CHAPTER FIVE (SHOULD I PAY)

Yes, you are simply too young and beautiful to be Arielle's mom. Marcos said flattering Mrs Rachel.

She blushed at his compliment. She liked the fact that he was quite the sweet talker.

Oh, stop it. You liar. Mrs Rachel said to him with a smile and then they both laughed.

Anyways, what are doing here beautiful lady? Marcos asked, he was still being a flirt.

Yes mother, what are you doing here? Arielle also asked.

I was in the neighborhood and as the good mother that I am, I decided to check on my darling daughter and then I saw her with such a handsome man about to board a cab and that's why I came here quickly to see this man up close. Mrs. Rachel quickly cooked up her story and hoped it sounded convincing enough and also wondered if indeed she looked like those middle-class mothers.

Oh, that's nice because I was going to ask Arielle to introduce me to her family members as soon as possible. Marcos said with kindness.

Oh wow, he's so sweet and he has even managed to capture my mother's heart, I think. Arielle thought to herself with a smile.

Since you are taking my daughter to our house, why don't I tag along with both of you? I can even get to know you more then. Mrs. Rachel said to him.

Sure. Join us. Marcos agreed.

The most exciting and happy ride home for the first time was with Marcos. He made her mother so happy and they kept talking nonstop. Even though from what he said, he seemed to have so many financial problems but this was something she could manage. Money wasn't a problem at all.

I just need a man. A better man than that of five years ago. Arielle said to herself and got back to her conversation with them.

When they arrived at his house, he came down and called Arielle aside.

Can you please pay for the taxi fare? I don't think I have any money on me. I am so ashamed to be asking you for this but I don't want the taxi driver to embarrass us.

Arielle was shocked by this statement but she composed herself and thought it through.

It could just be because of the situation of things. I should just pay for it, it's not like I don't have the amount on me. I have more than enough. Arielle concluded in her mind and gave him the money.



He paid for their fares and said goodbye to Arielle with a kiss on the cheek and a wave at Mrs. Rachel.
