When the Guardian met the Queen

---ATLANTIS---

An early time, many years ago, when Atlantis still thrived.

"Take a close look at her young Alex, she is the one you will be protecting" Amour said to her young student. She stood upright again allowing Alexander to take a good look at her, he was a descent kid, Amour saw his eyes focused on the young girl playing in the park, clearly he was attemting to sum her up, memorise her, even thou that wont matter.

"When you see her again, she will be an adult, as will you" Amour said and Alex nodded at her.

"Now, do you have your most prized possession?" She asked him again.

He held up a sword, old, used, probably not even sharp anymore, and Amour recognized it, it belonged to Remus, his father, the first real sword given to him, as it was Remus' first sword handed to him by his father, and the fathers before. The first sword was indeed a very valuable posession, its an indication that Alex knows how to use a sword, and has been bubbed a man through it.

"Then let us go, you know what to say right?" She nudged him forward.

"I, i think so ma'am" he hesitantly said as he staggered away from her push.

She was chasing a buttefly when Alex came in close enough for her to notice him. She stopped and looked at him slightly confused, then ran to her father, the king. Alex obviously recognized him, and started sweating when the king himself approached, with her close behind. King Tehran stopped infront of Alex and folded his arms.

"So you aporoach my daughter with a sword in hand? You better have a good explanation young man!"

Alex realised how obviously stupid that was, he looked back at Amour, who just gestured with her chin to proceed on his own. Alex looked back at the king and swallowed.

"My king... this is my very first sword... my... my most prized possession..."

Tehran frowned at him "Yes... and?"

"I wish to... place it in her care, i will return for it"

"What should a girl her age need with a sword... and then its not even a decent one, its rusted, unseathed, and dull!"

Alex looked down at his fathers sword, yes it was dull, but he learned more from this sword, than he did at school, it taught him life lessons, how to defend, attack, protect, the dull in it was a hidden blessing, so many times Alex made a mistake, then this sword would not cut deep, somehow, Alex felt insulted by the king.

"This, is a great teacher my king, please don't nay say it, it has taught me to defend this place" Alex said and swallowed, he knew this was talking back to the king, but he couldn't allow anyone to talk about his fathers sword like that.

Tehran looked at Amour and smiled, then stepped away from his daughter, she was confused by this, but Tehran kneeled infront of her and explained.

"He, is your future guardian, it took him great courage to defend that rusty old sword, if he can defend that simple thing, he can defend anything"

She suddenly got a smile "Why didn't you say so Father"

Tehran looked at Alex "It was a test, young man, you may proceed" he said and stood back.

Alex never felt so relieved before, he looked down at her but she has approached in such a way that she stood too close for his own comfort. He tried his best not to back off, she took the tips of her dress, lifted it slightly and gave a very formal bow. Alex went silent with tension, she was very beautiful, and he didnt really meet girls like her before, yelling at himself in his head he forced himself to formaly bow back.

"What is your name?" She asked.

"Alexander Aegis Theodore... m... miss"

She giggled "Pleased to meet you, my name is Kaileenah Svalbard"

Alex took the Leather scubbard from his belt and held both it and the sword openly infront of her.

"Uh, this is my sword, i trained with it, to become a sword fighter, i, its what i value most in life"

She scanned the blade from hilt to tip, then nodded "It has seen many moons"

"I! Indeed it did, miss... and" Alex couldn't keep his composure "I wish for you, to, keep it"

She frowned "It seems you have difficulty parting with this sword?"

His face went red, how can she speak to him and stay so composed, is it because after all she is royalty, and he not? would she never find him as attractive as he found her? That had to be it... Alex realised, he was basically the one who would throw his body infront of a blade for her, and she knew it, why pay any more attention than needed, to someone who's sole purpose in life was to die in someone els' sake? He suddenly got his composure back together.

"No Miss, im sorry for my stuttering, truth be told i find you very attractive, that is why i struggled to speak, this sword on the other hand, has sentimental value to me, but the day has come that it cannot aid me in battle anymore, that is why i want you to keep it safe for me, it is a promise i make to you, and to this kingdom, that my roots lay here, and i will return to claim this sword back from you, and give it one day to my son, who will also be born here"

Her face slightly blushed, the commanding voice he had caught her of guard, for someone not much younger than her, he was alot more focused on the future duties than she was, Kaija felt envious of him. Alex took the sword and seethed it, then went to one knee, holding the sword up, bowing his head. Kaija took it from him.

"I, will keep it safe, and i promise to give it back to you" She said and turned, walking away.

Alex stood up and turned to the king and Amour, both smiled broadly.

"Well done young man" Tehran placed his hand on Alex's shoulder "you will make a fine knight one day" he said then left aswell.

"Commander Amour, teach him well, valiant men are hard to find, and its even more rare to see one at such an early age" he called back. Amour bowed to him behind his back.

"Yes my king"
