### Olympus Frontlines 5km Away from the Chronos Border
On a field covered by a sea of tents, the center tent, made of concrete and adorned with fluttering flags of the Draconian Empire and the High Kingdom of Olympus, stood prominent. Alex was nowhere to be seen, but a few dozen kilometers from the border, large explosions and screams of agony echoed as Alex threw his sword and drew two ornate long pistols named Sing and Song. These pistols fired normal anti-magic bullets, with an option to fire powerful energized bullets from his power storage.
"Come on, charge at him! He's just one person!" shouted a titan with braided hair, directing troops. A few hours after the war started, Chronos withdrew the elite troops along with the great generals. This decision seemed foolish to many, but Alex didn't care. He placed a majority of his troops on the frontlines, and after killing over 30,000 enemy soldiers, he looked at the general who zealously charged along with his bodyguard unit.
Bang!
A bright light covered the area, and they were vaporized.
"Your Majesty, there's a report from the Empire," said a person who contacted Alex. Alex nodded, and as he flew up, he turned toward the main allied force camp, soon creating a sonic boom.
#### Back at the Camp
Thud. Alex landed on his legs. As he approached the tent, he removed his jacket, which weighed over 30 kilograms due to the high-fiber multi-use fabric for any terrain, including 5 kilograms of anti-magic armor plates underneath the leather jacket made from dragon hide. Underneath, he wore a plain grey t-shirt that revealed some scars from past battles and training.
After placing his sword on a stand, he sat on a nearby chair, facing a pile of documents. An imperial guard approached Alex with a letter, as radio communication couldn't fully reach up north, necessitating written messages. After reading it, he turned to the communications officer and nodded silently. The officer spoke of the current situation in the Empire.
"Your Majesty, the Empire is being invaded by three large armies. After a few hours of planning, they deployed the national guard and the legions that were in training. The airforce sent the 1st Experimental Air Corps along with the 4th Imperial Fleet," said the officer. Alex nodded and turned to the imperial and spoke.
"Have two air corps withdraw from the frontlines and focus on defending the skies of the Empire," he said, muttering, "At least the talents that the Empire has been growing were worth the wait." Soon, he turned and left for Olympus, where the main army had been gathering.
#### A Few Days Later
**Western Front Military HQ**
In the frontier city of Necropolis, the gateway to the Empire, the region was under martial law. The national guard, comprising over 20,000 reservists, were arming and training in basic forms and quickly setting up defenses.
Fortunately, the airforce arrived, destroying the Gladion Empire's forward supply outposts, temporarily halting their advance. The rest began recon missions until the 11th Legion arrived. Facing only one army keen on taking the city, the 11th Legion stationed in the city formed three-layered defenses. Their soldiers were spread out with the border guard corps, who were part-time soldiers patrolling the borders with obsolete armored vehicles.
"Sir, reports from the recon planes stated that the enemy army was sighted a few hours from the city," said the intelligence officer, handing over a map with highlighted coordinates. The commander saw the 100,000 strong army along with 70,000 combined imperial guardsmen targeting Necropolis. Soldiers filled the streets, patrolling.
"I see. Get the men ready for battle and order the Experimental Air Corps to be on standby for air support."
A few hours later, a large army appeared over the horizon. The lush, green land was tainted by the sounds of metal boots colliding with the ground. Soldiers in the trenches watched with no fear or excitement, just waiting for the battle to start. Artillerymen began loading shells and dialing coordinates.
The Gladion Empire had sent their most experienced and battle-hardened army, known for their elite status under the emperor's command. Their great general led them, ready to face annihilation.
The general, using a spyglass, observed the defenses. Behind him, the army lined up for battle, normal infantrymen wearing hardened plate armor with a shining lion insignia and blue capes, and archers in chain mail armor.
After observing, he shouted, "1st Cavalry Group, charge!" A cavalryman raised his sword and led over 20,000 cavalrymen with swan helmet designs and spears. This unit was famous throughout the west, rumored to match the Empire's Forbidden Cavalrymen, though they only grasped the second layer.
**Draconian Trench Command Post**
"Activate the landmines," ordered an officer. A soldier flicked a switch, sending a wave of magic.
"Get your weapons ready. Pick your targets. We only have a month's worth of ammunition, so don't waste it," yelled another officer as soldiers checked their guns and aimed at the charging horsemen.
**Artillery Lines**
Artillery crews moved around crates filled with high-explosive rounds, placing them close to the newly developed and mass-produced mobile field artillery called the 'Benz,' which fired high-caliber rounds. Another piece, the 'Iron Hammer,' could fire five rounds per second with a range of 30 kilometers. After loading the shells and dialing the coordinates, they received orders to begin firing.
"Commence 10-shell saturation bombardment!" shouted the artillery commander through the radio.
"Firing!" shouted the man, pulling the string.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The air shifted with the force of 1,000 artillery pieces. Soldiers close by wore earplugs to mitigate the sound. After the initial shelling, they reloaded.
**Frontlines**
As the cavalry approached, soldiers in the trenches rested their fingers on the triggers, knowing the enemy was about to reach the minefield.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Pillars of explosions annihilated the first line of cavalry. Survivors, dazed and injured, faced a second wave of explosions.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Draconian soldiers wore neutral expressions while cheering and taunting the enemy. The national guard, former civilians, showed unease as they witnessed the field aflame. Some survivors stood, missing limbs or severely burned.
"Soldiers, a new wave is appearing. Take aim and fire!" shouted the officers. They began firing at the fresh bodies. Some cavalrymen who dodged the machine guns stepped on landmines, dying from the blast or the fall. The rear cavalry, prevented from retreating by mortar shells, faced a brutal fate.
"Cease firing on the injured. Let them bleed!" commanded an officer. Soldiers aimed at the fresh targets.
After a few minutes, the gunfire ceased.
**Gladion Side**
"General, the cavalry attack was repulsed. The entire group was annihilated," reported the officer.
"Annihilated, I know. I witnessed it myself," the general said, looking around. "Move up the Gladion cannons and begin firing. Have the Death Corps move up as well. Tell those suicidal men that if they win, they'll be free from all charges. Also, have our infantry push up." He took a puff from a Draconian cigar.
**Two Hours Later**
"Sir, enemy infantry is beginning to attack us with a vanguard unit. Although infantry, they wear low-quality equipment," reported the officer. The commander scowled and spoke to the frontline commander through the comms.
"Kill the officers leading that unit. Also, order artillery to prepare to bombard the enemy's artillery pieces. But before firing back, I want to see how they work," he said, ending the call and returning to organizing logistics.
**On the Frontlines in a Hidden Bunker**
"Eagle Eye, mark the officers for me," said a sniper, aiming his scope at the approaching enemy vanguard.
**Necropolis Air Command Center Drone Coordination**
"Copy, marking enemy officers," said the drone operator, flying over his Reaper drone and marking the officers. He sent the data to the live mapping feed of the snipers.
"Already done. I'll continue marking other officers of the infantry units," the operator said, maneuvering the drone toward the rear lines.
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!
Soldiers in the trenches fired short bursts while non-combatants handed out ammunition. The .50 caliber guns on top of tanks fired, and some soldiers shouted for more ammo while mortars fired continuously until they ran out of shells.
The enemy expendables shattered as their officers died, and lead and fire rained down on them. The Gladion cannons began firing upon them, showing their operation method: a mage enchanted the ammunition and assisted in aiming the cannon. Observing this, the artillery began its job.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Thousands of artillery shells obliterated the entire enemy artillery group. The elite infantry arrived, charging through the small gap cleared by the Death Corps. Just before they reached the wire, the Warhound arrived.
BRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTT!
A-10 Warhounds tore through the ranks of the enemy, leaving scattered body parts. The few thousand remaining enemy soldiers retreated.
**Gladion Side**
"General the 1st infantry corps are routing and the cannons are gone along with the wizards" said the officer calmly and after a few seconds he heard the general break his wooden armrest with anger rising
