Chapter 39: Let Me Help You
JOHN’S POV
I wanted to help Abby as much as I could, but I didn’t know what she would be okay with. I paced in the kitchen of our little cabin, trying to figure out how I was going to bring it up to her. How was I going to push her a little and not too much?
She walked into the kitchen with her empty teacup, and I swung around to confront her. It seemed like the perfect time for now. She looked at me with a curious expression like she knew I was about to bring something up.
“I was thinking…” I leaned against the kitchen counter and gripped the edge with my hands, watching her rinse out her cup.
“Yeah?” She set her mug beside the sink and turned on her heel to give me her full attention.
“I don’t like this guy anymore than you do and—”
“No,” she immediately shot me down before letting me even finish.
“No, what? You haven’t even heard me out.” I pushed off the counter and followed her.
