Chapter 14: Colin Creevey (Edited)

After yesterday's sorting ceremony, Ivan became famous throughout Hogwarts, and almost every Hogwarts student knew who he was.

For the first year at least, Ivan had become a new celebrity, enjoying the same treatment as Harry, and being mobbed whenever people were around.

One of the most excited had to be his roommate, Colin Creevey, after breakfast, the boy who had run up to Ivan and invited him to join him in class, though Ivan suspected his main target was Harry.

Ivan looked at Colin trying to sneak pictures of Harry and said, "Colin, if you want, I can introduce you to Harry, you seem to admire him!"

Colin replied enthusiastically, "Yes please do Ivan, I know all about Harry Potter, everyone has told me how he survived the one that shall not be named, how the one that shall not be named disappeared and how he got his lightning bolt scar, can you ask him to show it to me?"

Ivan said with a headache, "It's not polite to ask about that, Colin! But I think he'll agree!"

Colin looked like he had received an early Christmas present and said, "That's great, you know, before I heard about it from Hogwarts, I never knew what I would do, my dad's a milkman, and he can't believe my brother and I are wizards, so I'm going to take a bunch of pictures and send them to him!"

Ivan looked at Colin and said, "Did you know that you just need to use the right developing potion to make the pictures move?"

When Colin heard Ivan's words, he quickly said, "Quick, tell me what to do."

After Colin finished talking about the pictures, Ivan invited him to be the photographer for The Magic of Hogwarts, Ivan worried that Colin would refuse, but he worried for nothing because Colin looked so happy that he looked like he was going to run around celebrating.

When they got to class, everyone was already seated.

Professor Flitwick was standing on a stack of books behind the desk as he held up the student list, so Ivan and Colin quietly walked in and sat down next to Ginny.

Gryffindor and Hufflepuff were together for the lesson, Professor Flitwick taught the students how to use a wand for about an hour.

Before it was time for the lesson to end, he asked everyone to take out their wands and practice some wand gestures.

These things were simple for Ivan, but seeing Colin and Ginny practicing seriously, he decided to pretend he was doing it too.

The next class was History of Magic, and being the only class taught by a ghost within the school, everyone at first had expectations of Professor Binns.

Many of the Gryffindors thought Professor Binns would be as entertaining as Nick Almost Beheaded, but they were soon disappointed. In class, Professor Binns spoke in a monotone voice while writing various names and dates that confused some of the students.

Ivan knew this was going to happen, and instead of taking notes, he pulled out a book on magic potions and read it, not worrying about getting caught as long as he didn't interrupt Professor Binns' class.

When Ivan arrived at the Great Dining Hall for lunch, he met Harry and the others at the door.

Ron looked sick as if he hadn't recovered from this morning's vociferous letter, while Harry and Hermione were whispering to each other, apparently talking about Hogwarts Magic.

Ivan came over to say hello and introduced Colin, who was beside himself, to Harry.

After getting to know each other, Colin begged Harry to take a picture with him, "Maybe I should stand next to you while Ivan takes the picture and then, can you sign it for me?"

Harry looked at Colin a little embarrassed and then looked at Ivan, but before Ivan could say anything, he heard someone sneering at him from afar.

Draco Malfoy came up behind Colin, flanked by his two big, fierce, deadly friends, Crabbe and Goyle, and said, "An autographed picture? Are you giving away autographed pictures, Potter?"

Draco shouted, "Form a line, everyone! Harry Potter is giving away autographed pictures!"

Harry clenched his fists angrily and said, "I'm not."

Ivan noticed that Ron and Hermione were getting nervous and getting ready to fight.

Ron yelled, "Shut up, Malfoy!"

Colin said in a high-pitched voice, "You're jealous!"

Malfoy narrowed his eyes as he looked at Colin and said, "Jealous?"

Malfoy didn't need to shout again, as everyone in the Great Dining Hall was listening, "Jealous of how ugly the scar is, no thanks, I don't think cutting off your head makes you special!"

After hearing Draco's words, Crabbe and Goyle started laughing.

Ron pulled out his wand, which had been fixed with magic tape and said angrily, "Go eat slugs, Malfoy!"

Hermione whispered, "Stop it, Ron!"

Once Crabbe and Goyle saw Ron's wand, they stopped laughing and started rubbing their knuckles viciously.

Malfoy said, "Be careful, Weasley!"

Then Malfoy said in a mocking tone, "You mustn't get in trouble again, or your mother will pull you out of school if you don't behave."

Malfoy mimicked Mrs. Weasley's voice, which caused a group of fifth year Slytherin students to burst out laughing.

Malfoy smiled triumphantly as he said, "Weasley wants a signed picture, Potter, it should be worth more than your house!"

Harry pulled out his wand angrily, Ivan thought about it for a moment and pulled out his wand as well. Next to them, the Gryffindor and Slytherin students pulled out their wands and for a moment the atmosphere became tense.

Gilderoy Lockhart, strutting toward them in a green robe, began to speak loudly, "What's going on, what's going on? who's signing pictures?"

Harry tried to open his mouth to explain, but Lockhart threw an arm around his shoulders and said in a loud, cheerful voice, "Excuse me, we meet again, Harry!"

Harry was pushed away by Lockhart, his face flushed with humiliation, and watched Malfoy proudly walk back into the crowd.

Lockhart looked at Colin and said, "Come on, Mr. Creevey, A double picture, couldn't be a better deal, we'll both sign it for you!"

Colin awkwardly held the camera as he took the picture.

Ivan quickly walked into the Great Dining Hall, there was no point in continuing to stand and embarrass Harry, Hermione and Ron followed him angrily, Ron kept bad mouthing Malfoy.

Harry was dragged away by Lockhart, and Ivan wondered what they were saying, and a few minutes later, Harry came back looking completely red in the face and sat down next to Ron.

Ivan looked at Harry's face and said in a mocking tone, "You can probably fry an egg on your face, mate!"

Ron said, "You better hope Creevey and Ginny don't meet, because if they do, they'll start a Harry Potter fan club!"

Fearing that someone would hear the phrase "Harry Potter fan club," Harry snapped, "Don't be ridiculous Ron!"
