Witcher

She came out from behind the tree she was hiding. The man walked towards her, "Now what the hell were you looking for in a forest like this, elf girl?" he questioned her, not that he was actually concerned though.

"That was dark magic, you are either a male witch or...a witcher," she blatantly ignored his question.

The man squatted in front of her,

"Yes, I am a witcher and I just saved you from a monster-"

"What type of a monster was that?" Luisa cuts in. The man creased his brows at her, but he answered her question anyway.

"That was a leidion, nightmare of the forest. It appears for during the night, it doesn't really appear at this time because it is almost dawn but I guess you smelt too good for it to resist (Smiles)"

"I have heard of it but I haven't really seen any drawings of it so I couldn't recognize it, it is really scary, does it really talk?" Luisa asked as the witcher was talking to the creature throughout the fight.

"Not really. Witchers only try to understand monsters just as you try to understand a pet," he answered, trying to be so patient with the little elf girl.

"Hmm...Now that that's done with. Take me to your parents, I just saved you from a monster and as a witcher you owe me some coins," he added.

"I don't have parents," Luisa replied sadly.

"What? No parents, no guardians, no older siblings that can pay me back?" he asked and she nodded her head. He bit his lower lip,

"Tsk...Fine, consider it your lucky day," He responded and stood up to leave.

"And stay away from the forest," he added.

"Wait!" Luisa called and he halted in his long strides.

"You can't just leave me here," she pointed out.

"Oh why not shortie? (Sighs)...You want me to escort you home?" he asked but she shook her head.

"Then what is it? We don't have any more business with each other," he responded, matter of fact.

"Of course we do. I haven't paid you yet," she objected.

"And how are you going to do that?" he asked.

"Take me with you...I want to become a witcher like you," she proposed. The

Witcher bursted into laughter.

"Okay, okay...Hmm, you? You want to become a witcher. Firstly, I don't see how I will benefit from that. (Stops laughing abruptly and his gaze on her suddenly turned cold and icy)...And secondly, I will pass." he started walking away from her and so, she rushed towards him.

"Wait...I'm volunteering. I want to become a witcher, I have heard so much about you witchers and I know you train yourselves right from my age," She insisted.

He stopped walking and faced her, he glared down at her and it almost terrified her but she was determined and won't let herself be intimidated.

"Witchery is no easy task for little girls, shortie. Isn't your elf village the one by the side, go home!" he ordered her and she bowed her head a little.

"And it is a place for little boys? I don't have a home and I have nothing and no one to return to, that...That village was just attacked by vampires and they killed...everyone! And I'm the only survivor, if you think I'm lying, you can go take a look." she responded.

Her eyes already tearing up. She has heard so much about the witchers, how they were almost indestructible and invincible.

If she becomes that strong, she will be able to map out the group of vampires that did this to her clan and she would wipe them away from the face of this earth. This was her only chance so she might as well just grab it.

"No need for me to look, the news will soon spread any way and that explains the blood on your dress," he replied. It was true but even at that, the vampires will still get away from such crime and the news will eventually die off.

"But the vampires can't attack just like that, it's either your clan has deeply offended the higher ups of the vampire society to warrant this or there is a single maniac driven by a motive and he is in charge of pulling the strings.

"I sympathize with you but it is not enough for you to tag along with me. The least I can do for you is take you to an orphanage, what are you...maybe six or eight or something. Or better still, I will sell you off so in that way you will be able to pay me back," he elaborated deeply.

"I'm ten and no! I want to be a witcher," she responded.

"Wow...You are short," he muttered.

"I-I will pay you back once I earn my first coin" she continued.

"And if you die in the process?" he asked.

"Then I promise not to die, I promise to stay alive to pay you back," she answered.

He shook his head; "You can't guarantee that and you do realize what you are trying to get yourself into right? Hasn't life taunted you enough for one day?" he questioned.

"I do realize, take me with you, please?" she begged and pleaded as she kept insisting on her stance. Silence reigned between them for some while.

"Fine, I will make your death wish come true," the witcher finally agreed reluctantly, breaking the silence.

He started walking.

"Are you coming?" he asked and the girl smiled. She soon caught up with him.

"Thank you...What is your name by the way?" she asked.

"Who is asking?" the witcher replied and the girl chuckled.

"Luisa,"

"You seem too excited for someone who is about to walk into hell. And I find you quite daring and inquisitive for your age," he pointed out.

"Okay, but you haven't told me your name yet," she replied.

"Hezekiah, but everyone calls me Zeke- So call me that." he finally answered.
