Chapter 1- Mummy hug

"Happy birthday Grandpa Dan" A lady trotted towards an elderly man in his early sixties.

She was dressed in a red strapless gown. Her hair which was in curly waves dropped on one side giving her angular face more beauty.

"Aiyoo,!!! Old man Dan, you are so lucky" one of the elderly men standing close to Grandpa Dan said.

"What do you mean Elder Jon?" Grandpa Dan smiled as he stared at his granddaughter who was approaching him.

"Look at you, you have so many successful descendants. Director Ann is one of the living testimony." Elder Jon laughed.

"Happy birthday Grandpa," Ann said.

Grandpa Dan looked at his granddaughter, pride brimming in his eyes.

"Thank you, Ann"

"It's nothing Grandpa" Ann smiled. " ohh I have a surprise for Grandpa"

"Ohhh, even the birthday boy had surprises" Elder Edward came closer to them, clinking glasses. "You should be proud of your granddaughter Old Man Dan" Elder Edward place his arm on Grandpa Dan. "She is a business prodigy, she graduated from the best university in X country and had taken your empire to greater heights ever since she took over as Director."

"Stop flattering me" Grandpa Dan rebuked, but his face was brimming with pride.

The people around him laughed loudly, teasing Grandpa Dan.

"Wow"!! an excited voice cried out. " Isn't that Chef Mark."

Everyone looked towards the new people coming inside the hall. The leading man was wearing a white uniform with a chef cap on his head. He looks to be in his late forties.

"Happy birthday sir" The leading man greeted Grandpa Dan. "I am here on an invitation to wish you a happy birthday."

Grandpa looked at Chef Mark, his lips quivering with excitement. He looked at Ann,

"Is this your surprise?"

Ann looked at Chef Mark slowly nodding her head

"I invited him, Grandpa."

"Oh, my God." A girl said, she touched her cheek and said. " Chef Mark is one of the elite Chefs around the world."

"I heard you can't invite him with money, as he is very hard to get," Another said.

"I wanted to attend a birthday party, but now I am seeing Chef Mark live, and not on Tv!!!!

"Oh, my heart"!!! Elder Jon touched his chest. " What did you do to deserve this kind of grandchild."

Grandpa Jon smiled so happily that all his winkles were showing.

"Ann"

"It's nothing, Grandpa, I can go miles for you. Besides you have always liked watching Chef Mark cooking documentaries" Ann replied as she helped Grandpa Dan get settled on the high chair.

" As a birthday gift for Elder Dan, I and my student will be preparing my signature dish"

Everyone cheered happily when they heard this.

Not everyone gets to taste Chef Mark's Signature dish!!!!

"Sis Ann is the best." A girl of about twenty years old hugged Ann's arms lovingly.

Ann gently tapped her forehead " Don't praise me too much Anna"

"You need all the praise sis, you are the best" Anna looked at Ann in a fawning manner.

The preparation of the dishes took place immediately. The sound of sizzling, frying, boiling, and steaming could be heard in the open arena. Before long, the aroma of the food spread to all corners of the hall.

Everyone started salivating. The mouth-watering dishes were served to everyone in the hall.

"Hmmmm" Anna squinted her eyes. " This is the best meal I have had so far this year"

Grandpa Dan couldn't be more satisfied. He looked graciously at Ann not knowing the best way to thank her for this special birthday gift.

After the preparation and serving of the dishes, Chef Mark, along with his crew left the party.

Grandpa Dan came to a sudden realization as he looked at the man that was standing beside him.

" Where is Lily?"

The man looked at Grandpa Dan and said nonchalantly.

"I don't know where she is"

"But she is your daughter" Grandpa argued

"Ann already filled up that space, I can't have a bastard as a child"

"Wyatt,!!!! how can you call her a bastard?"!!!

Grandpa Dan looked at his son angrily.

Wyatt was his only son and the ruler of his Empire. He had three daughters, Anna, Ann, and Lily. Lily was the first fruit of Wyatt and his first wife.

After the death of his first wife, he got remarried to another lady who had a child outside marriage. The child was Ann. Anna is the last child of the family that was born to Wyatt.

"Dad, don't get Grandpa angry today," Ann said as she separated the two.

Grandpa Dan sat down on his chair with a huff. He loved Lily with all his heart. The child has always been cheerful and her laughter always brightens up even the darkest heart.

"Is that not movie queen Lily Smith?" A girl gasped in surprise.

All eyes were turned on the beauty queen that has just stepped foot into the hall.

She possesses an exquisite beauty that captivates the attention of all those who lay eyes upon her. Her appearance is characterized by a delicate balance between elegance and grace. Her features are symmetrical, with a flawless complexion that seems to glow with an inner radiance.

Her eyes, like deep pools of enchantment, draw others in with their mesmerizing gaze. They are large and expressive, adorned with long, dark lashes that frame them like a work of art.

Her lips are soft and inviting, forming a perfect cupid's bow. Her teeth, pearly white and perfectly aligned, add to the brilliance of her smile.

Her black long hair cascades down in waves of silk, flowing effortlessly around her shoulders, it frames her face with elegance

Her figure is statuesque, with gentle curves that accentuate her femininity. She possesses a natural grace in her every movement, gliding through the room with poise and confidence. Her posture is impeccable, conveying both strength and grace.

"Happy birthday Grandpa" Lily smiled, her white teeth complimenting her red plush lips.

"Old man Dan" Elder Edward said. " You are truly blessed"

"Lil Sis, why are you late to Grandpa's birthday, he had been worried about you," Ann said coming closer to Lily.

When she stood beside Lily her beauty become dimmed.

To others, Ann sounds like she is worried over her sister, but looks like someone is trying to play dirty.

"Is the movie queen being too arrogant even on her grandfather's birthday?"

"Look at how late she is"

Ann looked at Lily with a smug look in her eyes.

" I think big sis should worry more about her reputation than mine" Lily moved closer to Ann and whispered into her ears. " Be careful not to annoy me or else your secret with Chef Mark will be one the headlines first thing tomorrow morning"

Ann dug her fingers into her palm as she gritted her teeth.

'How did this bastard know?'

"I am sorry I came late Grandpa." Lily stares at her grandfather.

She had just finished the publication of a movie after so many days of intense work.

She had to take the first flight back home to attend her grandfather's birthday.

"Big sis" Anna hugged Lily's arms. " What gift have you prepared for Grandfather"

Grandfather Dam looked at Lily expectantly.

Lily's gift would be more surprising right?

Lily looked at the expectant faces everyone uses to look at her. She was short of words as she had forgotten to prepare birthday gifts.

Anna use her hands to cover her mouth as If she was shocked by something. "Did sis forget to prepare birthday gifts for Grandpa?"

Murmuring could be heard in every corner of the hall.

Ann smiled In a sinister way as she saw the difficult position Lily was put in.

"How could you forget about preparing gifts for Grandpa on his birthday?"

Anna continued with her dramatic monologue.

"Is it because you are now a star, that's why you deem it below your status to give gifts to poor grandpa"

Anna walked towards her Grandpa Dan, sitting down on the chair closest to him

"Grandpa" Anna said, " Look at the granddaughter you use all your life to train, has forgotten to give you a birthday gift"

"How can she be so ungrateful?" A lady said to her friend

" Isn't it better to not have a child at all than to have a child that doesn't even remember to gift someone on his birthday"

A lot of negative comments arose against Lily which made her speechless.

Ann smirked at her.

"I regret the day you were born into my family" Wyatt spat out staring at Lily disgustingly.

Lily tried to defend herself but couldn't find the right words to say.

She walked forward to explain everything to Grandpa Dan when a tiny cute voice cried out suddenly.

"Mummy"

Everyone stared wide-eyed at the little bunny that hugged Lily's legs so tight.

"Did I just hear mummy?"

"Who is the mother of the child?"

"How did the child get into this party?"

The guests look confused and thought they had heard wrong when suddenly the little bunny raised her short chubby hands towards Lily and said

" Mommy hug"
