Viktor looked at her and said "Take your hand out of the bag. Very slowly." The woman was calm and took her hand out with a picture, saying "I work for the State Department. Human Resources. I know, it's boring… but it enabled me to raise a son."
Viktor let her go and she rubbed her neck, adding "I'm very proud of what he grew up to be." she held up a photo and threw it at Tony, saying "His name was Charlie Spencer. You murdered him. In Sokovia."
Viktor picked up the picture and started laughing. Tony was silent and the woman said "Is that funny?" Viktor scratched his cheek and smiled "Very funny. It's hilarious actually." Tony looked at Viktor and frowned "Vik…"
Viktor waved his hand and looked at the woman, asking "Can I ask you a question?" The woman was silent and Viktor chuckled, "Can you do better? Or rather, maybe the Avengers should've let Sokovia fall to the planet and make humanity extinct? They should've, right? Then you would've been with your son."
Viktor waved the picture and continued "Oh, wait. No, you have nothing to say, because you didn't even think about that, did you? No, you definitely didn't because that was your son, but very quickly, let me ask you…"
Viktor flipped the picture over and asked blankly "Who are you? Who is your son? Did he create the cure for cancer? Did he have superpowers? Was he a vigilante?" the woman frowned and said "No, but-"
Viktor cut her off and said in shock "No? He was even better? Was he a 6-wing seraphim? An angel from heaven sent to save humanity?" the woman said angrily "What are you saying!? Do you think this is a joke?! My son is dead!"
Viktor laughed in her face and retorted "So?" the woman's eyes widened and she repeated "So?!" Viktor nodded with a flat face, "Yeah. So? Who the fuck is your son? Nobody special. Who are you? A number in the world's population count. You don't matter, neither does your son. Between human extinction and her son's worthless life, the choice is obvious."
Viktor tossed the picture carelessly and continued "Honestly, I can't understand you people. How do you walk up to a savior of humanity and tell him right in his face that he is selfish and can't do anything right? Do you know what it takes to fight with your life on the line for other people? Not everyone can be saved, there are always sacrifices."
Viktor looked her in the eyes and said flatly "You couldn't protect your son, that's your fault. Nobody else's. Don't twist logic and guilt trip a hero for your retarded son's choices. Why was he in the shithole of the world at that time? Building houses for the less fortunate? Give me a break."
He waved his hand and looked disgusted, "Don't take yourself too seriously, okay? You didn't even know your son." as he tapped his phone and brought up security cam footage.
A black young man met someone in an alley and handed him a roll of bills for a bag full of some sort of pill. Viktor said in 'surprise', "Oh, a junkie. I heard Sokovian crack is the best high." Viktor continued rolling through footage and showed the young man selling the drugs on the street.
Viktor dug his ear and smiled "It's not fun without audio right?"
"Here, I got the goods."
"Just take this and you'll feel great."
"Sokovian Angel smoke has nothing on this new product."
"I'm going to test it on the refugees, see you later…"
Viktor clicked his tongue and said "How exciting." as he closed his phone, looking at the horrified woman with a sneer as he said "What a joke. You're a clown. You can't even raise your own kids and you want to actually lecture someone who saved the world on how they should operate. Maybe if you were Iron Man, there would be terrorists on the streets, right?"
Viktor spat on the ground and said "You honestly disgust me. Let's go, Tony." Tony followed him into the elevator, leaving the woman there. The door closed and Viktor snorted "What a mental woman! Can you believe it?"
Tony suddenly said "Maybe she's wrong, but a lot of people did die in Sokovia…" Viktor looked at him and frowned, "You can't be blaming yourself?" Tony said with a frown "But there's always deaths wherever we go…"
Viktor patted his shoulder and said "Tony. You have the power to save people, which means you are the one pulling the lever in the trolley problem. Do you kill one person to save 5, or do nothing and save 1 person. You did nothing wrong!"
Tony said "Very utilitarian of you." Viktor crossed his arms and replied "That's the correct decision. If there's a terrorist going to shoot a child who will create the cure to cancer or 5 worthless lowlifes, who would you choose to save?"
Tony rolled his eyes and asked "Is this an Ethics class? The answer is obvious." Viktor nodded and said "Exactly. You can choose because you're Iron Man. Forget that her son is a junkie. Even if he wasn't, she doesn't have the power to save him herself so she blamed someone else."
He shook his head and said "She blames you because you have power, understand? She calls you selfish but throwing her incompetence on you is completely unreasonable and selfish! Don't you have enough problems? Don't let a single woman make you forget that you are a hero."
He turned and looked at the door, adding "No matter what anyone says or does, blaming you for the casualties is just wrong. You're not a machine, Tony. You're flesh and blood, you make mistakes. The important thing is that you try your best."
Tony shut his mouth and stayed silent for a few moments before saying "I'm going to the Avengers building, want to come?" Viktor's eyes lit up and he said "Sure. I want you to meet someone."
