Iyare woke up the next day feeling very excited. She concluded that the news about Charles should have been released and ultimately destroyed his reputation. So the first thing she did, was to check out people's reactions online. To her surprise, there was nothing.
'What is going on,' she asked herself. Could it be that Charles suppressed the news? Or worst, he is destroying evidence to set himself free and close the case without getting harm from it.
Ah! Realisation dawned on her. She has no evidence of Charles killing her father. She needed to find out what was happening. She immediately called Peter's number and asked him to meet her in thirty minutes.
She rushed into the bathroom after ending the call. She took her bath quickly and hurried downstairs after dressing up. She hopes she can find Justin before any harm comes to him.
When she got to the dining room, Peter was already waiting. Josephine and Merry were also standing there waiting for her.
Iyare signalled Peter to sit down while she asked the maid to excuse them.
"I want you to find Justin, Cece's brother, as soon as possible and keep him safe," Iyare told Peter when they were alone.
"I will get to it," Peter said, getting up.
"You are not going to ask why we are looking for him?" Iyare was surprised by his attitude
"I already guess it should be because of the information in his possession. Charles may try to get rid of him after he finds a way to buy the police over. Besides, it has been over 12 hours since the discovery of the new evidence, but the police are yet to release a statement or arrest him," Peter replied.
Nobody knew Charles was arrested yesterday because of the senator arrangement, so Iyare and Peter thought he was still a free man.
"My guess is as good as yours. Justin is a living witness to the truth, so he may hurt him," Peter add after a short pause
Iyare nodded her head in agreement. She must confess she was satisfied with having capable people work for her. Her father must have employed only people with good IQ, but his loyalty taste is zero, anyway; in a world where money and connections rule, betrayal should be part of the norms.
"Also, check what's going on in that police station, "Iyare instructed him. Peter nodded his head before he left the dining room.
Josephine and Merry returned to serve her food after Peter left.
" Are you married?" Iyare asked Merry just before she started eating her meal.
"Yes, but my husband is late," Merry answered honestly.
"Oh, sorry about your loss," Iyare commented before she started eating. After eating a few spoons, Iyare turned to look at Merry again.
"Do you have kids?" She asked.
"Yes, MA, three of them," Merry replied; she felt anxious by her boss's interest in her personal life, but she tried her best to hide it.
"That's very good. I hope you do a good job taking care of this house. Don't even think of betraying me. Unless you are willing to bury your kids one after the other," Iyare threatened with a smile.
Iyare was smiling like she did not just threaten someone. Anyone watching the scene from afar may even think that she was having a friendly conversation with Merry.
Merry felt her heart missed a beat when she heard Iyare's threat. She had seen Iyare angry before, and she knew that Iyare was not joking about having her children killed if she betrayed her. Merry quietly swallows the lop on her throat.
The atmosphere became tense. Merry was finding it hard to breathe out. She was scared of irritating the woman sitting opposite her.
Josephine, on the other hand, pretends not to hear anything. She concentrated on tasting the food.
While Iyare had a peaceful breakfast, everyone in the finance department was in an uproar. The IT unit was trying to save some of the essential documents. They could not understand how their security system got breached without them detecting it on time.
The head of the finance group was feeling very pressured. He knew that the information they were losing might cause them a lot of money. They were already losing money because of the standstill situation.
He kept asking himself how it happened. He had worked for a total of ten years in the company, and a thing like this never happened.
The IT unit was very competent, so he could not understand why it was hard to resolve the issue.
Many in the department arrived at 5 am that morning to resolve the issue.
After having her breakfast, Iyare left the house in the company of Abel and Andrew. Shelley will be waiting for her at the office.
Shelley welcome Iyare once she got to the office. She was about to tell Iyare about her schedule when a knock was heard at the door.
"Come in," Iyare answered and adjusted herself properly to receive her guest.
"Good morning, ma," the two gentlemen who just walked in respectfully greet Iyare.
Iyare nods in response. And gesture for them to take their seat.
"My name is Dave Ford. I am the head of the finance department, and he is Fred from the ICT unit," Dave introduced.
Iyare nodded her head in response, now that she thought about it. She should have a meeting with the staff in other to know the key persons in the organisation.
"How may I help you?" Iyare asked, seeing that the two men just stared at her.
Fred immediately turned his attention to the laptop he was holding in his hands. He placed it on her table and informed Iyare of their present situation.
"Let me see that," Iyare said, taking the laptop from Fred. Iyare's hand immediately moved across the system very fast. Who would have thought that she would use this skill someday?
Back in college, one of Iyare's roommates was a hacker. The girl was superb with it. She and Iyare became friends because they were both different. At the same time, Iyare was seen as fat and ugly. Her friend Amina was a weirdo. The girl was always on her computer screen, typing code and all.
She was anti-social and will spend all her time eating and hacking or programming. This situation was what made the two girls become friends.
When Amina first suggested teaching Iyare, she thought she would not be able to learn that fast, but for an unknown reason, Iyare picked up very fast.
Soon Amina introduced, Iyare to the secret job she did to get money. A lot of these jobs were not legal, so Iyare was scared of joining her. But she still helps her out from time to time.
Everyone in the office's jaw dropped open when they saw the fast movement of Iyare's hands. Nobody had guessed she would be good with computers. They were not sure she would be able to solve the problem, but they were already felt impressed just watching the movement of her hands.
Iyare, on the other hand, was not confident as well. She just wanted to check out what the problem could be since Amina had taught her a lot of things already.
