Birthday Party

Since Lawrence and Toby were staying at their house, Lily and Ginny decided to stay with them until they leave. Everything was just like years ago before college life started. The girls went shopping for groceries while Lawrence was in charge of paying. The family would then go for late night desserts or order delivery. Sometimes, Toby would make her own special dishes.

Although Lawrence had crammed up a month's worth of business meetings and documents, he still had to work during this vacation. His phone had rung nonstop ever since he turned it back on after landing. Apparently, his assistant could not handle certain clients from overseas, so he had to take over. With the time differences, it was rather difficult for him to have a good rest.

Lily felt bad to see him work consistently even during his short break. Compared to his employees who get vacation days, he worked almost every day of the year. Sometimes, she wondered if he ever grew tired of his work. She remembered him telling her that it was his dream to build his own company and expand business. Although procedures and policies could bite his ass when he isn't looking, he finds it interesting to manage a large business.

For the sake of his old friend's birthday party, he gave it his all to deal with the phone calls and emails. With the limited hours of spare time that he had, he managed to gather with his friends and catch up. His schedule was more packed than his regular business meetings.

Even though he had mentioned about having dinner with Lin Que, she never found the right chance to ask him. With the many call interruptions between their conversations, she decided to wait until his friend's birthday party was over before introducing Lin Que to him. Maybe he would have more free time after that.

On the day of Lin Que's dad's birthday party, Toby dropped Lily off at the hospital after she got ready in the afternoon.

Lily turned around and asked, "Are you sure you don't want to come and visit him? Not even a hi?"

Toby smiled, "I'll see him soon anyways." She shooed Lily away as she needed to prepare for tonight's party. Of course, Lily only thought that her mom referred to the upcoming family dinner with Lin Que.

When Lily got to Lin Que's office, he was in the middle of attending some patients. He wanted to hug her so badly, but had to refrain from acting intimate while standing in front of patients. Taking the keys from his pocket, he handed it to her and gave her a quick wink. "Wait for me in my office. I'll be done soon."

Happily staring at the set of keys on her palms, she walked to his office and unlocked the door. Suddenly, she felt like she was the owner of his home. 'Gosh, what am I thinking? This is only his office. Office!'

After fifteen minutes later, he walked in with his white coat on his arm. "I'm back! Sorry for keeping you here by yourself."

Hearing him announce he was back, she said, "Welcome home." Actually, for the past fifteen minutes, she was imagining how he would behave at home. Scenarios like him cooking with an apron on and them folding their laundry together started piling up in her mind. It was a heartwarming scene.

When he came into the office, her mind was still wandering in her bubbly thoughts. It wasn't until the words came out of her mouth did she realize he was really back from checking patients. Covering her eyes, she said, "Umm, I didn't wait that long. It's okay."

"Wait. Wait. I think I just heard someone say~~ Welcome home?" He closed the door from behind and hung up his white coat. With his palms on either side of the chair she was sitting on, he trapped her from escaping. His eyes landed on her rosy glossed lips as he leaned in for a soft kiss.

She peeked between the gaps of her fingers and saw his face very close to hers. 'No! No! Can't look at him now! If I do, I'll spit out everything in my mind in one go! His beauty is too dangerous!'

Whispering into her ears, he said, "Look at me...Please?" His deep, magnetic-like voice attracted her instantly. Since she didn't comply with his request, he continued his whispers. "Are you sure you want to continue hiding from me? If you don't look at me, then I won't guarantee what'll happen next."

Originally, he planned to tease her a little bit before getting ready to leave for the party, but he changed his mind. Seeing her shy reaction after speaking into her ears, he noticed her ears turning pink. 'So, her ears are sensitive...'

"N..no." she softly refused while shaking her head sideways. When she shook her head, her ears accidentally brushed against his lips, making her hold her breath. Pressing her lips together, she couldn't believe she almost let out a moan. Her ears had always been a sensitive area! Even when mosquitoes buzz close to her, she would duck because of her sensitive ears!

"I found your weakness." His lips were purposely close to her ears.

"Ahhh!! I give up! I give up! I'll open my eyes and stop hiding them!" She pouted slightly and looked at him while blushing. Her heart almost jumped out of her chest from their small interaction. If he got any closer, he would be kissing her ears! Even thinking about it makes her shiver all over.

Her legs were starting to feel numb when he spoke into her ears the first time. Leaning in to steal another kiss from her, he chuckled, "Alright. I'll stop teasing you then. Oh, by the way... I'm back, honey."

"Ahhhh!!!" She covered her face and stomped her heels lightly against the floor a few times. It was so embarrassing that she could dig a hole to bury herself into. Looking up again, she saw him attempting to secure his tie in front of the mirror.

"That's not how you do it." She always watched her mom fix her dad's tie, so she learned how to tie it properly. Seeing him hand the tie to her, she smiled and slowly demonstrated. While she concentrated on explaining to him step by step, she didn't notice his eyes were staring at her lips.

He replied with, "Hmm.." whenever she asked if he understood. With her help, the tie was straightened within a minute. Smiling at her masterpiece, she asked, "Do you understand now?"

"Nope.." She didn't catch the anticipation in his voice and looked up in response to ask which part confused him. Her eyes widened when she felt the smoothness of his lips touching hers. His arms found its way around her waist, leaving her no room to break from the kiss.

Gentle kisses turned sloppy as she returned his kisses clumsily. Eventually, her body leaned into his embrace and her arms pulled him in for a deeper kiss. Luckily for them, the party was located twenty minutes away from the hospital. If it took any longer than half an hour, they would've been late.

When Lin Que released her from his arms, he checked to make sure they had time to spare to get to the party. Lily smiled sweetly, "We have time. By the way, do you like ties? You're definitely not good at tying them."

"I have the already tied ones at home. It's not fun tying ties for myself." If his job didn't require business attire, he would have gone to the office with his doctor uniform.

Oh? Do you know what's a great way to use a tie?" Since he teased her earlier, she was determined to win some points back.

"Great way to use a tie?" Before he could respond, she shook her head and pulled him down using the end of his tie.

"Like this." She whispered and licked his lips before kissing him again. This time, the kiss ended after five minutes because they really needed to leave to get to the party. At this point, lateness was no longer an issue to him.

Even if they were late, Lin Que already came up with the perfect reasoning to prevent his parents from nagging him. 'Trying to tie down your daughter-in-law and give you grandchildren faster.'
