Escape (1)

Hazel wiped the blood off of his cherry red lips after devouring two cold dead bodies void of blood. The tiles cleanly sparkled with no mess of the prior blood stains that painted the floor. He almost burped as he rubbed his belly filled with liters of fresh blood.

Hazel frowned at his messy clothes stained with maroon spots. After glancing down at the thug's clean uniform, he decided to change as he ripped the clothes off of the thug's ugly body.

Hazel locked himself into the stall as a habit and he smuggly smiled after changing into a clean set of clothes. The sunglasses were helpful as it hid his noticeable sanguine red eyes while his mask covered his long fangs. He confidently left the bathroom as the thugs didn't pay attention to his uniformed appearance.

However, Hazel soon started to panic when he noticed familiar blond hair and the same wisps of shiny fabric derived from a flattering long skirt from the edge of his eyes.

A cold sickly body had an oxygen mask over her face as he heard some beeps from the IV machine with his newly enhanced hearing.

"Mommy, Mommy!" He instantly transformed into his original appearance when he rushed near the entrance of the mall to find the paramedics hustling to get someone into the ambulance.

The gang members whispered and scratched their head in confusion before rushing to get into action. One of the thugs quickly scooped up the vulnerable boy who focused his sight on his poor mother on a white bed.

By the time he lost sight of his mother, he gazed into the darkness inside the backseat of a small car.

[Two ghouls have been sensed in the area]

[Kill two ghouls]

His eyes opened to stitches of woven loose fabric interlinking each other in the darkness. His vision wavered to the blurr coming in through the thatched bag over his head. He could faintly make out the silhouettes of a small girl sitting next to him, and noticed there were three large men in the front of the vehicle.

The vehicle sped down the highway as the revolving bright red and blue lights of the siren roared behind it. The cops desperately tried to follow the intense bounces and zigzags of the crowded streets of Mexico as the distance between them became bigger every second.

Hazel wanted to puke and to throw up as the memories from his last kidnapping flooded into his mind. It had been much, much worse than the first time after they had tied him up and gagged him from his intense struggling. Currently, he sat with his head down in the back as they left him alone. One guy even patted him on the head and said good boy like he was some type of dog.

They stopped at a red light sometime between the stories about killing someone's wife with a metal pipe and a story about how one of their kids just got on the baseball team. They seemed to show no excitement and even seemed bored when they talked about killing someone's wife.

Hazel grinded his lip and bit down so hard that drops of blood dripped down into his chin. The sweet taste trailed down his lips and dripped through his cloth as the man next to him sighed and pulled off his covering.

"Jorge? What the hell happened?" A deep, hoarse voice roared as the engine quieted.

"We're almost to the dank sewers. You were just going to tell us something good."

"You mean about how much this kid is worth? Hah, so far no one hasn't fallen for the old, the kidnappers are dead and the kids are at the orphanage." Jorge used some alcohol he got from a bottle and put it on a napkin so he could dab the blood around Hazel's mouth.

"I heard this kid's father is worth over a billion dollars. With that kind of money you could buy a lot of beer."

"Cover him back up," A man that Hazel couldn't quite make out tossed a book at Jorge.

"This is his damn father. Leader of some multinational organization known as the 'Night Suit Company'. The only thing is that his company has nothing to do with suits. But, it doesn't matter because he's more loaded than even the head of the cartel."

"The head of the cartel wouldn't even slight him!" Another man laughed and crossed his arms.

"However, we're not with the cartel. We're just some idiots that kidnap rich kids and put them in an orphanage."

"He's three," Jorge placed the bag back on Hazel's head.

"He's too little to remember what we're talking about. Especially with your heavy ass accent Quan. Now stop talking so much. You're giving me a damn ass ache!"

"You're nasty man," Quan said as the car turned onto an off road. Hazel could remember this road because of the crunching glass that cracked and popped underneath the tire. That same annoyance and reprehensible fear started to surface as they pulled off to the road by a grey bridge.

'This is that damn place where they left me for two days. It still smells like vodka and garbage.'

'This time will be different though, and I will escape," Hazel nodded his head as he prepared to transform into a vampire.

'I will escape and then go get my mom and go back to my mansion and live a normal life!'

[Protect the girl with you in the car at all costs.]

[Cost of failure will be termination of your own life and will result in a painful death as well]

'Are you kidding me? Why do I have to protect her? She wasn't even in the car the last time I was kidnapped? Should that even be possible? Are things changing already, even though I only reincarnated a few hours ago?'

"Kid, you're a good one. Come with me to the river will you? There is a room you'll be staying in for a few days."

"What about the girl? Should we dump her in the river?" Another man laughed and picked up the little girl as she kicked and screamed on his shoulder.

"She's good food for the fish in the river. Maybe if she's lucky she'll live for a few minutes before the ghouls get her."

"Stop joking. That little bitch lost her family. The least we can do is take her to the orphanage." Jorge smiled and walked with Hazel over towards a sewer with a bronze gate. It was an understatement to say it smelled and felt like a bathroom that had been clogged for weeks.

The smell was so bad that Hazel had trouble going to the bathroom for two years after getting kidnapped. It wasn't as bad today, but it was still somewhat unbearable. He felt the urge to vomit as he was brought past the gate and into a small room in a sewer.

This was the place where the 'orphanage' placed kidnapped children for two days before the cops they bought could get some time to come up with an excuse for the parents. Afterwards, all they had to do was fake a few deaths.

It was easy to fool rich people.

The hard part was caring for kids like feeding them.

They opened up a metal door after walking for five minutes straight and tossed Hazel inside. The girl who'd already given up on fighting was tossed in with him as well.

"Kids, don't let the ghouls get you," Jorge laughed and slammed shut the door.

"Geez, don't go to the bathroom in there either. I want to puke and I've been here a thousand times." His voice cracking as he coughed from the smell.

"Let-let us out of here! You guys will pay for this!" Hazel pounded on the door.

"My father will find you and make you go to your rooms!" The little girl screamed as the men left.

"Darn it! Daddy! Daddy! Please save us!"

Hazel took a deep breath.

He had to be calm and stay collected or else things would get bad.

'Vampire' He thought as he nodded his head. In his vampire form, he could see in the dark. He closed his eyes as he felt his body slowly begin to transform before. But, it never did.

[You're not alone.]

[Please wait until no one is watching to transform.]

"Help! Help!" The little girl kept screaming.

"Please! If you're out there help! We need help!" Her voice emitted all her worries.

Hazel sighed and finally realized who was the owner of voice. It was the girl from his past life where he took care of when he first went to the orphanage. The boys picked on her regularly and a few even tried to attack her. But he protected her with his height as he would block most of their attacks.

He was just a nice guy, feeling her eyes were somewhat similar to his own.

She was full of sadness. A kind of sadness that went to your bones.

Hazel sighed and looked at her before he reached over and patted her on the head.

"Go to sleep, and when you wake up we'll be out of here. Keep screaming and they'll do something bad to us, promise."

"You-you should always ask for help!" The girl screamed help over and over again as Hazel sighed and crossed his arms.

After ten minutes, she finally took the bait and stopped talking.

"I-I guess you're right. I'll be quiet so I can hear if anyone is coming. Who are you anyway?"

"Hazel, who are you?"

"Adelaide. Why do you still have that bag on your head?"

"I can't get it off," Hazel replied as he turned to show that his arms were tied behind his back.

"I'm stuck here until you go to sleep. If you go to sleep, I promise to get us out of here."

"Sleep here?" Adelaide said as she feigned vomiting.

"No! I can't! I definitely can't!"

"Just try." Hazel heard something moving and started to panic.

"Please! Please try!"

"Fine, but this better not be another trick," Adelaide sighed and closed her eyes.

"You better not be lying, or I'll be upset forever!"

Hazel smiled and then began the process of waiting.

Ten minutes… Twenty minutes…. An hour…

Three hours passed and he still couldn't transform. He didn't blame the girl for it being hard to sleep, but he did find it particularly annoying that something knocked on the box every few minutes.

'Vampire' Hazel said and finally felt his body begin to swell, his arms bursting through the ropes as he grew in size. He smiled and reached to take the bag off his head, finding the small girl sleeping against a rock in a brown dress.

He sighed and turned around to open the door a second later. It was unlocked, but they were so high up it wouldn't be wise to jump as normal children.

They were in some type of makeshift vent in the sewers next to a ladder. They probably figured if the kids somehow got out of the rope, they wouldn't be able to jump down.

However, Hazel was now a vampire.
