House of the Rising Sun

You know, I was fascinated with vampires when I was a kid. The thought of power and good looks made me want to be one. That is, until I actually became one. Suddenly Lestat’s musings of an eternity being lonely became too real. Waking up in a forest who would have thought I’d run into ‘that’ family. I’d strangle the one that sent me here if she hadn’t trapped me in a world full of bullshit magic, doppelgängers, and broody vampires. *Status: Complete* *Sequel Pending*

Escape

The Day of Klaus' Escape

Over a thousand years and never had Niklaus been defeated so soundly. Spending nearly a hundred years entombed by his own brother Finn. Darkness and vermin, his only companions. The time slowly crawled on forward until a bright light woke him from his slumber.

"Dahlia."

When his vision returned he was in a crowded little shack. Dahlia stood next to him, a younger version of the ancient witch stood before them. The younger Dahlia skinned and gutted a snake, another figure entered his view and his breath caught in his throat. The familiar locks of curly blonde hair. The heart shaped face and rosey lips that he had known as his mothers. She was there with them in the dream-like world.

"Why have you brought me here witch? Do you seek to invoke some sort of pity? I already sided with you once, and look where that has gotten me."

"This is the day, the day your mother chose that boorish man over me. The day that she broke my heart. The day that she abandoned my family."

"Do you seek to touch me with your words?"

"No, I wish to show you that I too know your pain."

"The pain of losing those you hold dear to someone undeserving."

"Help me one more time Niklaus, and together we shall destroy Seth Williamson and everything he holds dear."

"Why didn't you just say so, I would burn the world if it meant being free from Seth Williamson and getting my family back."

"Good, then we will need to make preparations."

"I am entombed in my family home, in the crypts below the main courtyard."

"I know, just leave your escape to me. Once we are done here you will awaken. Come seek me out, the covens are holding me in the Fauline Cottage. I will need your help in escaping. You will be free to do what you please to the others imprisoned here with me. I'm sure magical blood will replenish you much better than mortal blood."

"Shall we begin?"

Present Day

Canon was so fucked, but I knew that already. I was the one who decided to intervene and now things will all sorts of fucked up. Klaus was still working with Dahlia so that wasn't any different. At the very least Amelie was safe, Freya could take care of herself and Evelyn was much too far from Dahlia's reach to be affected.

I read through my business reports and smiled, I would never get used to looking at my financials. Before becoming a vampire I had pretty much been living paycheck to paycheck. Now I could blow off millions and not even scuff up my account. Not that I could take all the credit, most of it had been due to early investments. I sighed and set the reports down. The fact that Dahlia and Klaus had not made their move yet was eating me up. It had been nearly a week since I settled into Mystic falls. I was about to pour myself a drink when there was a knock on my door. I walked to the receiving area just as Yvette opened the door. Damon, Stefan, and Enzo walked in looking more like how I remembered them in the show.

"This place looks more like a palace everytime I visit."

I shake hands with the three men and exchange smiles with the brothers.

"Well what's the point of having all this money if I don't spoil myself a bit."

"Dude, this is more than 'spoiling yourself a bit' this is extravagant."

"I'll have to agree mate."

I shrug, "What can help you guys with? I don't take that this is just a social call. To say hello to an old friend is it?"

"Right, let's get to the chase then. Stefan here wants to enroll in the local high school."

I raise and eyebrow, "And why is that Stefan?"

"There's a girl,"

"I'm going to stop you right there. Let me guess, about yey tall, brown hair, olive skin, cute innocent eyes, and let's not forget looks exactly like Katherine Pierce?"

"Ye-"

"It's not her Stefan, I'd advise you stay away from that girl if you don't want to risk getting caught up in some sort of convoluted love triangle."

"That sounds oddly specific, what are you basing your theory on."

"Well myself for one, Freya is a splitting image of a lover I had a long time ago. Look where I am now, there are three women in my life."

"You're saying that's a bad thing?"

"Yeah you can't honestly believe that having three women who love you is a bad thing?"

"Stefan I'm not saying don't get to know her all I'm saying is going beyond friendship with her is going to lead to some sort of headache. Not to mention, it's a bit strange for you to go to school with her."

"That's what I said." I looked over to Damon who was nodding his head.

"I'll just get to know her, I'll watch her see if she displays any sort of odd behavior."

"Fine, don't do anything dumb. Also Klaus is bound to show up someday so keep your eyes open and tell me if you catch sight of him."

I poured everyone a drink and the three wandered around my gallery of paintings. Yvette came to tell me that lunch would be ready soon and that Freya was coming back from her outing to gather herbs. I offered the trio lunch but they had other business to attend to. Freya arrived moments after they had left. Kissing her in greeting at the door I ushered her in.

"Anything happen while I was out?"

"The Salvatores and Enzo came by asking about the doppelgänger."

"You weren't kidding when you said she was a vampire magnet."

"When do I ever kid around?"

"Do you really want me to answer that?"

"Not really no, lunch is ready by the way. I was just waiting for you."

We ate while Freya began telling me about the herbs she had collected. Apparently plants grew abundantly further up north. She had a wide variety of plants for her spells and concoctions stored up. She had been thankful for my small garden of various plants and had been confounded at the golden colored vervain. She cast a few spells on the plant and found out that it was twice as potent as normal vervain but that was all it had going for it. I told her how I had treated the soil while planting it and she sowed a few seeds using the same method.

Another week passed and the day of the Gilbert's car accident came around. I decided that I would intervene and save the two. I figured that in doing so I'd be killing two birds with one stone by preventing Elena from making bad choices and adding another line of defense to her.

That night I lay in waiting perched on the branch of a tree overlooking the bridge. Their car came speeding along into view and I watched with bated breath. The accident was something else to witness. It was as if there was outside interference as the car went from driving straight to making a sharp right turn in seconds. Using my power I froze the car before it could hit the water. Pushing it along I had it crash into the shore of the river instead of the water. There were collective screams inside and I blurred off back to my mansion. With the Gilbert's being alive I had one think to check off my list.

Freya looked up from her book when I came into my study.

"Mission accomplished?"

"I believe so, I had them crash into the shore instead of the water."

"One of these days Seth you're going to have to tell me how you know these things."

I planted a kiss on her head as I went to pour myself a drink.

"One day yes I will, I'm sorry I'm keeping you at arms length with this. I don't know how it could affect things should more people know."

"I know the value of secrecy, besides there's no other secrets between us."

"Well-"

"Seth? You better not be hiding anything from me."

I down my drink and attempt to blur out of the room only to crash into a barrier that Freya and put up. I fell on my back dazed and I looked over at her.

"How? Magic isn't supposed to affect me."

"Oh it still doesn't, I just spelled it so that your clothes can't leave the room."

"Wait you can do that?"

"Well yeah, I had to find a way around your resistance to magic somehow."

"That's so unfair."

"Seth you can move things with your mind."

"Magic is still pretty cool, I'd abuse the hell out of that fire spell."

"That's why you can't use it."

I grumbled at her before scooping her up into my arms. She yelped and threw her arms around my neck as I carried her towards the door.

"What say you lower this barrier so we can go back to the bedroom and I can show you just how useful my power can be."

The barrier was down in an instant, we disappeared back into our room for the rest of the evening.
