation, millions or billions died in this calamity.

According to historical reports, less than two billion humans survived out of the eight billion people on earth.

This situation destroyed every economy, and some small countries were even in a severe situation of being destroyed.

Floods and droughts happened one after another in various parts of the world, and food became scarce as meteorites destroyed and damaged the earth's ecosystem.

But as the surviving government tried to control the situation, a new and shocking problem caused the chaos to increase many times.

Those meteorites not only destroyed the ecosystem but seemed to have brought an unknown substance or a new source of energy that changed the entire planet.

Whether it was plants or animals, they all mutated and evolved because of the mysterious energy that messed up the already f**ked-up situation.

The mysterious energy is now called ether. Different cultures or religions previously had various names for this kind of energy like qi, ki, mana, or chakra, that were supposed to be in myths or stories, but after the calamity, they became real.

Humans also mutated because of the ether, and one after another, superhumans started to appear, which made already severed society chaotic to the point that most countries fell because of the civil wars.

Individuals with power surpassing that of weapons started to fight to gain control, and primitive desires to rule over others took root in their minds. Many believed they were above humans as they had powers similar to those of gods, which led to multiple wars in different parts of the world.

The world at that time was hell, as mutated beasts roamed outside. Murder, arson, kidnapping, rapes and other terrible crimes were norms that continued for more than half a century. Human life was so terrible that dying in some beast's mouth was considered lucky.

But under the rigorous management of multiple strong countries that came together and created a 'Federation of Union Countries', that slowly brought back order in the world.

But the damage was already done, and it took many years for the pain, anger, and desperation to disappear from people's hearts.

And now, after six hundred, or to be precise, six hundred twenty years later in the new era, Augustus was sighing as he looked outside.

As he was someone with his own eyes, he saw the destruction of the moon and the beginning of the calamity that swept the world.
