Hazel's heart was racing a hundred miles an hour as he looked down at the dead Lamia. The sound of the ghouls' feet pattering and slamming against the wooden floor were all around him. He needed to think of something fast.

He quickly reached down and took a decorative rock off the table on the nurse's station and threw it out the window. The glass shattered and burst as he tried to contain the excitement and worry spreading throughout his entire body.

He had to be calm.

He jumped underneath the bed and covered his ears as a ghoul ran into the room.

It hadn't even bothered to hide it's form, which included its green skin and boils. The ghoul's red eyes burned with rage as he stared into the distance. He looked down and saw the Lamia's cold body, which was mostly devoid of blood with some nasty spills on her nurse uniform.

The ghoul grinded his hand into a tight fist and turned his anger into a powerful scream.

"Start the alarm! Start the alarm!" He shouted as he pulled off his tie and unbuttoned his shirt, causing the aberrant scratches and scars on his body to be shown to Hazel.

"Someone just killed our lovely nurse!"

"No way," Levon walked into the nurses' office and nearly queefed, feeling his stomach turn as he looked down at his favorite nurse.

"Shit, this is bad. Do you think the cartel found out?" Levon paced around the room.

"Start the damn alarm!" The ghoul replied to Levon, clearly higher than him in power in the orphanage.

"Hurry up! They might shoot again!"

Levon slammed his hands on the alarm, his heart burning with an indescribable rage as he looked at the same tree that Hazel was hung.

Was this happening because of that brat?

Was this because of the girl?

He rang the alarm and quickly rushed outside, pulling out a pistol as he ran towards the bushes. He could hear people breathing in the trees and prepared to fire.

Hazel took a sigh of relief as he looked out the window.

If the ghouls were smarter, they would've noticed the glass broke in the opposite direction. Ghouls weren't known for being smart, but he was feeling the tension in his body subside as he slid out from under the bed.

Hazel put his hand against Adelaide's head and checked her temperature. Her breathing had returned to normal, but her skin seemed a little green.

He picked her up and propped her onto his back, feeling her body light even in his small form. He decided to move her over to the corner and cover her up. He ran up to the doorway and peaked out, looking at the reflection in the mirrors.

A few dozen ghouls in their full transformations were all running around in various directions. The doors with all the orphans were closed and all that could be heard was their strange breathing.

Hazel took his time to collect himself as he looked out at the tree.

He had to make it there quickly, he resolved himself. His heart raced so fast that his skin turned red as he ran into an empty bedroom and jumped out the window.

It was two stories up, but he rolled onto the ground to try and minimize damage. He hit the ground like a feather and stumbled to the tree. He really wasn't hurt as he winced at the tiny scar on his elbow.

He smiled and felt an indescribable rush and pleasure flowing through his body as he balanced himself. He would've broken his leg and maybe even died in his last life. He was now completely fine, and even felt like he could've handled a larger fall.

He picked up the rope and put it on his neck in front of the tree.

'Now I just have to wait,' Hazel decided to take advantage of the confusion.

'When they find me, they'll assume that someone shot me down. It will make Levon think twice about hitting me again.' Hazel laid down on the floor and closed his eyes, his fear once again turning into a calm smoothing wave.

He was stronger now, not the weak little boy.

All he had to do now was wait.

Twenty minutes later:

Hazel groggily opened his eyes to see a box floating in front of him.

He rubbed his eyes while he was confused, wondering what was going on as Jorge ran outside. He was sweating and his hair was in shambles with his shirt torn. Jorge looked like someone who was just beat up, his emotions dull and sapped as he tossed Hazel on his back.

"We should've never taken you." Jorge rushed into the building.

"This is your fault brat! Levon almost died, and the pretty nurse is dead!" Jorge looked panicked as he pushed Hazel into his room that he shared to Bobby. His every movement was full of tremors and fear.

"Get in there, and shut up!" Jorge tossed Hazel into the bedroom with Bobby.

"If I hear you, I'll hit you with my belt! Now be quiet! Grown men are fighting! When grown men fight, you shut up and hide under the bed!"

"Mister, I'm scared," Hazel feigned fear as he was put down in his room.

"Are you going to die?" He said with a somber, trembling voice.

"No, you are if you don't shut up," Jorge slammed the door on Hazel and rushed back outside.

Some men with their rifles that did a poor job hiding themselves inside the trees shot the ghouls! He had to get out there before the leader of the orphanage got impatient with him!

This was all because of that little brat! He bit his bottom lip and ran to the weapon room. If it wasn't for that little brat, he could be watching television!

He grabbed the gun and ran past Hazel as the small boy innocently peaked out his doorway.

Hazel smirked at the mens' misfortune as he slowly walked out of his room. The smell of the blood from the Lamia was intoxicating, filling him with vigor and a scary smile as he stealthily walked into her office.

Her blood had trailed out of her neck, and her face was still plastered with a frozen frown. It was as if her years of tormenting children was finally fully evident to her.

'She won't reincarnate,' Hazel thought with a grin.

'Vampire' He said before his body transformed.

He leaned down and looked at her blood as it started to turn golden. He leaned down and looked at his sumptuous meal and began to smell the vigor of her blood cells as he kneeled to her and thanked her for the meal.

He slowly began to lick the remaining blood he messily left on the floor as Adelaide started to stir. She turned left and right as her skin started to feel like little tendrils were poking at her from the inside. It pained her so much that she couldn't open her eyes. A sense of exasperation and panic was inside of her chest as her heart thumbed and thumbed like a drum signaling the start of a battle.

Her body was fighting something and it wasn't winning.

She turned and thought she saw the shadow of something in front of her, but she couldn't make it out.

Why couldn't she see?
