Chapter 1: A visit from Zeus's kids?

The city of Olympus located on the mountain of the same name was experiencing an unusually quiet day. A rare event actually. There weren't any music concerts, gladiatorial battles or any other events taking place. In the throne room, all seven thrones, with room for more, were empty except for lone figure tending the hearth at the center of the room. This was Hestia, the goddess of the hearth and also a part of the Olympian council.

As Hestia was tending to the hearth, she felt a presence that was entering the room. As soon as she felt it though, a flash of grey was seen. No sooner had it appeared, three shriveled old ladies were seen on rocking chairs, spinning a pitch black thread that had a bit of dark blue intertwined in itl. Hestia's eyes widened, and she immediately got up to greet the visitors.

"Good evening…Fates?" asked Hestia, cringing inwardly as she honestly wasn't sure how to address them.

The one spinning the thread, Clotho, smirked at her. "No need for greetings, goddess. If you would be so kind, can you summon the council for us. We have news to bear."

Hestia nodded and quickly summoned a fireball, which she quickly launched towards the roof of the room. Six flashes were quickly followed suite. At the head throne, Zeus appeared in a bolt of lightning along with his wife, Hera. They were the King and Queen of Olympus. Poseidon then appeared as well, with Demeter to his right. On the other side, Ares and Athena, two children of Zeus, with Ares being Hera's son, though the same cannot be said for Athena, also appeared. Hestia quickly went over to her throne while the others quickly masked their looks of shock and apprehension on seeing the Fates. It was never a common occurrence to see them of course, outside of giving a young godling its domains.

Zeus then cleared his throat and was about to address them when Lachesis, the allotter, raised her hand thus silencing him. "We have no time for formalities Zeus. We have sensed a premonition as well as a vision, which yes, sounds absurd since we know everything all in a span of a day. Today." she grumbled.

Lachesis then continued. "We three will be travelling the depths of Tartarus where we will be searching for a certain…entity. We may not be here for some time but we cannot stress enough how important this may be for the future of Olympus. Because whatever this may be, it will play an important role when it comes to the safety of Olympus for many generations to come. And if in the wrong hands…"

The Olympians present gulped. Having the fates as an audience was scary enough, having them spouting out what seems to be something that could decide their very fate? Even worse.

"Will you all be fine though? Tartarus is a highly dangerous place" asked Zeus.

"Are you worried for us…Father?" drawled Atropos, the inflexible, who smirked inwardly when she saw the king make a face that looked like he swallowed a whole lemon.

"I just…um…uh…" Zeus in the end just kept his mouth shut.

"You don't need to fret, my lord." replied Clotho, as three spiked clubs materialized in each of their hands. "We are the fate of every lummox who stand in our way". They said together.

The three deities then vanished from the throne room with the same grey light.

"You know, I always forget that the Morai are actually your children" said Poseidon with a light chuckle. "And when I am reminded of it, it still remains hilarious that Zeus is actually afraid of one, or in this case a set, of his own kids!" by now Poseidon had a shit eating grin on his face.

"Enough with the jokes Poseidon, didn't you hear what the Fates had to say?" Athena reprimanded. "We have to prepare for what they would ultimately have to bring to us, seeing that it could very well define our fate. And if it's something that the Fates have to personally retrieve themselves, then we really have to prepare for what's to come." Finished Athena somberly.

"You're right daughter" rumbled Zeus while also giving a half glare to Poseidon and a snickering Demeter. "We truly have to prepare for this…thing. And as much as I hate it we would probably have to see to it that it is well maintained under our care. Though I'm not sure if this a weapon to begin with…" pondered Zeus. "What do you think Athena?"

"Both are possible conclusions father. Though I'm leaning towards a weapon." Said Athena.

"A weapon will be great" said Ares with a grin "But imagine if they gave us a monster though. I ain't going to take or help care for some runt, I'm telling you all now only."

"Hmph, I doubt the Fates will be that senile to give us some monster son" replied Hera. "And what is that contraption you have been starting to eat Demeter?" asked Hera.

"It's not some contraption sister, this is what I'm going to call cereal!" said Demeter excitedly. "Made of wheat, rice, oats and other healthy grains."

"Ehhh…I'll pass" muttered Ares while Demeter shouted at him, telling him it's a warriors dish.

"I think it sounds lovely sister" smiled Hestia, "But yes, we must not ignore what the Fates will have given us. And whatever it may be, we ALL will see to it that nothing of harm comes to it at all, is that right? asked Hestia. After she got six affirmed nods, she smiled as she got off her throne and proceeded towards the hearth while shrinking in size. "Then I guess there's nothing else to talk about…" she said while glancing at Zeus.

"Yes, nothing else to discuss" said Zeus. "Oh, and someone should maybe inform Hades as well." He added in as an afterthought. He then got up and left the room in a flash of white with the other gods following suite as well. But not without an underlining apprehension, of what's to come.
