Chapter 11 Golems

(Read the author's note. I always say my thoughts and all the important stuff there. I'll be pretty busy this week. Sorry :( )

The battle roared with intensity. In the midst, I bellow fervently, "ICAXIS SHOOT, DON'T SAVE YOU DAMN BULLETS!"

*BANG*

The statue displays a sudden burst of speed, swiftly dodging the bullet.

"Shit!" a curse escaped my mouth involuntarily for the situation.

I unleash a barrage of lasers, Yet the statue seems unfazed, casually blocking half of them like swatting away annoying flies while effortlessly tanking the rest.

I'll need at least ten shots in his core, a few more or less. I am not good at calculating.

A blue aura started swirling around him. The strain in his movement became visible, but he shrugged my telekinesis eventually.

One of the statues raises his sword and slashes the air, throwing an energy slash with a white aura.

"I-" In a split second, I throw Icaxis so he can dodge the energy slash.

Mid-air, Icaxis exclaims, "I prefer the slow ones."

I wanted to say me, too, but I was busy trying not to be Un-alived and babysitting everyone.

My focus has been divided now on two things: circling them to keep them guessing and the other part is on maneuvering Icaxis to safety so he doesn't get pulverized. His low mobility is really crippling him.

A loud clang reverberates in the battleground. Glancing back, They are having a hard time fending off the other guarding. Now that I think about it, Daniel and the guardian use similar abilities... Curious.

Icaxis screamed frantically, "DANTE!"

I yelled back, "I KNOW," I drove him again like a puppet, Fuck, I feel more like a support instead of a mage by doing this. But this can't go on anymore. I'm expending too much energy just keeping Icaxis alive and dodging attacks.

"Icaxis, I'll go all in with telekinesis, and you'll shoot it, okay?"

Icaxis nodded his head with his sniper ready.

...the statue lunges forward, shortening the distance between me and it in a blink.

I yell, "NOW!" using my telekinesis to halt the statue in place. I can see the pressure building by It's slower movements.

*BANG* Icaxis's shot pierces through, shattering the core.

"Ah-" A shiver courses down my spine as I feel the cold-edged sword of the statue nearly cutting my throat.

I returned my gaze to where Daniel was, only to find him almost finishing off the other guardian.

Icaxis finishes off the remaining statue with a well-placed shot at his core.

As the shattered statue crumbled into fragments, the room's atmosphere

became peaceful. Without saying anything, everyone agreed to rest. We sat down and started eating some food.

"Probably there would be a boss in the next room. So let's stay here at least for an hour."

...

...

...

Wow, time flies here. And just like that, an hour passed, and something that went into my mind was: why don't the hero or villain use their strongest move at the start?

To not fall into the same loop. I'll need one. Right now, I lack heavy power or an ultimate. I'll search later on for one. Also, I'll check if I can turn into a human again.

"Is everyone ready?" I say, scanning if everyone is okay.

Icaxis: "Yup."

Winfred and Daniel just nodded to confirm me.

I recall everything that RPG games had taught me "Icaxis, do you have something like a special bullet?"

Icaxis: "Yes. Don't tell me you want me to..."

"Shoot it"

Icaxis: "What... That bullet cost me the price of 10 bullets... and I'm already halfway of my ammo."

"SHOOT IT"

Icaxis reluctantly accepted.

The massive door in front of us opened.

In an instant, Icaxis's eyes survey the room, and he shoots the first thing he spots. As the shot travels, an odd sensation akin to my mana but differently in every sense courses through me.

*BANG* One of the golems in the room crumbled into pieces

Icaxis: "Wasn't this a boss room?"

"I don't think so." What met our gaze was a room full of enemies, not a boss.

I can see 5 of the slow ones, three fast ones, and one peculiar one that feels like a...

I quickly push aside everyone with my telekinesis.

I shout, "Don't stick together. The golem in the last row is a mage."

Midway through my warning, an energy beam shot from the mage's core. We Easily evaded it because I was paying attention to him, but in the heat of battle, it would be more challenging.

I'll need a plan so they don't get killed by that. The strength of those beams is the same as ten mines. "Hey just scream my name and I'll push you back to safety."

The tediousness of being a mage in this situation contrasts sharply with how they are portrayed in anime and comics. At least I don't have to do those cringy incantations like 'Magiku bemu!' they'd called Japanglish or something like that.

Now that I think about it, My magic is a bit broken in a certain way. You only realize it's me because of the peculiar eerie aura with which I stuff the objects.

Snap back to reality. You have more problems right now. I am having concentration problems, this is no bueno.

Dante and Winfred are fending off the fast ones while we deal with the slow ones.

*BANG* *BANG* *BANG*

Wow, Icaxis is going on a spree with his shots, caring now more for his life than money.

It has become easier now. The only problem is the golem in the last row; those beams are annoying. It's good that its core shines whenever it is about to shoot.

The dynamic is the next; I move them to dodge attacks or get closer. Simple right?

...

...

...

After a few minutes, we defeated everyone. Perhaps It was a boring strategy, but it was the most effective. Before, I hated efficient strategies and loved off-meta. I guess I'm back to being a meta slave.

You know, I need more powerful transformations. Being a mage seemed more epic, but now I feel like a nun. Wait, isn't this the same feeling I get when I play a cleric in D&D?

As all kinds of random thoughts travel my mind, Everyone takes out food from their inventories. There's no time limit nor any obstacle impeding us to take a quick rest.

I look at the rubble left behind. Icaxis is broken as fuck. Who the heck balances this shit out here? If this was a phone game, I'm sure no one would want to play. Wait...League Of Legends existed with a notoriously bad balance... DAMN.

Everyone gets up from where they are at

Before we enter, I say to Icaxis, "Icaxis, you are going to repeat the process. Shoot at the first thing."

Icaxis, with a teary tone, replies, "With a normal bullet, the last time it wasn't worth it..."

"Fine... Then to the next room." as we were about to enter the next room, I couldn't help but feel this bad omen. It's been looming over me since we entered this place.

FF: Bravery isn't going recklessly against something; bravery is having a fear of doing something and still doing it... A person who doesn't know fear will never actually be brave.

Authors note:

Guys, do you believe that going to the university is worth it?

I don't have wood for writing, so I won't be able to live from this even if I like to write (yeah, this is that dream that you know you won't be able to accomplish). I'm pretty busy in IRL, To be exact. Everyone is, but I don't have much time to spend on this hobby.

Yes, it's a short chapter, but sorry, I don't know how to make exciting fights. :( IN A FIGHTING FANFIC... I'm a bit fucked.

When this gets to chapters 15-20, I'll make another work. Don't worry this will still be the main one.

What? That, HOW IN THE FUCK ARE YOU GONNA DO ANOTHER WORK IF YOU BARELY UPDATE?

Now that's a good question. I don't know either. I'll ask my future my what kinda of wizardry I used.

This is a Fan-fic and kinda like the training to learn how to write to make an original work. I don't want to make something terrible; I'm happy with decent.

Should I rework the first 4 chapters?

Here is the hour that I am writing this chapter:
