In Another World as a…Bus Driver?

Benjamin Taklaw, a Filipino high school student who dreams of being a bus driver like his father, got killed by Truck-kun. He thought his life would be over, and his soul would be in the afterlife. But, he was given another chance to live his again, this time, as a bus driver in…a fantasy world? He literally woke up on a bus in another world as a young bus driver. Grasping on that opportunity, he, as a 16-year-old boy and bus driver named Russell May, is now living his new life in a new strange world, filled with monsters and magic. Along the way, he took in a snow village girl named Azalea, a low-ranked adventurer named Adrian Paulton, who was betrayed by his hero party in a dungeon, and a pair of twin dragon girls, Rai and Ria. They are now his new party and family. Together, they traveled the world through routes, picking up passengers of different races and socioeconomic backgrounds and dropping them off at their destinations of different kinds. Also, he discovered that he wasn’t alone in being reincarnated in that world: he was part of a class of creatures known as Renad. That group has different backgrounds of their previous lives, different ways they died, and best of all, different abilities, skills, and even equipment. And also, the fantasy world will have evil entities and an organization named the Square Order of the Squirrel, whose primary goal is to free the demon king, Malarka, from the seal that sealed him 1,000 years before.

Chapter 36 – An instigated disaster

Third person POV

Not long after, Russell arrived at that well, which was a good, functioning one with a crank to lower the bucket into the water below. It seemed that it was being used mostly for the Meal Zone's visitors. "Hmm…seems to be a functioning one…" he said to himself, before leaning over to see any water down below.

The fresh, drinkable water was there, and he pulled back to grab the bucket.

Then, he hooked its handle to the pully, before turning the crank to lower it to the bottom to get some water.

The bucket did so, and Russell turned the crank in the opposite direction to pull it out.

The bucket was full of water, so he unhooked it from the pulley and walked back to his table. There his friends are still eating and roasting the other skewers of vegetables. Russell then poured the water from the bucket and into their glasses, which were burrowed by Azalea from the owner of the Meal Zone. Once that was done, he put the bucket on the table and sat down on his seat next to John, before grabbing his glass and taking a sip.

Upon seeing that, his friends were grateful for him.

 "Thanks, Russell-kun!"

 "Yeah, thanks, man!"

Finishing his glass of water, Russell put his glass down and said to them positively, "Yup, you're welcome. Drink up."

His friends did so, and John couldn't drink his, so Russell grabbed it and poured the water directly into John's mouth.

This quenches the baby Dark Wolf's thirst, and John is happy for him. "Thank you, master."

Putting the glass down, Russell replied with a smile, "Anytime."

He then resumed eating his snack.

The others are happy while eating and drinking before Russell grabs the bucket and goes back to the well to get another bucketful of it just in case he and his group would go thirsty again.

The group stayed there until 4:10 p.m.

At that time, they stood up and cleaned up their mess. Once that was done, they gathered all their belongings and the burrowed equipment and left the table, before returning the equipment to the owner of the Meal Zone and leaving the place. After all that, the group eventually checked into an inn in the town to rest up for the afternoon. So, they had 3 rooms for themselves for low prices per night. Those 3 rooms were located on the third floor. And then, once they entered their rooms and settled done, the group eventually rested up for the rest of the afternoon.

As for their first night in the town, they spent it on their eating out at the town's food market, where street foods in oil and electric lamps-lightened stalls were being cooked and served. Their outing was happy, and all of them were having a fun time together. Also, at this point, no one around them noticed that the dragon family were dragons as humans.

After that eat-out, all of them returned to the inn to take a nice, warm bath at the inn's own bathhouse, before going back to their rooms in the inn to rest up for tomorrow's uncertainties and adventures. But, later in the middle of the night, a hooded figure, with his face being obscured from view, walked to one of the vast potato fields. His intention was to inflict it with insects to ruin them all. So, once he stood next to it, he outstretched his right hand and using his magic, summoned a horde of different insects that eat and destroy crops, before commanding them to eat the potatoes before him. The insects did so, ruining the potatoes and destroying them. With that, the figure put his hand down, turned around, and left the scene, disappearing into the shadows of the night's darkness.

But who was that person?

Is he connected to the threat that had come into the town earlier?
