Four More Months Later

I woke up and sighed. I wasn't ready to get up yet. I looked at my watch and blinked. Today was my due date. I sat up and found that my husband was already out of bed. I got up and grabbed some clothes. Then went and took a scalding hot shower. I put on a green skirt, a green T-shirt, and my boots. I was in the middle of brushing my hair out when Lloyd came in. "I hope you aren't planning to put your hair in a ponytail," he said.

I smiled. "No, I'm planning to put it in a bun."

He sighed. "Why can't you just leave it down?"

I put it in a bun. "Because I like wearing my hair up."

I saw him look me up and down in the mirror. "You're going all green today?"

"Green is my favorite color," I muttered. "Lloyd, do you know what today is?"

"Um, March fifteenth?"

I turned and looked at him in the eye. "Yes, but today is also my due date."

"That doesn't mean Jonathan is coming today," he said.

"I know that. But he could and if he does that's great." I frowned as a sudden thought intruded on my happiness.

"What's wrong?" Lloyd asked.

"Loro hasn't done anything for the last eight months. It's just odd."

"Maybe he's planning something."

"Something that would take him eight months to come up with?" I said raising my eyebrow.

"Hey, good plans sometimes take a while."

I made a face and left the room. I went to the kitchen and made an omelet. I sat down and started eating. Harumi came in and smirked. "Eating before the baby decides to come out?" She asked.

I rolled my eyes. "The baby might not come today, Rumi," I replied and shoved the last forkful into my mouth.

"Do you want him to come out today?"

"Yes. I want to see my baby." I sat back in my chair and rubbed my stomach. "He might come out today or he might come out tomorrow. Who knows?" I felt a slight pain in my abdomen and it grew a little more intense which made me gasp.

"Y/n? Are you okay?"

I held up a hand and breathed through the pain. When it was over I relaxed. Son of a bitch that hurt. "Um, or maybe the baby will be coming today," I said breathlessly.

She blinked. "What do you mean?"

"I mean I just had a contraction." I yelped as I felt another one. Crap. Five minutes apart. I forced myself to breathe. When the contraction was over I looked at Harumi. "Do me a favor and get Lloyd for me?"

She nodded and ran out of the room. I groaned as another contraction came. I put my head in my hands and breathed. Ow, ow, ow. I whimpered. Ouch. It stopped. Lloyd came in. "Y/n, are you okay?" Lloyd asked worriedly.

I held up a hand as another one came. Okay, now the contractions were getting closer together. "Ow, ow, ow," I groaned.

"Are you sure he's actually going to come?"

"Mmm-hmm," I panted. Damn, this hurts. "I don't think we're going to make it to the hospital," I said breathing hard.

"Then we should get you to your room," Harumi said.

Lloyd scooped me up gently and carried me to our room. He laid me down. "I'll be right back," Lloyd said softly.

I grabbed his wrist. "Where are you....going?" I groaned. Labor hurts a lot more than I thought it would. But if you're wondering if this makes me not want to have more kids, you're wrong. I can handle the pain.

"I'm going to go get my mom," he said gently taking my hair out of the bun. "She has gone through this so she can help you."

"O...okay." I ground my teeth against the pain. He quickly left.

"You know you're doing really well, right?" Harumi asked. "A lot of women scream and you aren't."

"Th...thanks." I clenched my fists and twisted the sheets. Ow.

The door opened and Misako and Lloyd both ran in. "Okay, Y/n. Let's see," Misako said. She did. "Alright, you're going to have to start pushing now."

I groaned. "I don't...want to." Harumi smiled a little and left the room.

"You really don't have any choice." Lloyd grabbed my hand and I sucked in a breath then pushed while squeezing his hand. I couldn't help the groans from coming. I could feel a scream building up but I shoved that down. I didn't want Lloyd to be any more worried than he already was. I stopped pushing and started breathing hard. "The head is crowning. Push again," Misako said.

You know what? I might end up killing my mother-in-law. I sucked in another breath and pushed. Another scream built up but I made it come out as a whimper. "You're doing good," Lloyd said softly. I squeezed his hand tighter as I pulled out of the push then began pushing again. Then stopped.

"I'm tired," I said through my teeth.

"I know," Lloyd whispered.

"Okay, his head is out. One more big push should do it," Misako said.

I shook my head. "No."

"You have to."

"I know but I can't!" I cried.

"You can," Lloyd said quickly. "You can do this."

I glared. "I hate you."

He smiled a little. "I know."

I inhaled deeply and pushed. Owwwww. I felt wetness on my cheeks and wondered when I had started crying. Suddenly the pain was gone and there was a cry. I opened my eyes (When had I closed them?) and saw a little baby in Misako's arms. "Here he is," Misako said. She gently handed him to me.

I wrapped him in my arms. "Hello, Jonathan," I said softly. I looked at Lloyd and saw him looking at the baby with shining eyes. "You aren't going to cry too, are you?"

He made a face. "No." His tail was twitching though and his wings were flapping a little.

I looked back at the baby. "You're ours. No one will take you from us and we'll protect you forever," I promised him.

"Of course, we will," Lloyd said brushing a strand of hair out of my eyes. I looked at him and he kissed me.

"I'll leave you two alone," Misako said and left.

"How do you feel?" My husband asked.

"Tired," I muttered.

He chuckled. "Let's lay the baby next to you so you can get some sleep."

"Hmm, okay." We did and as soon as I shut my eyes, I fell asleep.
