Laguna Feast

The title says it. It starts from a waiter and a girl who is a food critique. Slow burn is my thing. English is not perfect. So bear with me. Critiques are valuable to me so do splash my pages with comments.

Chap 1- Due to grandpa's astrology??

"Coming through! Coming through!" "Here you go Maa'm, your glazed chicken freshly baked out of the oven!" The hustle and bustle of the city noise coupled with the sound of Ming Ye's white apron that swished between the customers made a wooshing sound that signifies the many busy turns and rounds he took through the diners. As a server serving in one of the best restaurants in Ye city, it is mandatory for him to put on his best smile, best clean apron and the added twinkle in his eyes to catch the customers, like fleas to the trap. Ming Ye smiled again beckoning towards the elderly pair that is currently walking towards him.

The women, who looks to be near 70 years old, is dressed exquisite with jewels and rubies that are dangling in the brightness of the moon while the husband looks refined in his stylish beard and top hat wearing a suit. They walked together, arms locked as the women stretched a smile smeared with bright red lipstick. To Ming Ye, their entire aura screams rich and lavish in nature. "Ming Ye darling!" Ah. That sound which is so familar to his ears. "Grandma missed you! How have you been? Did you suffer in here? Why are you so thin? Aiya, its time for you to get a girlfriend to make sure you are eating well!" She chided, eyebrows furrowing while grabbing his face. "Grandma, i am eating well and earning money so you can rest assured. And there is no need for a girlfriend. I can live independently" Ming Ye smiled and gently prised his grandma's hands off his face. He looked around the diners currently enjoying themselves and took a deep breathe. He had to go to work now, or his supervisor will certainly take note of the absence of food in his hands. "Grandma, please be seated and a waiter will arrive to attend to you shortly. I must continue working now."

After ushering his grandma and grandpa, who is a great believer of astrology and the stars had whispered in his ear "Today the stars had shown a sign to guide you. I believe you will have a sudden change of fate today. Good luck boy." Now he was thinking hard. What does it meant by the 'change of fate'? What has fate got to do with him doing his duty as a grandson and a waiter? His grandpa may be playing tricks on him, but believers of astrology would not lie, right? Shrugging, Ming Ye turned his back to put a pot of steaming hot soup infront of a customer, and had is on the way to grab the basket of bread when there is a sudden grab on his shoulder.

Ming Ye whipped his head around, prepared to use his most courteous voice to polietly turn the user away. In this restaurant, there was a rule that waiters should not be touched by their counterparts and diners. He assumed that the person who is touching him might be oblivous to the rules.
