But, he was given another chance to live his again, this time, as a bus driver in…a fantasy world? He literally woke up on a bus in another world as a young bus driver. Grasping on that opportunity, he, as a 16-year-old boy and bus driver named Russell May, is now living his new life in a new strange world, filled with monsters and magic. Along the way, he took in a snow village girl named Azalea, a low-ranked adventurer named Adrian Paulton, who was betrayed by his hero party in a dungeon, and a pair of twin dragon girls, Rai and Ria. They are now his new party and family. Together, they traveled the world through routes, picking up passengers of different races and socioeconomic backgrounds and dropping them off at their destinations of different kinds. Also, he discovered that he wasn’t alone in being reincarnated in that world: he was part of a class of creatures known as Renad. That group has different backgrounds of their previous lives, different ways they died, and best of all, different abilities, skills, and even equipment. And also, the fantasy world will have evil entities and an organization named the Square Order of the Squirrel, whose primary goal is to free the demon king, Malarka, from the seal that sealed him 1,000 years before.

Chapter 37 – A Pestilence?

Russell's POV

The next morning, after we woke up, we had some breakfast and went out for our next adventure in town. Everyone in my group was happy and ready to tackle today's challenges. The weather for today is sunny, and the environment is busy for this morning's hours. I wore my bus driver's uniform as always, every day from day 1 of my new life in this world. "I felt we should explore this town more," Azalea said to us.

Adrian and I then nodded.

 "Yes."

 "Yup!"

At the same time, I started to like my new life in this world.

It was just like less than a week ever since I was reincarnated into this world, but my ability to adapt to the new environment and like this new life is high.

Then, we entered one of the town's potato fields, only to hear a series of screams of despair coming from the field. We got alerted very fast.

 "What was that?"

 "Someone's screaming!"

 "What is going on there?"

We then ran towards the direction of where that scream came from.

When we arrived there, a farmer was on his knees while crying hard in despair. His hands were on his head as he was crying in despair. "Are you okay, sir?" I asked him.

The farmer then turned around with tears on his cheeks. "My potato field…is ruined…"

"What?" Kelly replied back, before she and we looked at it.

Then, we were shocked to see it having eaten and ruined potatoes, and it was an entire field of it.

Yes, the entire of the field owned by this farmer was struck by a pestilence.

 "No way…" I commented.

"How is this possible?" Rai asked.

The farmer then wiped his tears with his arms and stood up, before taking off his farmer's hat. "I don't know. The insects might do it."

We understood what this person said.

The insects might be the culprit for this.

"Wait, how?" I asked the farmer. "Is this month a season for insects' migration or something?"

The farmer then sighed. "No, that would 2 months from now, in the season of summer."

Adrian then said to me, "This season is currently spring, so there's no way a bunch of insects, like grasshoppers, would go here and eat up people's crops."

Listening to him, me and my group agreed since it made a lot of more sense.

Azalea mentioned that her village barely experienced any pestilence due to its high altitude.

"Because of this," the farmer said to us solemnly and calmly, "I guessed me and my family have to rely on the extra stock we stored up for years until my next planting time."

"How about your sales from selling your crops, sir?" Ria asked.

"I have to rely on my other fields to make up for that," responded the farmer, before looking over at his other fields, which were safe and out of danger.

We looked at them, and we were relieved that the farmer would have something to harvest and sell for money.

But the sight of his pest-ruined field made us aware that insects might have a weird and shifting behavior on eating people's crops.

So, I said to the farmer, "We understand. Do you need any help from us?"

"No, I'm fine, young man, thank you," the farmer nicely replied back while putting his hat on. "You and your friends might leave and carry on."

Because of that, we left the fields as the farmer wavered us goodbye.

But still, it doesn't make sense that a pestilence would strike a farming field on a wrong season of the year.

And also, I wondered if I could use and conjure my newly discovered lightning magic myself, but how? I probably need someone to train me because to be honest…I don't know how to do it. The system screen didn't give me much information on how to use and utilize my lightning magic. Well…let's just find it out somehow…
