Harland was shot by an "ignorant southern bastard." While it didn't initially kill him, the bullet would stuck in his body if not for Hadrian removing it.

Clint Locke would go on and marry Jenny Ironwood and become the father of Chamberlin Locke.He would go on to fight in the U.S. Civil War along with Harland Locke.After that he would become a ranger in Lovecraft, Massachusetts.

But Ulysses would do because of mugging gone wrong it was crushing for the two brother to hear about their older brother's death.

Clint looking at the head stone with writing "Our Beloved Brother".The fact he was gone was a major hit for the brothers as Clint spoke up"I tried to actually use the Mending cabinet and key to try bringing him back,but it didn't work."

Hadrian sighed and replied"You can't bring back people to life,it is the law of nature."

Hadrian turned to Clint and added"I know you want to bring back people close to you that has passed away,I can understand it better than you,since I have lost many people close to me and not day goes by that I don't think about them."

Harland and Clint teared up,they knew Hadrian's life was practically hell and those that cared for him where taken from him too soon.

This is when Harland had the idea of creating the Moon Key,but he never went forward with it until Clint's grandson Ian Ulysses would have health issues.Chamberlain Morse Walton Locke is the son of Clint Locke,he would marry Fiona Locke and father of John, Mary, Ian, and Jean Locke.

Chamberlain was not huge key maker like the rest of the family,but he did posses the ability to create them.He also knew Hadrian and they could be considered very close friends,but his son Ian's

was born at the beginning of the twentieth century. However, Ian had seizures at an increasing rate due to a tumor in his brain.

The continued seizures scared and made the Locke family fear for Ian,as Chamberlain called Hadrian and kneeled infront of him begging"Save my son,I will do anything you ask of me Hadrian.....please just save him."

Hadrian slowly helped Chamberlian up while saying"I will do my best."

Hadrian after doing the best diagnostic charms soon started preparing the potion to cure Ian.

I think I'm gonna be sick..."before

he runs into the bathroom with Fiona right behind him,they were promised nothing would happened and both Chamberlin and Fiona trusted Hadrian.

Ian who came out was now actually didn't look that weak and he had much better color as Hadrian told them"Give him the potion every night till the end of the week."Which would fully cure Ian,who would become a healthy boy again.

This is when Harland created the Moon key,because he felt he had done everything in life and wants to pass to the afterlife without much pain and meet his wife and brothers.

This key allows the user to open the moon, as though the moon itself was a door. One can pass into the door taking them to a "backstage" of the world, referred to as "Chamberlin's Moon", and allows the user to pass into the afterlife gently.This afterlife is connected with other realms and celestial bodies accessible to the user

In 1912, Harland would decide to leave the Earthly plane of existence with Moon Key.
