Chapter 4 - Soul-Beast

The teenage girl walked alongside the middle-aged man and spoke excitedly,

"Uncle Liu, what Soul-Beast will I get?

Uncle Liu had a warm smile on his face as he answered the teenage girl, in the bush, Ye Feng was surprised that he was able to understand what they were saying, the language was similar to the one used by the Furbun's yet it had a hint of similarity to languages fro Earth,

"Xue'er, the Soul-Beast you'll contract depends on what we can find in the Hong Star Forest. If we can't find any suitable beasts, we'll search in other places or your father will just buy one for y-.. Wait, someone's watching us"

He looked extremely serious and stopped walking while signaling the teenage

girl to stop speaking and stop moving, nothing happened to the naked eyes but Ye Feng felt that something was weird when he used his Mental Power when he tried to coat the middle-aged man, he noticed that a sort of translucent aura rendered him unable to do anything as it worked as some sort of protection.

Ye Feng noticed the middle-aged man looking at the bush he was hiding in and quickly started hopping in the opposite direction, yet, he was caught, he noticed the cold stare of the middle-aged man and shivered in fear and thought 'I shouldn't have come there!', he felt like punching himself for being so dumb.

Ye Feng was surprised to notice that the middle-aged man didn't kill him or even hurt him, he just gently put him down, Ye Feng quickly hopped back to the underground village but he suddenly thought of something and jumped into a bush and waited...

Sure enough, they were following him, he didn't know why they were following him but they probably wanted to see the location of the underground village... It should be related to the Soul-Beast they spoke of but they might also be wanting to completely kill everyone in the underground village, Ye Feng thought, he might be exaggerating things but he knew that even though it was a small chance, it could still happen.

Ye Feng started hopping in random directions in the hope of losing them, yet, in the end, they'd always find him so he just stayed with them, he didn't go back to the underground village, the middle-aged man and the teenage girl were surprised that the little Furbun decided to stay with them.

Since it wanted to stay with them, they could allow it, they thought, the teenage girl picked up Ye Feng and hugged it, she spoke to the middle-aged man,

"Uncle Liu, can I have it as my Soul-Beast?"

Looking at the puppy eyes of the teenage girl, the middle-aged man reluctantly shook his head,

"No, although Furbuns is a species with every of its member having mental power, very few of them can actually cultivate and it doesn't seem that this one can so it'll compromise your future."

"Then... Can I keep it as my pet?"

The Middle-aged man didn't see any troubles with it and nodded, yet, Ye Feng started struggling to escape the teenage girl's grasp, he didn't want to be someone's pet, he might be confined in the house for days and be unable to collect enough luck, he also wanted to remain free.

Yet, the teenage girl's grasp was too strong, he couldn't escape it even with all of his strength, she didn't even seem to notice that he was trying to leave her grasp. Occasionally, she'd speak to Ye Feng she'd say things related to her, due to this Ye Feng knew her name, how strong she was, and the name and the strength of the middle-aged man.

The teenage girl was called Chu Yixue and she reached the realm of an Advanced Quasi-Warrior, which was the stage right before Warrior, to breakthrough from this stage, one needed to obtain a Soul-Beast which would cultivate with the one it contracted, if one got a Soul-Beast that couldn't cultivate... Well, they would be stuck at 1 Star Warrior.

The middle-aged man was called Liu Huichen and he had reached the realm of 4-Star Knight, the Knight Realm was right after the Warrior Realm, a Knight wasn't just immensely stronger than a Warrior, from the moment you reached 1-Star Knight, you'd be able to harness the power of elements and learn Elemental Arts.

The group was currently heading to the inner area of the Hong Star Forest, the deeper one went into the forest, the stronger the beasts one could find, one of the many reasons for that is due to the natural Qi having a deeper density as one reached the core of the Forest, as for what was in the core, even Chu Yixue didn't know, she only had some hearsay about there being a natural mine of Qi Stone but it was only an urban legend, after all, nobody went too far into the Hong Star Forest since there was a barrier barring entry from humans, nobody was really sure why it existed but one thing for sure, it was nigh impossible to go through the barrier.

A few hours later, they had finally reached the inner area of the forest, the distance they crossed made Ye Feng truly wonder how big was that forest since it took them so long to reach the inner area, he was also surprised during that travel that he hadn't seen any beasts causing trouble by attacking the small group.

Maybe Liu Huichen's cultivation scared off any beasts that had the thought of attacking them and since he had no cultivation, he couldn't feel any pressure? Ye Feng thought, needless to say, he was shocked when the moment they stepped in the inner area and was immediately greeted by a beast attacking them.

Chu Yixue stopped moving and looked at Liu Huichen who just nodded and advanced toward the 3-meter tall blue wolf, Ye Feng stared intensely, wanting to see a fight between a beast that should be around Late Warrior to Early Knight and an intermediate Knight.

The Blue Wolf roared at the approaching Liu Huichen and a row of icicles appeared above Liu Huichen, directly surrounding him, the icicles didn't move at all neither did Liu Huichen, he only stared at the Blue Wolf when suddenly, a blue flame appeared on his hand, he waved his hand above him and turned the icicles into water.

When he saw that his technique worked, he was now entirely confident, he started walking in direction of the Blue Wolf again, the Blue Wolf noticed how its attack was useless and started howling, Chu Yixue and Ye Feng both had to cover their ears and even Liu Huichen was taken off-guard by the sound, for a split-second, the blue flame wavered, this didn't escape the blue wolf's eyes.

Icicles appeared above Liu Huichen and directly fell on him, he waved his hand and burned them down yet new icicles appeared and the moment he burned them down, new ones would appear, Liu Huichen frowned, he looked down and noticed that the water from the icicles would seemingly disappear the moment a new row of icicle appeared...

Noticing this, he directly increased the intensity of the blue flame and even summoned a new flame on his other hand, one pointing at the sky, the other pointing at the ground, he'd burn the icicle down and even directly evaporate the water preventing new icicles from appearing.

What he didn't expect was that the moment he did, the blue wolf would suddenly rush at him and try to bite him, yet, Liu Huichen only smiled at this, what he lacked was range, and now, the blue wolf rushed at him, he stopped using his hands to protect himself and joined them together, the 2 flames combined and turned into a pure white flame.

The Blue Wolf instantly tried to retreat when it saw this yet it couldn't control its body and directly rushed on the white flame, the white flame started burning its body as it howled, the blood that came out of his body being used as ingredients for his icicles.

Yet now, it seemed that they had their own intelligence as they aimed directly at Chu Yixue and Ye Feng, Liu Huichen's brows furrowed and increased even more the intensity of his flame, sweat was already appearing on his forehead, noticing the bloody icicle approaching the 2 slowly, he retracted his 2 hands and retracted his flame.

He joined his palms and black flame appeared on them, he then used his palm to attack the blue wolf, palm marks appeared all over the blue wolf's body as its fur became charred and it gradually lost its energy, slowly, it fell to the ground, as for the blood icicle, it had already reached Chu Yixue and Ye Feng but they weren't hurt, not because Liu Huichen had killed the blue wolf before it reached them but because a white ball suddenly appeared around them blocking the blood icicle and protecting them.
