Class and Job System

Sam would have very much wanted to get rid of this feature once and for all and leave everybody groping in the dark trying to look for a more convenient path to take whilst leveling up.

Having a classless system would make everybody a newbie and only him having the knowledge of the best path to take.

If he did this, it would have been easier to get everyone working for him one way or the other, but the system did not allow him to do this.

The merger had caused the structure of the whole system to depend on this feature and there would be no growth without it.

He was ok with that, but the system seemed to have other thoughts.

Avalon Online had a very well-developed class system that covered a whole range of classes.

From classic RPG classes like adventurer, fighter/warrior, mage, ranger, thief, priest, and many simple classes, to hidden classes like seers, and prestige classes like paladin and Kings.

The whole game ran on class systems that had been thoroughly researched and constructed to support the whole game.

Even the royal family had an innate born class that would evolve according to qualifications and the king would be chosen through this system.

If the player managed to win the heart of a princess and marry into the family, they would also trigger a branch route to becoming king.

Even the demon king's side had such a path.

While Avalon Online was a hero-save-world kind of story, Arc Technologies had to consider the preferences of all players.

In the era where AIs had almost dominated all fields, this kind of entertainment was highly sought after. Humans just had too much free time, and such an avant-garde path was highly appreciated.

It was also the most expensive path. Rated R18, this path offered many adult services that could not be found in most games then.

That aside, without classes, many systems from Avalon Online would directly collapse. Something like the church was built on the priest class. The priest class could evolve further, and the Pope class would be the endpoint.

This class was so powerful that they were on the same level as the King. The King even had to give the Pope some respect because they commanded the hearts of many civilians in the Avalon Kingdom.

The other games did not have much dependence on class.

Some systems did not even have class systems and only worked with a job system.

King Avatar had the most advanced job system and a player's job could directly determine what position a player could play.

Some jobs had superb long-range capabilities but no close combat abilities at all.

Although King Avatar was highly based on fantasy, they had very little magic. Magic was mainly for healing and for buff and debuff spells. They had very limited combat applications.

And this was a feature that greatly made this game exclusive to elite players.

Magic was used to augment attacks making them stronger but there were very few attack spells and they were restricted to certain jobs and qualifications.

Most spells were control type and they required a very high-level mage for them to be of any use. A fighter of the same level could take 10 mages at the same level and come out with more than half his HP.

The job system of King Avatar thus encouraged the development of all classes except mages and priests. Though those who managed to level up enough were highly sought after.

Duty Call was the game with the simplest Job System.

This was a game solely focused on combat. If it did not have anything to do with fighting, it would not be found in this game.

There were only three job classes which were;

Long Range Combatant. This was mainly for snipers and those that took their time to learn ninjutsu.

The combat systems of Duty Call were very complete and even exaggerated. They included some insane abilities that had nothing to do with magic, but they were straight out of anime. Sam even had a strong feeling that the whole Ninjutsu combat set was from Naruto.

Close Range Combatant. This job class was very broad and it was the most detailed.

Although Duty Call was an FPS, it had these cool scenes where the bosses would choose to take each other head-on instead of using guns.

The packages that supported close-quarters combat were insane. The techniques were also deeply researched and analyzed to give the players a real experience.

Virtual reality technology was so developed that the players could feel a punch during combat. Obviously, the experience had to be awesome as well.

Apart from moves that required magic and such, one could find any kind of technique in the combat set packages.

The third job class was the Support Class.

Duty Call was a very advanced game with very mature military technology. There were teams behind the scene planning wars and assaults.

The command centers were also maps for play. Those that did not feel like joining the battlefield could join the NPCs in the back to play support.

Medics were also in this bracket.

Myriad Occupation was a job class game by itself.

The game was very well made and the flow of jobs was well-planned. This was the only game that allowed players to change job classes as though clothes.

The whole point of this game was to experience all sorts of occupations as realistically as possible. Coupled with the VR technology and AI assists, a noob could pretty much get the jist of any profession in a week.

It was even projected that this game was going to be introduced to learning institutions to help students figure out their future development paths.

The only thing that made the game difficult was the restrictions it had.

Stat points were very important in this game, and some professions even required the player to have a whole country under his command to unlock them.

But that was not a disadvantage here.
