"You will die in this lifetime, and only two things can cause your death. One, you grow old, so you die like an average human or..." Louis deliberately paused to ensure he had her undivided attention since she was having her complex emotions again, which made it impossible to read her."
"Or..?" Iyare asked him to continue.
"Or you missed your monthly sacrifice," Louis answered, seeing that he got her attention back. Iyare breathed a sigh of relief that she may as well miss the sacrifice. She was unwilling to get involved with so many illegal deals.
Louis, who sensed her thoughts, smiled mischievously. "Iyare, don't forget I told you once you accepted the deal, there is no going back," Louis smirked.
"Yes, but you also told me I would die if I don't make the sacrifice," Iyare refuted.
"Yes, you would die and reincarnate back to this world. I will ensure to put you in families where you are hated. Of course, this time, you will possess the body of another. So in a way, you will be making that sacrifice. You will always die a painful death in those lifetimes I will give you.
Trust me; there is nothing I love more than torturing humans. That is why I saved you in the first place cause you are going to torture humans for me. Of course, you don't have to torture the good ones. Just those that deserve it," Louis said.
He added the last part to get her interested. After all, he knew she might be interested in hurt[ng does who hurt others. He was okay with whatever she did as long as there was killing and her hand sore with blood.
Iyare calms down to think for a while. "What if I get burned, or my head gets cut off,' she asked.
"Don't worry, as long as you work with me, your head can't get cut off. Did I not already save you from the fire? Don't you think I can do it again? He asked.
Iyare took a deep breath. She definitely did not want to be tortured by Louis; the man smelled evil. She thought of how she would love to punish her perverted stepfather, who molested her for years. That man deserves torture. A lot of people deserved suffering. So why not just stay and give those evil people what they deserve instead of getting tortured.
Louis smiled handsomely to himself. He knew that she take the bid.
"One last thing'" Louis said, facing the door. "Your father's enemies from the underworld will come for you. Ready or not so, brace yourself up. I believe you know what to do. Oh, and if you decide to fill your background, it will cost you two lives," he said and walked out.
Iyare looked at the closing door and then gently climbed down her bed. She was no longer sleepy. She walked to the door and opened it. Then she walked quietly toward her father's study. She wanted to take a look at what was in the safe. She opened the door quietly and walked inside.
The study was spacious—a large gold table in the middle and a couch opposite it. Iyare eyes roamed through the bookshelf before she sighted a safe.
She walked over to it and was about to type in her mother's birthday when she noticed the safe was not locked. She pulled it open; she was not surprised to see it empty. Somebody must have gotten to it before her.
What would she do now? She wondered what the hell would happen if Charles had the files already. She must make a new policy; no one can leave the house without getting checked. Cece must have stolen the files for her lover. Her head spun.
What would she do now? Should she contact Louis so he will tell her about the contact? Now that they were gone, she knew she needed to act fast.
Her hands tighten into a fist, slamming the door to the safe angrily. A loud bang echoed through the room. Luckily it was soundproof. Iyare was about to turn around and leave when she noticed the bookshelf coming together and a large safe coming into view.
Iyare smiled; she realize that the first safe was a distraction. her father must be cunning, he hid the safe properly. Who would have thought something like this is here unless they were already informed. She believed someone must have opened the first safe in search of that information.
Iyare walked over and typed her mother's birth date. The safe opened, and Iyare's jaw dropped open when she saw the many files neatly arranged. Reading and understanding everything there will take her a year or more. She was about to pick a file when she suddenly remembered the house security cameras.
She instantly looked around for them but couldn't find any. Iyare immediately closed the safe. She should find out from Sam about the Camera in the study before she explored it. Just then, she heard footsteps running up the stairs. She wondered what was going on. And why there will be running around the house at that time. She waited a few minutes; then she heard the steps going back. She hurriedly opened the door only to find Peter and Sam sweating seriously and looking worried. Anxiety was written on their face.
"Thank goodness you are fine," Sam commented. Iyare looked at them, puzzled. Why would they think something happened to her, she wondered.
"The house got attacked, so we asked Adam to check on you. He returned a few minutes later, saying you were not in your room. We rushed up since we were done dealing with those who attacked. We were shocked to see your room empty. We thought they distracted us by fighting while they sneak up to adopt you," Sam explained what had happened.
"Any clue who attacked the house?" Iyare asked. She noticed the hesitation in Sam's eyes.
"We caught two of the intruders, four died, and the rest escaped. We tried to get information from the two we captured, but they seemed not to know anything. I guess that there was a third party. Maybe they just used them to taste the water." Sam explained.
"Where are they?" Iyare asked. She could already guess that her father's rival from the underworld came, or it was Charles or both.
Adam and Andrew took her to the torture room. "We want to get any clue we can from them. They seem to be holding back some information," Sam said.
'Let go," Iyare said, shaking her head. It seems she has to forget about sleeping tonight, she told herself.
