Just a Hero for the Hell of it

Juri will be the heroine followed in the story as she fights her way through BNHA. Followed by encapsulated "heroes in training" along the way. This character will borrow a lot from her Street Fighter self, with a bit of oc aspects, since Juri isn't exactly what I'd call a team player.

New Environment, New Face

Juri POV

I'd been staying with my aunt Nemuri for about a week and all I can see is that a mere 7 days was more fun than the entire 10 years I left behind. While my brother still lingered in my mind, there was nothing I could do for him now. Fate can be cruel sometimes.

Over this past week, my aunt Nemuri had been teaching me the dos and don'ts of Musutafu. She told me not to go around bullying people, and if I see someone in trouble, get an adult or a hero (if available.) She also mentioned that I shouldn't do what those around me do. Even if it's "cool" or "popular". That last one sounded like she learned it from experience.

The most important one she mentioned was to never, under any circumstances, use my quirk in public. "Ah, that reminds me, what are the specifics of your quirk?" She asked me, a bit of curiosity evident in her voice. A small, prideful smile spread across my face. I wasn't the most boastful or showboaty person around, but my quirk was something I was definitely proud of.

"I call it the Feng Shui Engine. It enhances my strength, speed, durability, and "ki"." I explained, placing air quotes around the last word. "Ki? Surely you don't mean the whole spiritual energy thing right?" She sounded confused now. If that were the case, I'd have much more explaining to do, and simply didn't have the vocabulary to do so. Luckily for both of us, it wasn't. "No, my ki comes from my sweat glands after activating my Feng Shui Engine. Like my father's quirk." I explained, trying not to trip over my own words.

She rubbed her temple as she tried to understand what I was saying. "So essentially.. You have two quirks?" She asked. For the sake of simplicity, I nodded. In reality, my Feng Shui Engine granted me both the boost in physical attributes, and "ki".

"That's quite the quirk you've got Juri! Can't wait to show you off to all the other heroes!" She smiled as she ruffled my black hair. Her energy must've been contagious because I couldn't stop a small smile from forming on my lips at the exchange.

*ding dong*

The sound of the doorbell caught both of our attention. 'Way to ruin the moment..' I sighed, quickly glancing at the purple clock that hung on the wall. '10P.M? Does aunt Nemuri have a partner of some sort?' I questioned myself. This slightly piqued my interest. She hadn't mentioned any relationship, and it seemed too late for a visit of whatever kind.

I watched my aunt head for the door and followed behind her, keeping back around 4 feet. She took a look through the peephole and sighed. "Better late than never I guess." Her tone hinted at slight annoyance. I watched as she opened the door and greeted the man in front of her with "I thought I told you to come early, Shota." The man in question was taller and bigger than my aunt, giving me a clear view of his messy, long black hair and bloodshot eyes.

Judging by the aggressive bags under them, he hadn't been to sleep in a while. I could tell that he was adept at fighting. Despite the baggy black pants and long sleeve shirt, I could see some definition in his lean build.

The man reached behind him and pulled out eye drops, tilting his head back and letting a few drops hit both eyes. "That's better. You know my operating hours. This is early." He replied, walking around her and standing in front of me. Though his eyes looked to be clearing up, they were intimidating. "Having a stare contest with a 10 year old? Stop trying to scare my Juri!" My aunt shouted, slapping him upside the head before taking my hand and walking me towards the living room.

"She's been staring at me since I got here." I heard the man, Shota, say in a slightly annoyed tone as he followed behind us. A faint heat made its way to my face as he said it. 'Didn't know I made it that obvious..' Luckily I was saved once again by my aunt Nemuri. Shota and I sat down on couches across from each other as aunt Nemuri stood between us both. "*ahem* Juri, this is Mr. Shota Aizawa, and starting in two weeks, he will be staying here with you during the morning!" She said with excitement. '...what?' I looked over to Mr. Shota to see that he was slurping on a juice box that he pulled from kami knows where.

"Uhh, no disrespect to Mr. Shota, but why is he going to be here?" I hesitantly asked her. "That's simple, I'm a teacher now sweetie!" She exclaimed loudly. This had caught me completely off guard.

No disrespect at all to my aunt, but I had seen how she behaves as a hero, and while I don't see anything wrong with her lecherous behavior in crime fighting, I wouldn't say it was "teacher appropriate". I simply decided not to voice that to her though and congratulated her. "You'll make a wonderful teacher aunt Nemuri!" I said with half-hearted excitement. "You know it Juri! And if you have any problems at home, Shota will be here to kick as- ""-BUTT.. if necessary." Mr. Shota cut her off.

I sat there and listened to my aunt about the school she'll be teaching at, 'U.A High'. The ideal school for aspiring heroes. They had reached out to her before I came, and she'd accepted. She didn't expect to suddenly become a guardian. I felt a pang of guilt at this, feeling as though it was somewhat my fault. My aunt must've noticed this because she wrapped me in one of the hugs I'd grown to love before giving me a kiss on the head. "Expected or not, I'm grateful to have you here Juri." My aunt said softly. A beautiful moment. Hopefully no one interrupts i- *slurp*.

Amazing.

Aunt Nemuri caressed my cheek as we broke the hug. "Way to ruin the moment Shota! Juri dear, I want you to go to bed early tonight. There's a park down the street and I want you to meet some new people tomorrow!"
