"Ugh!"

"He is up!"

I heard a foreign voice as I slowly opened my eyes, the brightness piercing my eyes, it took me a moment to get adjusted to the brightness.

The first thing I noticed was two men, one looked young while the other looked like a grown-ass man with a Japanese heritage looking at me.

"So you have finally woken up, Are you feeling any pain," asked the Young man who was wearing clothes that I recogni

zed right away.

"You are Mr.Magician!"

"That I am, though I have to say, I want a new hero name, the previous one isn't good enough,"

"Anyways, you got pretty roughed up by the curse, are you feeling fine?" Asked the young man who was known to me as Magician before.

Our resident NY hero,

"Uh- I remember being chased by a weird ass monster and then- Where's Ewi!"

"Relax! She is sitting on your shoulder, I have to say, you are rather lucky to be alive, my name's Tom by the way, and he is Nanami Kento," Magician, now known to me as Tom spoke as he introduced himself and his accomplice.

I gently shook the owl on my shoulder, it was Ewi in all her glory, I feel relaxed knowing she didn't fly away and leave me all alone.

"Thanks for saving me," I thanked the two, I never imagined I would someday be saved by two heroes, one of them being Tom and the other being Kento, who is also becoming famous after his debut in Tony Stark's Expo incident.

"Don't mention it, If it hadn't been for your own ability to resist until I met you, I wouldn't have been able to save you," Tom spoke handing me a cup filled with Tea.

I drank the tea to calm my nerves, it was surprisingly good, I took a moment to look around the place, it seems the heroes are rather well off.

Wait! What does he mean by my ability, Yeah! I remember now, I was able to use some pretty insane stuff and even fly.

"Well, it's not exactly your own ability but that of Ewi, your so called pet, but it's bonded with you so we can say that," Tom continued.

"Ewi has abilities!" I was shocked.

I turned my head to look back at the birdie nesting on my shoulders.

"Yes, it's a curse, just like the monster you faced, not to worry though as this one's friendly, be sure not to make any sacrificing promises to it though, haha,"

Tom warned, most of the things he said went right over my head though.

"This is no laughing matter, if it goes on like this, he might get attacked again," Mr.Nanami spoke in a stern manner but Tom did not pay him any mind.

"Haha! It's alright, we can just teach him," he spoke.

Hearing his words I couldn't help but feel a bit of excitement, was I about to become a hero?

"Yes! Please teach me," I spoke without hesitation.

"See, he already agreed without me even speaking," Tom spoke with a smug look.

Mr.Nanami went ahead and hit him on the head,

"He is just a kid who is still wet behind his ears, he won't survive a day in our world, Kid! Be sensible and walk away,"

Mr.Nanami spoke to me in a serious tone as he kept Tom's mouth shut.

"Kid! We have to fight those monsters every day without life, and someone like you who has no ambition will fade away and die,"

What the HELL! Who does he think he is? Ambition?

"The choice is still with you, don't come crying to us after you die," he spoke his final words before getting up and walking away.

"Haha! Don't mind him, it's not that hard fighting grade three curses, you will be in shape in no time, though I have to warn you, there are a few rules that you can't break, or else…" Tom who had been kept silent all this time spoke to me.

I guess he is a nice person as compared to that man, my life has already been going downhill, and I don't have any connections anyway.

All my life I have experienced bad luck, I only want to be someone that doesn't have to go through all that again, I have already understood that it's not possible to run away from my responsibilities.

In that case

"Please teach me! I want to become strong, so strong that no one dares to mess with me," I yelled out as I clasped my hands in front of me in a begging manner.

Tom PoV:

Well that was easy, and since this kid has an ambition to become strong, I just need to test his resolve, wonder if he has the guts to not puke when he sees what the curses are capable of
