Chapter 12 Royal

(Why did I take so long for this chapter? 2 words: "Healthcare system")

The moment we opened the doors, a dazzling pattern of golden runes appeared and vanished in the blink of an eye.

*BANG!* Icaxis's sniper echoed through the chamber.

As the dust settled, what met our gaze this time was a new enemy that exuded an aura that conveyed immense power.

The colossal golem, a titan, stood adorned with arcane symbols that irradiated ancient might. This one was not an ordinary golem; it bore the regality of a king or noble draped in a royalty design.

Icaxis's shot struck the golem's armor, carving a dent into its robust exterior. Its eyes gleamed with eerie intensity as the air around him rippled with a weird energy that was familiar... Mana.

"Watch out, it can use magic too," I warned them so they would be wary of any kind of magical shenanigans that might happen.

Icaxis shot once more, yet this time, the golem seemed to anticipate his move, effortlessly intercepting the bullet with an invisible force and throwing it back at us.

The bullet glowed with a blue aura, stopping halfway and starting a pull-and-push game between the golem and me.

Undeterred, Winfred and Daniel unsheathed their swords, charging forward, aiming for the joints in the golem's imposing armor.

At the moment of impact, their blades met high resistance from the armor. The clash of metal resonated. The boss responded with a retaliatory strike.

Winfred faced the challenge head-on. Meanwhile, Daniel circled to the back; he lunged forward, eyeing the golem's weak points. His sight glinted as he focused his energy, with a blue aura enveloping his sword.

Yet even with its massive frame, the boss's speed defied our expectations. It moved with unnatural swiftness, dodging their strikes and blocking what he couldn't.

I tried to slow him down, but we ended up in a stalemate; my telekinetic force ended up pushing him, the only problem being that I was winning by a small margin.

As we were barely fending him off, the boss's arcane circuits began to glow, unleashing a shockwave of energy, sending us sprawling across the chamber. I felt the impact even in my bones, struggling to regain my composure.

The boss seized the opportunity, launching Daniel and Winfred across the chamber, quickly rushing to my position.

Shit, I'm already at my limit just counteracting his telekinesis... I said, "Why don't you act like a normal enemy that targets the first thing they see."

The golem's loud footsteps drummed in my ears as he got closer and closer.

THINK, DAMN IT!!! I'm already at my limit.

Dante couldn't think of a way out. He was already engaged with the telekinesis. If he stopped to throw himself to safety, the Golem could use it and stop him mid-air, and Outrunning the relentless titan was not an option either.

Dante's mind went blank without any plan in mind, so he just ran in the opposite direction, hoping for the best.

*BANG!* Icaxis shot his sniper once more.

Everyone thought that the same events would repeat.

Yet something different happened.

The bullet didn't stop midway.

Icaxis had just shot a special bullet, and the boss was busy defending himself from Dante's telekinesis, so it easily passed the telekinetic field.

The projectile crashed with the boss, pierced through his defenses, disrupting his movement.

Seizing the opportunity, Daniel charged forward, with a blue aura filling his body and sword, propelling his body at an astonishing speed. He even broke the ground where he was.

Yet, instead of trying to cut him, the grip of his sword changed, using the sword as a type of hammer.

The aftermath was a show of destruction. The once-imposing armor completely crumbled. Now, a dent covered half of the golem's body, even damaging his core. The shining armor is now just a mere echo of its former glory.

Daniel, fatigued and panting, stood amidst the debris. That move took a heavy toll on his body and mind.

The golem raised his sword, aiming to cut his head in one swift impact.

Before the golem's swords reached him, I sent him flying as fast as possible; he even crashed into the wall. Trying to reassure him, I yell, "Well, it's better than the alternative!"

Dante took a deep breath; this wasn't going as expected. But it could be won; the golem's core emanated a dark, eerie golden glow, proof that the damage Daniel inflicted was severe.

I shout, "I'll try something, Icaxis. I'm counting on you." Dante formulated a plan, although the quality was somewhat dubious.

The debris of the fight started floating with a blue aura around them. The damage the golem took disabled his magical abilities, and his core was already running out of energy, thus putting him into a desperate last stand. But Dante didn't know this.

"I hope this works." I gathered all the debris, positioning them above the golem. As they fell, I focused my mind, attempting to stop the golem's movements.

Icaxis exploited the opportunity, shooting the golem in the core. He could not deflect the bullet this time, as he was busy stopping the debris and Dante's telekinesis.

The golem's core, the source of his arcane energy, now lay shattered and fragmented. The remnants of the core were scattered like broken gemstones.

You could see how the golden glow in his eyes flickered, indicating his damage; I continued firing beams, moving backward to kite him. Yet somehow, he had the energy to keep fighting without his core.

The golem, a mere shell of its former self, crawled toward me. He had already lost half of his mass, leaving only the upper body.

Unexpectedly, the golem burst towards me, closing the distance between us with stunning speed. One of his limbs managed to catch me, grabbing my front leg.

I yelled, "LET ME GO!" I tried to brute force my way out, but it was impossible; the difference in strength was like heaven and earth.

The pressure on my leg intensified until...

*Crack* A dissonant sound filled the room. A bone just snapped. The pain surged through Dante's body, overwhelming and blurring his senses.

I screamed out, "FUUUUUCK!... YOU PIECE OF SHIT!!!" unleashing a barrage of lasers aimed at where his core was.

I didn't care about how much mana was left; I maintained the barrage of lasers until my reserves were completely depleted.

The radiant light of my horn extinguished; I didn't realize it, but I ran out of mana.

As the dust settled, the once-mighty shining golem is now only a remnant of what it once was.

*Haff*

I'll just close my eyes...

DON'T FALL ASLEEP... think about other things, uh... the fight feedback about the fight. Feedback...

Yes... Daniel Did his best. And Icaxis...

Icaxis... I'll repeat myself: ICAXIS IS BUSTED. That I'm the chosen one by a god? Yeah, sure... the only encouragement I have is that he is kind of like my personal gun because I move it telekinesis and, you know, all of that stuff...

My mental babbling was abruptly interrupted. The adrenaline that coursed through my veins began to disappear. Now, I was just in a state of complete exhaustion, accompanied by the pain of a broken leg.

Slowly, a burning sensation crept through every fiber of Dante's body.

At least it isn't as bad at the first time...

I say with what's left in my tank, "Hey, I'll fall asleep here. Hope you don't mind."

My eyes closed to take a nap. I'll deal with that stuff later; I just want to rest. A broken leg won't kill me.

I'm tired...

Since... When did I feel so tired?...

Shit...

Don't fall asle-...

FF: I ran out of ideas, so now this will be whatever I want it to be.

Author's note:

Yup, I need to learn how to write engaging fights. For now, I'll try to investigate a bit and add tiny details to the first chapters because the first impression is the most important... I hope.

It also took a lot of time because... I re-wrote the whole chapter, and I didn't even like how it ended... Hoping that is decent enough for y'all, at least.

If there is a big error, tell me in a comment. (Also, I think I'll get sick again. It's hard to explain, but my nose feels weird. I'll start to consume some pills to prevent anything from happening. Being sick sucks.)

Other stuff:

Tiny whiny spoiler from something (Lol from now I'll just throw random shit here that in a twisted way, is linked to something that might happen)

(You can skip this, though I don't think you can guess the connection.)

From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me.

I craved the strength and certainty of steel.

I aspired to the purity of the Blessed Machine.

Your kind clings to your flesh as if it will not decay and fail you.

One day, the crude biomass that you call a temple will wither, and you will beg my kind to save you.

But I am already saved, for the Machine is immortal…

...even in death, I serve the Omnissiah.
