Abyssus people had three inborn abilities,

1 for offence, 1 for defence and 1 for cultivation

every Abyssus could stun other people's soul through their gaze, some extremely talented in the soul department can even stun people of higher realms for a brief moment, this was their offensive innate ability, it grew stronger with them, it was known as - Abyss Gaze

all Abyssus could turn their fleshly body incorporeal and into soul form for some time, this allowed them to avoid any and all physical attacks cast by anyone

of course, soul attacks would become even more deadly in this form - The Abyss Form

and the cultivation ability was their most infamous technique, Yin-Yang Unbalance

it allowed them to suck other people's soul into their own soul and store it inside them, also gaining all their energy in the process

and this was also the way they breakthrough to the first rank of Abyssus cultivation - Soul Gazer

reaching this realm was pretty easy, you only needed to absorb 10 different souls, if it is all other Rank 1 Abyssus, while you yourself are only rank 0, it's even better

if it's all Rank 1 Abyssus of different breed like,

abyss succubi, abyss bat, abyss crows etc...it's even better than that

but only people with great backgrounds are usually able to do that, how can an unranked kill 10 rank 1 individuals

every rank 1 atleast has as much strength as mutated humans like Spider man once had

how can an ordinary guy kill 10 spider mans?

and every rank increased everything about a creature 10 fold at the very least

it was said that, having 10 unique rank 1 abyssus, you had a much better chance at unlocking an Epic level acquired ability,

there were 4 levels of acquired abilities you could get on every rank breakthroughs,

ordinary

extraordinary

Epic

and Legendary

even though higher level abilities made further breakthroughs harder, it also made you much stronger

for example, in every breakthrough, you had to make your previous acquired ability go through evolution and reach a higher realm

so what if you had a legendary ability?

that meant you will have to turn it into a Supreme ability before you are allowed to rank up, only the Supremes and a scant amount of 'True beings' have ever done that

and how many of Supremes existed in history, only Nine, and how many 'true beings' had existed in all of history

only 97! NINETY SEVEN!

and even among them, few could ever get a supreme ability...

as for acquiring supreme abilities from the get go and make them go through evolution,

Even Supremes will laugh at you, even they could only gaze at the class above supreme,

not to mention these ants

having these high class abilities not only meant

strength, it also meant potential,

any creature with an epic ability was generally expected to reach rank 5

as for legendary, they were usually expected to be people who will not move up after reaching that realm, since, a breakthrough was far too difficult for them

but if they do breakthrough, they're called unparalleled talents and even Supremes might accept you as their disciple

and they are expected to become 'True beings'

even if only one of their abilities are Supreme level

as for the origin of these abilities, even Supremes don't know how they came to be, they only know that it was from something that was on the same level as the river of reincarnation

but something more eery

it was said that the Phoenix Matriach's mysterious death was due to her trying to uncover the secrets of the Abilities' Origin

but nobody knew if that was true, though.

as for Rank 1 - Soul Gazers

they need 10 souls to be absorbed to reach this realm, and you will get an ability that is a sort of the fusion of all these 10 people's ability

of course, other things about you might influence that too.

reaching rank 2 was similarly pretty straightforward, you just needed 10 higher ranked individuals from the previous time,

if it was 10 rank 1 that you absrorbed last time, you needed 10 rank 2 this time...so on and so forth

and also comprehend completely your rank 1 acquired ability and make it go through evolution

if all succeeded you reach rank 2 - Soul Eater,

reaching this rank also gives you an ability related to souls and your body will also start to release passive feromones that will make anyone with weak Will's start to submit to you, of course temporarily

and rank 3, reaching required similarly, 10 souls that are of higher rank than previously, but this realm was a very important one, during this breakthrough, you can choose a soul from your eaten collection to be your Soul Core,

the person they choose to make their Soul Cores are very important, Why?

it's because, here lies the biggest advantage of Abyssus, you can make even a rank 9 or even Supremes as your core soul and get all their comprehension regarding one thing as your own

this alone will make your path much smoother

but there was no way a Supreme will end up a soul core of a rank 3, How LUDICROUS!

as for Rank 4 and 5, unlike the other major clans

which had tribulations from rank 3, Abyssus only had two

one when breaking through to rank 4, Pain tribulation, they endure the pain of soul-tearing here and refine their will with it

and the other while breaking through to rank 5,

this was a real barrier for all, geniuses and ordinary included, they had to find their true souls within 5 seconds of breaking through

and for that, you needed a complete understanding of your own heart

of corse there are more inbetween all these ranks, like the stored soul's resistance and ability mismatch, in which case, you get to restart your cultivation with an ever-greater foundation, a foundation built upon luck

But as for Rodha, He would have to change a lot of things in this cultivation system to include his human part, which in itself is a tribulation

but his heart was calm, infact it seemed a bit excited...

his cultivation path seemed thorny but vividly colorful and great.
