Attack

"Why should I trust you?" I asked the lady, "I was promised to meet the whisperer, but you are here."

Taking a deep breath, she looked at me, assessed me. Trying to convince me to accept her.

"As I said before, the whisper is not available. There is a more important situation that needed his attention," she said.

The Whisper is known for being very particular and professional with his clients. What could have happened that he sent someone else in his place?

If the word gets out the trust his customers have will be shaken.

"I don't even know if I can trust you," I said to her.

Without another word, she took out something from her gown and slammed it on the table between us.

"This is the seal of the whisper," she said with an annoyed expression on her face.

Not only I was not getting what I paid for I now have to deal with an annoyed woman.

I took the seal and examined it closely. With It was the seal of the whisper.

It was a simple yet powerful emblem, that captures the essence of the enigmatic man who holds all secrets. A circular design forms the core of the seal, representing unity and completeness.

At the center of the seal, a stylized eye is engraved, symbolizing the all-seeing and all-knowing nature of the Whisper. The eye is surrounded by a subtle spiral pattern, evoking the mysterious depths of hidden knowledge.

Encircling the eye, a single band of interwoven lines creates a protective border, signifying the barrier that guards the secrets held within. The lines are smooth and fluid, representing the fluidity and ever-changing nature of secrets.

To add a touch of elegance, a thin outer ring frames the seal, highlighting its importance and significance. The ring is adorned with a series of small dots, resembling stars in a night sky, symbolizing the vast expanse of information and mysteries held by the Whisper.

"You have no one else who can give you the information I have." She said putting a scroll on the table before me. "This is all the information we have on the shadow."

"Everything?" I asked taking the scroll.

"And to compensate for getting me in the place of the whisper. I will answer two of your questions for free." she said, "anything you want to know about."

It was a good thing then, that I am getting something more than I had paid for.

I thought about what I wanted to know.

There are many things I want to know about.

"What was the reason the kings' soldiers leave for the border?" I asked.

This is the most important thing for me. I want to know what is happening in my kingdom.

And if I have to find out about it from someone else then so be it.

She raised her brows in question, surprised by my question.

"There was an attack on the evergreen woods," she said, rising from her seat.

"Attack?" I asked as my questions only grew in number.

I was so surprised, what could have been the reason for the attack?

"You have one question left," she said,

"Who attacked?" I asked, "Wait, don't answer that."

"Have there been other attacks like these?"

"Yes, three so far."

"When?" I asked her. How could I, the crown prince of the kingdom, not know about it?

"You will have to pay for that," she said, her eyes narrowing on my distressed state.

I realized that I didn't have any money on me.
