"Why is Xavier calling at his hour?" Gerald looked at his phone with a frown, they had been in the middle of dinner when the call came in.
"Answer it, maybe something happened," said Joy.
"Hello " he answered, "How should I know where she went, I only picked up my girlfriend "
Joy frowned hearing the conversation, "Did something happen to Liana?" she asked.
"He asking where she is, it's been hours and Liana hasn't returned home," he said.
She grabbed the phone answering, "She told me not to tell but today evening she left for her parents' home. Her mother was sick as being tortured by her father, so she went to check " she said.
The line got cut after she finished talking. She looked at the phone in shook, "Liana is in trouble "
"Why didn't you tell me earlier, Xavier had warned her not to go back there but you went behind our backs and let her do it " Gerald took his phone from her.
"I didn't think it would be that serious, they are still her parents and her mother changed....or is trying to. So I thought it wasn't that a big deal "
Gerald sighed, "We'll it's a big deal cause in case you forgotten, they are still the same parents who made half of her life unbearable . So get up right now and go get my friend's girlfriend " he got up with Joy obediently following him behind.
He stopped at the car when they reached the parking turning to see the naive clueless Joy walking behind him.
"You didn't bring your jacket and it's cold outside " he frowned gazing at the thin fabric of her pyjamas.
"You told me to get up and follow you so I did " she giggled.
He sighed with a smile forming on his face, "why are you so cute while being dumb at the same time " he laughed.
Joy pouted, "Am not dumb".
He pulled off his that he had grabbed before stepping out and draped it on her shoulders, "wear this then, I don't want you to get sick "
She put it on with a smile, her little arms and body not fitting into it, making her look so small in it.
"I like it, it smells like you " she giggled.
His smile got wider but he gently pushed her towards the car door, "Get in love before I change my mind about leaving".
....
Liana felt her feet weaver, "It can't be, why would he let all this happen and act like he knows nothing about it "
Her father laughed, "As I said, child, your purpose isn't yet here. But when the right time comes you will be able to see the master's true colour"
"But I know he can't do anything to me, not with Xavier or his mother around " she let out.
His eyes turned to the door and a smirk appeared, "Yes, for now, they can protect you but when that time comes . No one not even him can protect you" he said pointing at the door.
Liana turned to see it swing open, Xavier walked in ignoring her father he scanned the room till his eyes landed on her.
"Liana " he called walking to where she was.
"Xavier, what are you doing here ?" she asked surprised.
"Why did you come here, I told you never to come back here " he held her arms.
"Am sorry I just had to see mom and also have a chat with Dad" she said.
She could his eyes were brightly golden and filled with anger, the grip on her arms showed how much has worried and angry at the same time.
"Let's go," he said leading her out but a voice stopped them.
"Stop, young master. You can't leave like that" her father said.
He veered around with disgust on his face, "If it wasn't for my father, you would be in pieces right now " he said.
Her father chuckled giving a slight bow, "Am sorry young master. We really or off on the wrong foot, the first and last times we meet were not pleasant and even though I knew you had identified me, I still chose to pretend not to know you, my apologies "
"Don't apologise to me 'cause I don't need any of that, whether you knew me or not I don't care. But you should be saying that to Liana 'cause she's the one who you traumatised all that time " he said.
Her father's cold eyes moved to Liana and then back to Xavier, "Then if it makes you happy I shall do as you please " he walked to where they were standing and got in front of Liana.
"My dear daughter am sorry but I will have to do this one last time he smiled.
Before she could realise all her memories of her dark painful youth flashed before her eyes, each one with more pain than it carried. she screamed in pain and shook.
"Stop it " she shouted.
Xavier held her but she pulled away crouching into a ball as her hands held her head. Crying and screaming in pain.
"What did you do ?" he yelled grabbing her father by the neck.
