Chapter 29: Paradise

Angel's POV:

I laid in bed, watching TV. I was watching SpongeBob when Lucky walked in. "Hey. How you feeling?" He asked, as he sat down. He was still a little wet from his shower. "These cinnamon toast sticks are not the same when they're in squares." I said. "You and Marcus..." he muttered. I smiled. We watched SpongeBob til I felt a kick. A strong one. No. No. Relax. It's just a strong kick from the baby. I sighed. The kick caused Lucky to look at me. "You okay?" He asked, scanning me. "I'm fine." I said. Then I felt another kick. Dude. Relax. "Angel." Lucky said. "I just gotta pee Lucky, calm down." I said, standing up. I walked to the bathroom and did my business. I washed my hands and came back out.

"You sure your okay?" He asked. "I'm positive baby." I said, smiling. "You'd tell me if it's time right?" He asked. I nodded. "Yes Lucky." I said. We watched TV til I fell asleep. I was awoken by someone laying me down. I jerked forward to see Lucky. "Sorry. I'm as trying not to wake you." He said. I looked around and saw we were in our bedroom. I sighed. "What's wrong?" He asked. "Nothing. I guess I'm still tired." I said. "Well go back to sleep." He said. He turned around and left. "Wait where you going?" I asked. "I'm going to see Marcus. He wanted me to help him set up a baby crib." He said. I chuckled. "Keisha's only twelve weeks." I said. "He said he wanted to get a jump on it." He said. I laughed. I watched as Lucky put his shoes and leave. It was about midnight when I woke up to a strong kick.

I held my stomach. Okay that one hurt a lot. I then felt another one. I got up and reached for my phone. Calm down Angel. It's only a few kicks. These aren't just kicks. These are powerful kicks. I then threw up a lot. Then it stopped. See? Calm down. You just need to rest. I was resting til I felt a series of kicks. I climbed back in bed and watched TV. I looked around and realized Lucky still wasn't home. I got up and looked around the house for him. Still no sign of him. I called him. He picked up. "Hey babygirl. How you feeling?" He asked. I sighed. "Tired." I said. "Did you just wake up? You sound really tired." He said. "I woke up to strong kicks but I'm good now." I said. "Angel." He said. "Relax. I thought the same thing but false alarm." I said.

"Please let me know if it's that time." He said. "I will baby. Now tell me where you are." I said. "I'm at Marcus's still. Keisha threw up a lot and he was worried about her so I came back over. I came home and you were still sleep. Then he called again and now I'm here." He said. I nodded. "Okay. Well I was just wondering." I said. Then my phone hung up. I looked at it. My battery was low. 2%? Didn't you charge it before you went to sleep? I thought I did. I put my phone on the charger. I walked towards the stairs before I collapsed to the floor. My legs felt numb. I groaned in pain. I crawled to the door and transformed. I flew to town and all the way to the hospital. I looked around. I walked in and went up to the receptionist. She looked at me. "Oh my God ma'am. Are you okay?" She asked.

I shook my head. "No. My stomach. It hurts." I said, barely getting my words out. She helped me up and called for doctors to come get me. They ran and carried me to a gurney. They wheeled me away to a room. The pain in my stomach grew. It was stinging. Oh Lucky. I cried out in pain as the nurses and doctors scrambled to figure out what was wrong with me. An hour later, I've calmed down and relaxed. "Doctor what's happened to me?" I asked, curiously. "It seems the baby was in a compromising position inside you. But it fixed itself." He said. He looked at me. "Ms. Starlight, you sure you don't wanna know the gender of your baby?" He asked. I nodded. "I wanna be surprised." I said. He nodded and left.

As I laid in the hospital, I thought about my life. My mom and dad being addicts, cleaning themselves up, my brother and sister being somehow wild yet tamed, Lucky coming into my life, his psycho ex girlfriend, me becoming a UniHybrid, my pregnancy, my miscarriage, and another pregnancy. It's all too crazy. But I'm strong. I heard the door open. I looked at it and to my horror, there stood Elizabeth. She smiled at me. My heart rate increased. "Hey There Angel." She said, as she stalked towards me. I sat up. "Oh. I hope you didn't think you was getting away from me again." She said. "Elizabeth stop." I said. She tilted her head. "Oh Angel. I don't listen to bitches who take what's not theirs." She said. "Lucky is not yours. He's mine!!!" I said. She lunged for me but I kicked her, knocking her against the wall.

She looked up at me and growled. I stared at her. She used her powers to paralyze me but it didn't last long. She pulled out a needle and injected it I to my tube. I felt pain in my arms. "Hopefully this poison reaches the baby." She said. I punched her, sending her flying across the room. I stood up only to be caught by someone. "Hello Angel." Said a voice. "Principal Goreman, let me go." I said. "I've missed you so much back at school. I couldn't stay away darling." He said. A tear escaped my eye. He wiped it away. "Oh don't cry. Not yet." He said. He moved his hand down my hospital gown but I lit myself on fire. He cried out in pain. I pushed him into the equipment. I heard Elizabeth growl.

She lunged for me and tackled me to the ground. I kicked them both to keep them away. I used my powers as much as I could. "Give it up Angel. Lucky. Is. Mine." Elizabeth said. Then we heard something spill. They both looked down. So did I. Oh no. Not now. I felt a sharp pain in my stomach. "Oh. Baby time. Whatever it is will see their mother die." Elizabeth said. I remembered what Meghan said. A magical being's powers are at its weakest when giving birth because the mother's body is working overtime to keep the baby healthy. I threw a spell at Elizabeth and Principal Goreman to keep them knocked out. Unfortunately it was only for a few minutes. I felt another pain and clutched my stomach.

I ran out the room, down the hall and to a counter. I grabbed a paper and pen and began writing something down. I told Lucky to meet me at Light Lake at our cave. I couldn't risk my baby getting hurt by Elizabeth or Goreman. I ripped the paper out and ran. "Angel!!!" Elizabeth bellowed. I turned around to see her and Goreman stumbling over to me. I pressed a button the elevator but Goreman used his powers to make it malfunction. I quickly ran to a window and jumped through it. I transformed into a dragon and flew around. Another sharp pain hit me hard, causing me to drop down to the ground. I managed to catch myself but found myself flying through traffic. I nearly got hit by a car. I flew back up high. I flew til I was at Light Lake. I could feel the poison rushing through my body, in my blood.

My baby kicked with everything in them. I let out a scream. The poison, the pain, the baby, it was too much. I had to get them out. Thunderstorms and tornadoes appeared. I had to keep Elizabeth away. I crawled to the cave. Then I heard a laugh. "You think you can escape me Angel?!" Elizabeth cried. Oh no. Go Angel. You can do this. I can't Lisa. Yes you can. Now go!!! For our baby. You gotta cut them out. I crawled faster but Elizabeth caught up to me. She kicked me in my head. I yelled out in pain. She grabbed my body and dragged it and threw me into the lake. I hit the water hard. The baby kicked again. No!!! Not like this!!! I surfaced only to have Elizabeth over me. Goreman was behind her. He pulled me out of the water and dragged me back to the cave. I kicked his balls and stood up.

I ran to the cave as quickly as I could. Elizabeth ran after me. I felt another sharp pain. I cried out in pain. Thunder and lightning sounded overhead. Lightning bolts rained down on us, trapping Elizabeth with me. "That baby...will...DIE!!!" Elizabeth shouted. "No...it won't!!!" I cried out. We fought each other til I had a lightning bolt strike her. She was knocked unconscious. I gasped. I walked back to the cave and went inside. I lit myself on fire and went deeper. I looked at the wall of the cave. I punched it and pulled out a sharp stone. I made it into a point. I stabbed my self in the stomach but not too deep. I bit down on my gown to not scream. I cut a hole in myself and pulled out my baby.

It cried loudly. I looked down at it. Congratulations mama. It's a girl. I smiled. I pulled out my note and looked at the name I gave the baby. "Angel!!!" Elizabeth cried. I looked at my baby and set her down on the ground. The poison was nearly done with me. I got up, drenched with blood, and made my way to the mouth of the cave. I saw Elizabeth, who saw I was no longer pregnant. She screamed and ran towards me. I fought her before dragging her towards the water. I stayed under til she drowned I resurfaced to see her uncle. Elizabeth's body floated to the surface. "El-Elizabeth...." Goreman said. I looked up at him. He yelled at me. I still had my pointy stone in my hand. He ran towards me and I threw it at his head.

He collapsed with it in his head. It's finally done. I drjed off and fell to the ground but I didn't want my life to be over. I crawled back to my babygirl, who was crying loudly. I picked her up and started to carry her but my injuries were too much. I put her on my chest and rocked her to sleep. I didn't know I how long I had, but I made them count. I looked down at what I had down. I cut my baby out of me, I killed Elizabeth and Principal Goreman. I picked myself up with little strength I had left. I dragged Elizabeth's body into the water. I held it there for a few minutes until I was sure she was really dead. I did the same to Goreman's. I left them floating in the water. I suddenly seen light ahead of me. I looked up but was blinded by how bright it was. Then it was completely white. I looked around. Where am I? It looked like I was in a white lobby. It had two doors on opposite sides of the room. One labeled Heaven, the other labeled Hell. "Oh hello." Someone said. I saw an old Chinese man approach me.

"Hello." I said. He shook my hand. "Excuse me sir but where am I?" I asked, curiously. He chuckled. "Sorry to tell you but on your deathbed my lady." He said, as he took a seat. "I'm dead?" I asked, curiously. "No ma'am. Not yet." He said. "Yet?" I repeated. He nodded. "Sir, how-" he cut me off. "Angel, your dying from the poison, your injures. Sorry to say this, but your dying." He said. He looked up at something. I followed his gaze. It was a big screen TVs. "What's that?" I asked, curiously. "It's a review of your life. Everything you've ever done, everything you've ever seen, said, thought, did, dreamt." He said. "So my life is literally flashing before my eyes." I said . He nodded. "Yes ma'am." He said. "So what's up with the doors?" I asked. He looked at me. "Doors?" He asked. "Yes sir. These two doors, Heaven and Hell." I said.

"I'll tell ya later. Right now, just enjoy your life while you still have a breath." He said. I looked around and sat down on a bench. I looked around. It appears I was in a lobby of some sort. I saw my life from the time I came out the womb, to me dying. I saw Lucky and Kacey run up to me, screaming my name. Keisha, Marcus, Trey, Meghan, and my parents. The Magic Council too. They all were screaming for me to wake up. But I couldn't. "Meghan do something!!!" Mama said. "What can I do?" She cried. "Can't you use a spell to help Angel? Make her wake up or something!?" Lucky cried. "No!! That's Forbidden." She said. "I don't care about that!!" Lucky shouted. "She's right Lucky. It's forbidden to bring back the dead. They don't come back right." Alma said.

"No no no no no Angel. Don't do this. Don't do this babygirl. Don't do this to me." Lucky said, as he held my body. He began to cry. My babygirl whined. Marcus picked her up. "Yo Lucky, the baby...it's a girl." He said. Lucky didn't look at him. "Angel. She's still breathing." He said. "Well let's get her back to the hospital." Kacey said. Dad picked me up and carried me back to the hospital. They all ran inside, carrying me. "Help help!!! Someone please help us!!!" Keisha cried out. I watched as doctors and nurses scrambled to get me and my baby. She was still crying. Hours passed before the doctors came out. They all stood up. "How is my babygirl?" Mama asked. He shook his head. "I'm sorry. We can't save her." He said. Mama cried out, as she fell to the ground. Lucky punched the wall and threw a chair.

"There's gotta be something you can do!!!" He cried out. The doctor shook his head. "I'm afraid Angel's injuries are too severe. Plus, she was injected with a poison of some sort." He said. "What about the baby?" Kacey asked. "The baby is gonna make it." He said. I sighed in relief. Thank you Jesus. "Can we see Angel?" Keisha asked. The doctor nodded. He took them to a room on the third floor. They entered the room with my dying body inside. I was hooked up to tubes and needles. "Angel, please come back to me. I swear I'll never do you wrong ever again baby. I'm so sorry. I'm sorry about everything. If you come out of this, I swear I'll do right. I'll love you every single day. We'll leave. We'll leave and go somewhere with the baby. Just us. Just please come back to me." Lucky whispered.

Tears escaped my eyes. "Angel please baby." Mama said. She cupped my face. My Dad kissed my forehead. "Angel please." He said. My mama began to pray for me. They all did. It broke my heart to see all of them caring for me, wishing me alive. "Angel?" The old man called. I turned to him. "Yes?" I said. He made his way over to me. "About these doors...they lead you to where your gonna go." He said. I looked at both doors that were on the opposite of the room. "They're gonna lead me to my next life?" I asked. He nodded. "Yes ma'am. Whichever door opens first, that's where you're headed." He said, as he walked over to his desk. I nodded. I accepted my fate. I didn't exactly lead a pure life but I tried to live a good one.

I didn't exactly live a bad life though I have my moments of being bitchy. I lived....a life. Everyone does. It's in our nature as human beings to live the life we're given to the best of our ability. We choose our paths, it's not created. Whatever road we go down, it's on our terms. It's part of God's plan. He leads us on the path of life and what we chose to do it with is our decision. In the end, God decides where we go to next. In this life or the next. I looked back at the TV screen. The doctor walked in. He looked at everyone. "I'm so sorry. It's never easy losing a loved one." He said. I looked at my body. I shook my head. I felt a little bit of me left. I whispered my final words. "Lord, I'm ready." I said, with my real body. Everyone looked at me. Then the heart monitor flatlined. "NOOOO!!!" Lucky cried. Mama cried harder. Kacey screamed for me. Everyone lost it.

I sighed. That's that then. "Angel?" The old man called. I looked at him. He motioned me over. I walked over to his desk and took a piece of paper. Then I heard a door open. I closed my eyes and slowly turned around. "Angel?" Said a voice. I slowly opened my eyes and saw the Heaven door open. I dropped to the ground and began crying. An angel walled over to me. "I know it's hard." She said. "It's not that." I said. I chuckled and smiled. "Thank you Jesus." I said. The Angel helped me over. I felt something slightly heavy on my back. I turned around to see I had wings. Angel wings. "Congratulations Angel. Your an angel." The angel said. We walked through the door, into paradise.
