Chapter 92

A few months went by and Louisa was already with a round belly. Emmeline's episodes were very rare. Normally, she would mean that she knew Roger was gone, but everyone tried not to talk about him. Not that they didn't think about him, but to spare her. And that gave her a chance to enjoy Louisa's pregnancy.

"Oh, I can't wait for this little one to arrive!" She said, one day, showing the baby clothes she had just finished knitting.

"It is beautiful, aunt Emmeline!" Louisa said, smiling and rubbed her hand on her belly, through the fabric of her own dress. She used to do that without even noticing. Michael was out, doing some errands. Louisa missed him deeply.

"It is, isn't it?" She asked. Emmeline was smiling so brightly that Louisa could see the would Emmeline there, even if just for a moment. "I remember when I was pregnant and was just like you, learning how to knit."

"Michael must have been so cute when a child." Louisa said and Emmeline smiled more.
