CHAPTER 18

LARA

I smile as soon as I open my eyes. Scott is peacefully sleeping beside me, with a soft snore coming out of his slightly parted lips. I slowly sat up, wincing, and leaned on the headboard. My body hurts, but it is bearable now.

I picked up my phone that was on top of my bedside table. Maybe someone found it when I dropped it on the road. I looked at Scott to check if he was still sleeping before dialing the number. I forgot to call for almost three months now.

I smile when it rings, and after three rings, someone answers it.

"Sissy!!!!! I cursed inside and quickly distanced the phone from my ear when I heard his high-pitched voice.

"Can you turn down your voice? You're making me deaf." I whispered. I wanted to scream back, but I didn't want to wake up Scott.
