After Kaiya's mother locked her in the cage and committed suicide, she lost all meaning in life. She thought of dying right after she got rescued, as she couldn't even take revenge on those who tortured her for her whole life since they were already dead. She couldn't find the meaning behind her life. Why was she even alive? She couldn't even answer this simple question.
Even in her orphanage, she got bullied by others. She didn't have the strength to resist, so she just endured it like she was some kind of doll who wouldn't say anything no matter what you did. This treatment from others only made her more resolute to kill herself.
But then, on her 18th birthday, it seemed that even God took pity on her, and she was able to awaken her ability, which is a very rare thing to do since most people can't awaken abilities naturally and need to use an ability book to learn them.
Realizing this, she became hopeful as she thought things might be different from now on. But reality can be cruel sometimes.
Even though she awakened her ability, it wasn't helpful in combat. All she could do was see the world differently from how normal people saw it, so her ability was deemed garbage by others.
But she still didn't lose hope, thinking that even though her ability was not good, the people in her academy would be kind, and she would be able to make friends and live her life normally once again, forgetting all her past trauma.
But life again played a joke on her. On the first day of school, she got bullied by a group of girls. Hundreds of people saw this, but none stopped them from bullying her. At that moment, she finally lost all hope. She just wanted to die. But then he came into her life.
Jin Wei, her savior. He saved her like a knight in shining armor. He was giving off such a beautiful yet dangerous red light that she instantly got mesmerized by it. She fell in love with him so deeply that not even God could stop her from loving him.
As time passed, seeing him working so hard, she got worried, so she began to follow him around. When he entered the dungeon, she didn't even think twice about entering as she thought he might be in danger. Even if it meant giving her life to save him, she would do anything to save her savior who saved her, not only from bullying but from life itself, which was constantly pulling pranks on her.
Kaiya was thankful that she had entered the dungeon with him, or he would have died by that goblin there. Although she was able to save him once, when she was about to get defiled by those dirty goblins, he again saved her. Her love for him deepened even more.
But then she fell unconscious, and when she woke up, she noticed Jin Wei on a deathbed. He had aged hundreds of years, his aura was getting weaker, his organs were failing, and he was dying. She did everything in her power to save him, but nothing worked, and now he was dead.
Although she didn't know the reason why this happened, she believed that it must be her fault, as she couldn't help him when he must have needed someone the most.
He was always there for her when she needed him, but why wasn't she there when he needed her?
"I am so incompetent," Kaiya muttered as a last drop of tear left her eyes.
Then she got up from the floor and began to search the whole cave for something. After a few minutes, she finally stopped as if she had found something. She picked it up and it turned out to be a rock, but it wasn't some ordinary stone. It looked extremely sharp, and if one didn't hold it carefully, their hand might get cut due to its sharpness.
Kaiya just smiled as she found the thing she wanted. Then she hurriedly went towards Jin Wei and again sat down beside him with a warm but sad smile on her face. She whispered, "Life is really cruel, isn't it?"
"Since I couldn't be with you while I was alive, I will be with you when we are dead," Kaiya declared. She placed the stone on her neck. It was so sharp that already a layer of her skin got cut just by placing it on her neck. Some blood came out of her neck.
"I hope we meet again in the afterlife. Even if it's hell, as long as you are there, I am happy to go," Kaiya muttered. Just before she could push the stone even deeper into her throat, Kaiya felt like she heard something.
Out of curiosity and to see her love one last time, she activated her ability. As soon as she did, she noticed a small red light inside Jin Wei glowing like fire. Even though it was weak, it was still there, meaning he was somehow alive again.
Kaiya hurriedly put down the sharp stone and placed her ear on top of his chest, only to find that his heart was beating once again.
This was nothing but a miracle. His heart had stopped beating an hour ago, but now it began to beat again. That's not all; with her ability, she could tell that all the organs in his body were beginning to work again. But he still wasn't breathing.
Kaiya wasn't worried about that. As long as his heart was beating and he still had the red light in him, she firmly believed that he could be saved.
With that thought, she did the first thing that entered her mind. She quickly cut her palm, and as the blood began to come out of it, she quickly placed it on top of Jin Wei's mouth.
Unlike before, when Jin Wei wasn't able to drink it, this time, as soon as the blood entered his throat, he consumed it in one gulp.
As soon as the blood entered his throat, it was like a bolt of current passed through his body.
"Huf… puff…" Jin Wei finally breathed once again. Seeing this, tears of joy began to automatically escape from Kaiya's eyes.
"Gasp… urgh…" Jin Wei gasped, a raw, guttural sound tearing from his throat. His chest heaved violently, pulling in lungfuls of precious oxygen. The air rushed in and out in frantic, uneven bursts. His body convulsed with each breath, desperate to make up for lost time.
His eyes flew open, wild and unfocused, searching for an anchor in the chaos. Sweat slicked his skin, mingling with the salty tang of tears he hadn't realized was there.
As the seconds ticked by, the initial frenzy began to subside. His breaths, still heavy and labored, gradually found a rhythm.
Then, as Jin Wei weakly opened his eyes for a second, he noticed Kaiya's crying figure beside him, who was now helping him drink her blood.
Seeing her, Jin Wei's eyes again shut down, as he was too exhausted to stay conscious currently, considering he almost died twice in a single day. And as for this last one, he came back from death itself, it was not a good experience at all. It was just too much for him to handle.
