One day after the incident that shocked the hospital, today seemed normal with all its activities. In the hallway of the hospital many people passed by quietly, there was also a Doctor and Vern who stood opposite each other.
"After we checked the overall condition of the patient on behalf of Zay was quite good. The wounds on his body are quite deep, so it's no wonder that he needed a blood transfusion beforehand. But don't worry, the patient will likely recover within 3 days," explained the Doctor standing in front of Zay's hospital room.
"Thankfully, I'm very relieved to hear the news, Doc. Thank you for your efforts," replied Vern, smiling happily. Vern, who had been showing a gloomy face, was now starting to relax.
However, this was not the case with the Doctor. The Doctor's face showed an awkwardness, as if he wanted to say something but was confused between whether he needed to or not.
Vern looked towards Zay's room, he wanted to go in there but was blocked by the Doctor who was still standing in front of him. Vern's gaze was distracted by the Doctor's face. He was curious, so he asked, "Sorry, Doc. Is there anything else I need to know about my friend's condition?"
"Ohh, no. I'll be going now," the doctor said as he shook his head, despite the turmoil in his heart. The doctor walked past Vern who nodded, understanding his answer.
Vern had just taken one step towards Zay's room. The doctor suddenly turned around and said, "She is very strong for a woman. However, keep a close eye on her for the next 3 months so that she doesn't suffer such a severe injury again."
"Okay, Doc. I'll try to remind her," Vern replied looking to the side with a wider smile. It was more like holding back a laugh when he realized the Doctor was surprised that Zay was a woman.
"Ohh, it turns out nurse Ann wasn't lying," The doctor tilted his head, he thought it was too much to ask something outside of his profession. He refrained from asking anything else, he decided to leave Vern.
Vern could still hear the doctor muttering, "I still can't believe she's a woman. I may have gone crazy, huh. What's wrong with me? I should stop finding out about patients' personalities. Come on, let's get back to work."
"Let alone you, Doc. I still feel crazy when I see Zay's behavior," Vern muttered with an amused laugh at the bitter memory of accidentally touching Zay's sensitive parts. He rubbed his face, looked down and shook his head hoping the memory would fade from his brain.
Vern's footsteps were already approaching Zay's hospital room, he was just about to put his hand on the door knob, but the door opened by itself.
"Oh my! What are you doing here? Go back to your place!" Vern shouted in a raised voice. His forehead was wrinkled, unable to understand Zay's behavior.
"No way, I'm tired of being here. I want to sleep at home. Get out of the way first, you're in my way," Zay said casually. She was busy putting on a new black suit, then commented, "Thank you, it suits me perfectly."
"Oh my God, I've gone completely mad. Is there any tranquilizer for me?" Vern grumbled while holding his head, then his left hand moved to his waist. He had run out of ways to deal with Zay.
"Are you sick too?" asked Zay while looking at Vern.
Vern didn't answer, he pulled Zay's arm back into her room. Zay knitted his eyebrows as she jerked his hand to release Vern's grip.
"What are you doing? I'm already healthy and don't want to be here anymore. Why are you forcing me?" Zay snapped with an annoyed expression as she turned to look at Vern.
"Gosh, this woman is so hard to manage! Well, let's just say you're bored. Are you allowed to go home by the doctor? This is a hospital, not your home where you can leave whenever you want!" protested Vern while massaging his temples. He was angry because he was so worried about Zay's health.
"I'm sure I can. Where's the doctor? I want to talk," Zay said confidently. She turned around, stepping out into the hospital hallway.
"Damn, what happened!" grumbled Vern. He had lost the argument with Zay and was forced to follow Zay's wishes.
Vern walked behind Zay, he said in an annoyed tone, "We'll see, surely the Doctor won't let you go home! I already warned you, don't blame me later!"
"Yeah! Whatever you say!" Zay replied while raising her left hand above her head. She continued walking without looking back.
Zay stopped briefly to ask the nurse who had just come out of the patient's room. Then she was led to the Doctor's room by the nurse.
Vern was still lazy to talk to Zay, he just silently observed and occasionally sneered, "She must have failed."
"Excuse me, Doc. This patient would like to see you." The nurse said after knocking on the door, then opening it.
The doctor who was busy at the computer looked up. He said, "Please come in!"
"Yes, Doc," the nurse replied with a nod. She still held the door knob, then opened it wide to let Zay and Vern in. The nurse left, not forgetting to close the door.
The doctor invited them to sit down while observing the two of them. The doctor looked at each one, he didn't recognize Zay who was wearing a cool suit was his patient and stopped looking at Vern, he asked, "Is there anything I can help you with? Does this conversation concern your friend's condition?"
"Exactly, Doc. I'm feeling well and can't wait to go home." Zay answered first. She was overjoyed and smiled widely to show the positive impression that she had indeed recovered 100%.
The doctor turned to Zay with an uncomprehending look, then turned to Vern again for an answer.
"This person you see next to me is my friend. She has a history of acute stubbornness, Doc. Please heal her," Vern replied while pointing at Zay without turning to her. He looked at the Doctor with hope that he would help him tame Zay.
"Really? Isn't your friend seriously injured and still lying on the hospital bed?" asked the doctor in surprise. The doctor unconsciously stood up, walking closer to Zay to observe her whole body.
"You can see for yourself how I am now, Doc. So, let me go home," Zay replied with a big smile, even standing up and opening her coat to show the doctor that her wound had dried up.
"Don't give her permission, Doc! We don't know what will happen to her later. You also said that she's recovering for the next three days!" Vern called out to warn the Doctor. He also stood parallel to the Doctor in front of Zay.
The Doctor gaped with sparkling eyes, amazed by Zay's recovery process took a stand. He closed his mouth, stood up straight and sat back in his chair. The doctor said, "What Mr. Vern said is correct."
"I promise to take complete rest while at home, take my medicine regularly and don't forget to check my health during recovery, Doc. Are you forcing a healthy patient to stay? Isn't this not right, Doc?" Zay explained her opinion clearly, making it difficult for the Doctor to decide.
Vern frowned, he knew Zay's explanation sounded quite reasonable. However, he couldn't just accept it, so he wanted to deny it. When Vern opened his mouth, Zay suddenly put her forefinger right on his mouth.
"Please, trust me." Zay's blue eyes gazed at Vern tearfully, pleading sincerely from the bottom of her heart.
Vern was unable to refuse, he didn't know that Zay had such beautiful irises that made him want to swim into the feelings of their owner.
"Well, I've decided," the Doctor said, ruining Vern's beautiful imagination. So the two of them refocused on the Doctor to hear his response, "I allow you to go home, provided you keep all your promises. If you don't, take the consequences on yourself and don't sue me in the future."
Zay smiled widely as he quickly replied, "I promise, Doc. Thank you very much."
The long debate was won by Zay. Meanwhile, Vern, who looked annoyed at first, finally accepted with a smile. Was it because Zay's beautiful eyes had hypnotized Vern?
After finishing from the Doctor's room, the two of them walked back down the hallway. Zay didn't stop smiling along the way as she looked at Vern, then praised herself, "I did it, there's no denying that I'm good at everything."
"Yeaaah," Vern replied flatly. They both stood in front of the elevator for a while, when the doors opened they both entered and turned to face the doors that were starting to close. Vern looked away as he grumbled, "What a stone-headed woman!"
Zay stopped smiling and pulled Vern by the collar until they were facing each other. Zay, who had been being sweet, turned angry in an instant. She snapped at Vern, "Say it again!"
The sound of the elevator doors opening and revealing the tense atmosphere managed to make someone scream in fear, "Oh my God! Don't hit my child!"
