...

To be frank, even though it was just a game, Chu Cheng couldn't help but feel a jolt of shock witnessing such a scene.

Wasn't this game supposed to be rated PG13?

The PG13 rating typically denotes content in movies and television shows that may require parental guidance for children under 13, usually without any overly intense or graphic elements.

Yet, seeing the headless figure in the conference room below holding its own severed head was far from ordinary.

Chu Cheng couldn't help but question if there was a strange misconception among the production team regarding the PG13 rating. Imagine a child eagerly unwrapping a newly purchased game during a weekend break, envisioning themselves transforming into a superhero to save the world, only to be confronted with such a startling scene in the opening level. Such an explosive beginning might not only bury the child's youthful excitement but could also foreshadow future nightmares.

But the unsettling scene didn't end there. Not only did the man named Edge remain steadfast after severing his head, but he even advanced step by step with his head in his hands.

The contents of the severed head dripped onto the floor, leaving a ghastly bloodstain, yet everyone in the conference room seemed unperturbed, behaving as if carrying one's head was perfectly normal.

As the crew-cut man stepped aside, a nearby cabinet in the conference room unexpectedly shifted, revealing a secret door behind it. Beyond the door stood a black statue.

Exquisitely crafted yet disturbingly distorted, the statue bore an inhuman form with countless arms protruding from its bony frame, each twisted and contorted like gnarled tree branches.

Chu Cheng couldn't recall encountering anything resembling this statue before. However, its presence evoked a profound sense of unease, its grotesque form searing into the mind and taking root in the deepest recesses of nightmares.

Approaching the statue, Edge presented his severed head. Even more chilling was the head's apparent consciousness, displaying a reverent and almost euphoric expression, sending shivers down Chu Cheng's spine.

As the headless body raised its head, the severed head rapidly disintegrated into a mist of flesh and blood, absorbed by the grotesque statue as if drawn by an invisible gravitational force.

With the head vanishing from his grasp, Edge's headless body suddenly slumped to the ground, resembling a marionette whose strings had been abruptly severed.

The eyes of the twisted sculpture flickered with a scarlet glow as the crew-cut man led the others in the conference room to bow reverently, paying devout homage to the sinister statue.

A swift sounding cut through the air, catching the attention of everyone in the room. A bat-shaped dart, pitch-black and deadly, embedded itself into the black sculpture with a sharp snap.

The crew-cut man was the first to react, his astonishment evident as he noticed the dart lodged in the statue's chest and abdomen, its red indicator light flickering ominously.

Boom!

The dart, packed with highly concentrated explosives, detonated with tremendous force, reducing the black statue to countless fragments that scattered across the room.

"Who dares?!" The flat-headed man's voice rang out angrily.

In an instant, the room was plunged into darkness as a faint sound signaled the activation of a tiny electromagnetic pulse, a signature gadget of Batman's. Darkness was Batman's ally, and he often utilized electromagnetic pulse weapons to disable electronic equipment, including lights and surveillance systems, before launching his operations.

While this granted him the advantage of acting in the shadows, instilling fear of the unknown in his enemies, it also exposed his presence beforehand.

As everyone in the room rose to their feet, a spherical flare rolled into the center of the floor, detonating with a deafening boom. Blinding light flooded the room, overwhelming their senses before they could adjust to the sudden darkness.

Seizing the opportunity, Batman leaped from the ventilation duct, landing gracefully amidst the chaos of the conference room.

This was no longer a stealthy infiltration; it was about swiftly neutralizing the threat. Chu Cheng finally unleashed Batman's full potential, manipulating him with lightning speed. Batman moved with the agility of a predator, incapacitating one person and fracturing the limbs of two others in the blink of an eye.

However, Chu Cheng soon noticed something peculiar about these adversaries.

Take the portly bald man, for example. Batman applied a joint-lock technique, expecting him to writhe in pain as previous foes had. Yet, to Chu Cheng's surprise, the man showed no signs of incapacitation. According to past encounters, he should have been incapacitated, writhing on the ground in agony, unable to fight back.

But in that moment, it seemed as though the man had been injected with adrenaline, as he dragged his broken arm and continued to charge forward fearlessly, showing no signs of pain whatsoever.

And it only got more bizarre.

Take the flat-headed man, for instance. Chu Cheng executed the "quick-fire bat dart" skill in the midst of his combo, tapping the number key 1 twice to command Batman to swiftly launch a bat dart.

A danger indicator hovered over the crew-cut man, poised to strike. Batman, following Chu Cheng's input, hurled a backhand dart that struck the crew-cut man's outstretched left hand with pinpoint accuracy, pinning it to the wall behind him.

Unfazed, the flat-headed man exerted force twice in an attempt to free his impaled hand, but finding it futile, he simply retrieved a dagger with his free right hand. Without a change in expression, he raised the knife and ruthlessly severed his entire left hand at the wrist, disregarding the gushing blood.

Throughout this ordeal, his expression remained stoic, as if impervious to pain like a Terminator, brandishing the blade and pressing forward, ignoring the severed hand and its crimson fountain, continuing his relentless advance.

Another assailant, despite having his leg joints gruesomely dislocated by Batman's kick, immediately rose to his feet, seemingly unaffected, and resumed his assault by hopping on one foot...

Brain matter and viscera splattered across the carpet, transforming the meeting room into a macabre scene straight out of a nightmare. Through the screen, Chu Cheng could almost smell the sickening stench of evil permeating the air.

This was certainly a game with a distinct flavor.

The reckless abandon displayed by these lunatics sent Chu Cheng's sanity meter plummeting. For a moment, he even questioned whether he had chosen the right game. It felt less like a superhero-themed adventure and more like a descent into the depths of some Lovecraftian horror. The Batman he controlled seemed more akin to a seasoned investigator...

Thankfully, though deranged, these adversaries posed little challenge for Batman, with his mastery of combat techniques and an arsenal of high-tech gadgets.

From another perspective, Batman possessed a unique advantage when facing madmen, a professional aptitude for dealing with such adversaries that other vigilantes might lack.

In just a matter of minutes, the lunatics littering the conference room floor had been subdued.

Only one remained standing.

Struggling to rise from his position against the wall, the flat-headed man defiantly faced Batman with fierce eyes, his left hand severed, his right arm fractured, and his left leg dislocated.

With three limbs incapacitated, and even considering the legendary "third leg," he still managed to stand—an impressive feat, Chu Cheng couldn't help but acknowledge.

With blood still seeping from his severed limb, he hopped forward on one foot, his arms dangling limply, his gaze fixed on Batman with unbridled malice.

Chu Cheng maintained his cautious stance, preparing to command Batman to continue the onslaught.

But before he could act, the man abruptly halted.

Boom.

The crew-cut man's head exploded into a crimson mist.
