Chapter 51 On a month vacation

In the end, she decided not to inform him and walked to her room.

The following day, Tang Ning woke up and she sat up on the bed then burried her face in her hands. Yesterday was one of the worst days of her life, and she was glad that it finally ended. By the end of the day, Huan had woken up even though she was still lazy. Not to forget, Jing Yue had acted totally opposite of what she had expected and he ended up being the one comforting her. With every passing day, she realized how much of a man he was. But then, she realized that he hadn't bothered her again since the night of the party and she wondered if he had given up on her.

In the afternoon, Tang Ning and Juan were in Huan's room giving her company since she didn't have the energy to leave the bed. As she sat leaning her back against the headrest, Tang Ning was telling them stories as they munched on snacks.

A while later, she looked at Juan and asked," Has your father left?" He shook his head and said," He was working in the living room."

She nodded and she wondered if he was not going to the company today.

When she got done with story telling, Tang Ning remembered that she didn't have her phone with her and she excused herself to go and get it. On reaching the stairs, she heard voices in the living room and she slowed down her movements.

Tiptoeing to see who it was, she saw an elderly woman and man sitting opposite of Jing Yue. "You didn't tell me that you were coming. I would have told the maids to prepare something special," said Jing Yue. "It's alright. We are not planning on staying for long. Where are my grandkids?" she heard the woman ask and her eyes widened in surprise. They were Jing Yue's parents! No wonder they looked elegant even though they seemed to be around their late fifties. And she realized the resemblance between Jing Yue and the man, who was his father. "In their rooms," he replied before asking," Don't tell me that you're going back today?"

"We are actually leaving in a couple of minutes. We came to see the twins before we set off," said Ms Jing as she got up.

"Where are you going?" asked Jing Yue as he looked at his parents skeptically.

"On a month vacation," replied senior Jing as he too stood up, buttoning his coat.

"And where is that?" he asked. "We are going to Paris," mentioned Ms Jing.

"How come? You didn't ask for any funds from me." "You think we are kids or what?" she asked before adding," Let me go and see my grandkids."

Ms Jing walked to the direction of the stairs when Jing Yue said," Huan, is not feeling so well." She immediately turned to him and asked," What happened?"

"She got the attack again," he said. "What? Why didn't you tell me about it?"

"I didn't want to worry you but she's alright now. She just needs to rest," he said and she immediately took the stairs to her room.

Tang Ning who had gone back to sitting with the twins was already anticipating their grandparents to come to the room.

On hearing footsteps approaching outside, she saw the knob turn before the door was pushed open.

On seeing the woman get in, she immediately stood up and she saw the man following behind her.

"Grandma! Grandpa!" Juan exclaimed the moment he saw them and ran to them while Huan just smiled at them, for she didn't have the energy to leave the bed.

After parting away from the little one's embrace, Ms Jing quickly walked towards Huan who was sitting on the bed. "How are you feeling my love?" she asked the moment she reached her and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "I am fine Grandma. I missed you," she said. "You have no idea how I've missed you," she replied.

Tang Ning bowed her head at Mr Jing who was looking at her questioningly.

"You are?" he finally asked. "I am Tang Ning, their nanny," she said with a slight bow.

"Oh, it's nice meeting you," he said.

Ms Jing who had heard that she was the nanny looked at her and said," How did this happen? What triggered her illness?"

Tang Ning softly gulped at the question. What was she supposed to say? That it was her fault? She didn't want to make a bad impression at the first time yet she didn't want to lie to them.

Seeing the way the woman's eyes didn't leave her as if waiting for an answer, she swallowed and said," I...I am so sorry for failing to protect her as I should. It all started- "

"Tang Ning was nearly mugged while she was with Huan. Due to the fear, her illness got triggered," came Jing Yue to her rescue.

"Oh, that was horrible. Where did it happen?" asked Mr Jing. "Just a few blocks away from here," replied Jing Yue, which was true.

"I hope you weren't injured," inquired Ms Jing who was looking at Tang Ning.

She immediately shook her head and said," No Ma'am I'm fine."

"Let me hope you already have those criminals," said senior Jing. "I am working on it father," he replied. "Wasn't my granddaughter the target really?" asked Ms Jing.

"From the look of things, it was not the case," replied Jing Yue.

Seeing that the elders' attention was on the twins, Tang Ning decided to excuse herself and give the family some time for themselves.

On her way out, she glanced at Jing Yue who was already looking at her and she flashed him a grateful smile for coming to her aid.

Contrary to what they had planned, Jing Yue's parents spent more than two hours at the house since they had lunch with them and also, the twins had a lot to tell them.
