Secrets are no longer secrets.

Vern swallowed, his face stiff expressing the same fear as when he first met Zay. However, that didn't last long when they heard someone shout in surprise, staring at them. They turned towards the door and found an elegant woman crying in the elevator door.

"Mama?" Vern widened his eyes, not expecting to see Maini in the hospital elevator in such a pathetic state.

Zay looked at Vern, then blinking with a shocked changed face immediately released her grip. She moved away from Vern while turning her body to the side.

Meanwhile, Vern ran over to Maini. He tried to calm the situation, "Don't worry about me, we were just joking, Ma. Why are you here?"

"Vern, who is that man? Why did he want to hit you? Tell me!" Maini could not calm down with Vern's statement. She cried as she pointed at Zay who smiled awkwardly at her.

Before Vern could answer Maini's question, they were distracted by some hospital visitors who wanted to use the elevator. One of them asked, "Sorry we need to get off, can you give us a way?"

The elevator was open while Vern and Maini were still right in the middle of the elevator doors. So that the visitors who were confused by the situation felt disturbed.

"Ohh, sorry. We'll be out of the way soon," Vern replied while embracing Maini. He led his mama out of the elevator to make way for the visitors.

Zay was unable to move forward as the elevator became full as the visitors entered it. She could only see Vern and Maini through the gaps between the heads of the visitors. Before the elevator doors closed, she heard Maini's statement of protest.

"Gosh, Vern! Why are you causing so much trouble? Did you really just hand over your position and wealth to Jack like that!" Maini turned her head quickly towards the elevator whose doors were closing. Maini's eyes met Zay's, her memory faintly recognizing Zay's face that was not so familiar to her.

"Wait, don't let that bastard go! He needs to be taught a lesson first!" Maini pointed at Zay. Unfortunately, it wasn't long before the elevator doors were fully closed and moving downwards.

Vern shook his head as he realized that they were the center of attention. He quickly blocked Maini's gaze, grabbing her shoulders as he pleaded, "Please calm down, Ma. Breathe in slowly, then exhale!"

Maini, who had lost Zay, was forced to stare at Vern. She couldn't calm down, and instead vented her anger on Vern. Maini released Vern's grip and punched him in the chest while swearing, "You stupid kid! You wasted all your father's hard work and struggle so easily!"

"I don't accept it! Go apologize to Jack, then cancel all those bullshit negotiations!"

"Mama, enough!" shouted Vern loudly. He could no longer bear to see Maini lose control. Vern held Maini's hand with tears about to fall as he remembered that his father died because of Jack. He tried hard to hold back the tears by looking away for a moment to control his emotions.

Maini couldn't move in the strong grip of Vern's hand. She cried again, not expecting Vern to shout at her in front of so many people. So, Maini was so sad that she felt her chest tighten, aching.

"What happened to you, son? Did I fail to educate you? You were the only person who made me strong, but why did you attack me instead?" wailed the wounded Maini.

Vern let out a long sigh as he watched Maini bemoan his fate. What's more, the growing crowd was talking about the two of them. So Vern wanted to end this classic drama immediately.

"I'm really sorry, Ma. I have my own reasons, so please stop this. I promise I'll tell you everything." Vern pleaded for the umpteenth time. He clasped his hands together in front of his chest, looking sad and hoping Maini would see his sincerity.

Maini stopped crying, she could feel Vern's sincerity and nodded while wiping away the tears, "Okay. Tell me everything and don't hide any secrets from me!"

"I promise, Mom," Vern replied with a firm nod.

Maini looked away, then stood up straight and walked towards the hallway through the crowd of visitors nonchalantly, as if nothing had happened. Elsewhere, just inside the elevator the other hospital visitors were also busy talking about secrets.

"Wow, did anyone see that the woman and the young man were the Vlodostok family? I wonder, is it true that the issue that was kept secret by all the media was revealed that Vern is no longer the CEO of the Glory group?"

"I think so. I'm sure that that young man was Vern Vlodostok, because that elegant lady called him that."

That young man is so handsome, I also believe he is Vern. Ohh, so handsome!" A young woman praised Vern's handsome face, she replayed her memories slowly as she observed Vern's face earlier.

"Haishh, that's not the point. I had read in one of the online newspapers that Vern is no longer a member of the Vlodostok family, but it's strange. Why would bad news about the Vlodostok family spread freely like that?" asked a man in a tie while crossing his arms, as if he was thinking hard about the possibilities.

At the sound of the elevator doors opening, an old man who had been the only listener in the Vlodostok family's conversation finally spoke up. He waved his hand, "Let's not think about those who are rich, it's better to think about each other's lives more usefully."

"The door is already open, are you going to stay here to talk about the Vlodostok family?" sneered the old man who walked out of the elevator first.

All the visitors seemed to agree, as there was no denial. In the end they all exited the elevator and left Zay alone.

"Vern is no longer the Vlodostok family, but why?" muttered Zay as she stepped towards the elevator doors that were about to close as they opened again. She thought hard as she recalled all the events since she became the Vlodostok family's bodyguard until now.

"Is that elegant woman Vern's mama?" Zay muttered while putting her left hand to her waist. She paused, kicking the empty air restlessly, "Damn! Why am I always causing trouble?"

Zay realized that Vern had been a good guy who had always helped her. She was annoyed remembering his bad behavior towards Vern, especially getting angry and being rude.

"Haishh, I have to start learning to control my emotions. Before that I'm going to bed," Zay muttered regretfully, she was so dizzy that he decided to stop thinking about her answer. She walked back to the exit and wanted to lie down on her bed immediately.

Zay made it through the building, she was standing on the sidewalk near the hospital. Zay reached into every pocket of her pants and jacket. Her panicked face ended in a curse, "Arggh, shit! Must have been that asshole bodyguard, they should have reminded me to bring my wallet before attacking me! So, how am I supposed to get home?"
