No Bribing

After fooling around for half an hour, both of them grew tired and laid in bed. Lily's hair scattered over his arm and chest as her head rested on him. His free arm pulled her close in his embrace as he pecked light kisses on her forehead once in a while.

"Ah! Don't you have to check on your patients? Your shift! You're late!" She sat up anxiously as she checked the time from her phone screen. Wrapping his arm around her waist, he whispered, "I forgot to tell you about my shift change earlier. I don't need to cover for anyone's shift today."

"Hmmm..? So, you mean you're here on your free time? Doctor Lin, visiting hours are over~" She giggled as his breath tingled her ear.

"This is the perks of having a boyfriend doctor. Aren't you glad?" He chuckled as she turned to face him.

"Hehe~ Perks of being a doctor? Well, then. Honey! Which nurse or patient are you going to woo after I'm gone, huh? I saw some pretty hotties in the hospital." As she pinched his cheeks for fun, he took her hand and kissed it.

"The only one I see in my eyes is you. So, whether those nurses, doctors or patients like men or women; I don't care at all. I only care about you. Whether I am on shift or off the clock, you're exclusively my responsibility." Her eyes locked onto his as a sweet smile appeared on her face.

"Anyways, it's getting late. Don't you have work tomorrow? Actually, later today. It's unsafe to drive back home at this time." She said after recalling that it was past midnight already. The rain hadn't stopped, and roads would be too slippery for vehicles to run on a highway.

"I have work later, but I won't go home. I'll wait until you fall asleep first and then head back to my office." A smile etched on his face as he tucked her in bed and held her hand. She wanted to reject his idea at first, but he sneakily gave her a peck on the lips to shush her.

"Sleep. The storm isn't over yet." Nodding with half opened eyes, her consciousness slowly faded with the warmth of his fingers brushing against the back of her hand. Like hypnotism, her mind became blank and drifted off the slumber.

After she had fallen asleep, he carefully placed her hand under the blanket and kissed her on the forehead. "Good night. I'll see you in a few hours." He smiled as he exited the room. Since she was afraid of thunder, he left the lamp by her bedside on for her.

The following morning, Lily woke up feeling extra energetic. There were a few blood tests she needed to do today, so she made sure to wash up before the nurse came to guide her to the examination room. Surprisingly, when she walked out of the bathroom, it wasn't a nurse waiting for her; it was Lin Que.

"Morning!" She hopped into his arms and gave him a hug.

"Good morning, beautiful. How was your sleep?" He pinched her sharp chin lightly as a tease.

"Mmm...I slept well. What about you?" She loosened her arms around his torso and kept a small gap between them in case other people would see while passing by her room. She didn't really care about how people see her, but she cares a whole lot about his career. As a doctor, he shouldn't be courting his patient. Even so, people would be low key about it if that happens.

She's going to discharge if reports come back positive. Therefore, she would prefer less gossip about them while she stays. Seeing his girlfriend hopping three steps away from him, he quickly got the hint of what she wanted to avoid.

Clearing his throat, he reviewed the results of her most recent examination over the past few days. Everything turned out fine, so the only thing left to do were the blood test and needle shots for today. Hearing the word needle come out of his mouth made her blood reverse in the bloodstreams as goosebumps formed all over her body.

"U..Umm... Shots?" A nervous laughter escaped her mouth as she bit her lip and looked up pitifully.

Patting her head lightly, he said, "Don't worry. It won't hurt. It'll feel like a mosquito bite. I have very good hands!"

Glaring at him with distrust, she subconsciously reached the middle of her arm where she had last allowed him to take blood from. "Lies. That sharp needle penetrated my arm last time, and it hurt!"

Rubbing his finger against his lip, he dug deeply in thought. "For your needle shots, maybe I can make an exception for you.." His voice trailed off as he saw her eyes twinkling brighter than a Cullinan diamond with rays of adoration that made him feel proud for a moment.

"An exception? I knew I chose the right boyfriend!" She mumbled, hoping he would excuse her needle shots on the records.

"Ahem, I haven't finished yet. When I said an exception, I meant giving you the choice of taking the shot on your arms or your butt. You even have the choice of having one shot on each butt cheek. Whichever one more comfortable for you, this boyfriend doctor of yours would definitely fulfill~ "

Turning the side of his arms for her to playfully punch from his teasing, he stared at her flushed face in amusement. "Can't I just not take any needle shots? I'm already getting my blood taken." She pouted with her glossy pursed lips.

'Hehe... this trick would work..' Or so she thought it would.

As if he could read through her mind, he bent forward and whispered, "No seducing your boyfriend for anything medical related. It won't work. I'll give you a lollipop if you be good and let me do what I need to do."

Taking the opportunity with his ears close to hers, her lips gently nibbled on it and said, "I'm not easy to bribe!"

"Pfft, hahaha. You're right. Then, how about a kiss instead? If you don't do the examinations, then no more kisses." He pointed at his lips and winked at her.

Pondering for a minute, she looked back up and raised all ten fingers. "Ten kisses!"

"Deal."

Just like that, she was bribed by his offer and obediently followed him to the office where soreness was waiting for her.
