134: A Company of Fools: Operation of Pride VII

"WINNER! SIR SIMON CALDIFAX! THIS IS HIS SEVENTH STRAIGHT WIN!" The announcer bellowed.

[Bone-lasher are you okay?] I asked. The liger shark had just gone up against another liger shark. It was not as big or as experienced as Bone-lasher, but it put up a good fight. Bone-lasher had four long gashes down his side when it had scratched him.

[Just a scratch! I'm strongest!] Bone-lasher roared in response.

[Ssssstrongesssssst punching bag….] Alpa'nagia teased. Bone-lasher snarled and slammed his front paw down while his head was pointed in my direction.

[Sssssssshut it lunch meat!] Bone-lasher barked back. I couldn't help but snicker at his impersonation of Alpa'nagia's voice, I didn't even know he could roll his S's.

[Why you…] Alpa'nagia started but I butted in before he could finish the statement.

[Stop it both of you!" I ordered them then held my hand out. [Bone-lasher come back and heal, that wound looks nasty.]

[It'll heal…] He started but I was already channeling mana and sending it out to him as tendrils. He was enveloped in a crystalline structure and promptly pulled into my crystal with a little resistance.

[It'll heal fast inside here so don't argue with me.] I said.

"WINNER! LADY SYBIL CALDIFAX! THIS IS LADY SYBIL'S NINTH WIN." The announcer bellowed.

'Geez, riding his evos a little hard isn't he?' I thought as I looked over to Sin. He'd recalled his evo already and had let out a sigh of frustration.

<My evo's are getting exhausted!> Sin growled as he stepped off his platform and walked over to mine.

<Mine too…> just sighed. <The constant arguing and bickering between them is exhausting me however.>

<Chase! Sin! That guy you told us to keep an eye out for just walked in with a bunch of others. It looks like a security detail doing a sweep of the place.> Nate announced.

<Took the fucker long enough…> Sin growled and looked towards the entrance. From our position we couldn't see what was going on at the entrance but we could totally yell something was going on, as could all the other contestants and plants.

<Who is that guy?> I asked.

<Sadiq Ramsey…the real right hand of

Draco and the head of his security detail. If he's here then that means Draco isn't that far behind.> Sin said menacingly.

<And where Draco goes so does your sister.> Jade added.

<CHASE!> Bo bellowed loudly over the telepathic link.

<OWWWW!> Everyone exclaimed.

<What is it?> I demanded.

<There's this huge carriage pulling up only it's not being pulled by Steeds, there are some sort of huge lizards.> Bo reported.

<Those are Plate lyzards. Alligator and bearded dragon evos that were designed based off off the bone lyzard and the steed. They look imposing but they're pretty weak. They're only good for pulling carriages.> Sin informed everyone, <They were created by Draco and only he has some so if they're here so is he.>

My vision started to blur as Bone-lasher shared his senses with me. I zeroed in on what was happening outside, the red dragons were scrambling to assemble outside and line up in two rows on either side of the carriage door. The one that Sin said was Sadiq rushed between both lines and opened the carriage door stepping to the side to allow the occupants to exit.

A tall and elegantly dressed man stepped out first. He gave a sweeping glance at the men and women who'd come out to greet him and smiled proudly. Given how all the red dragons basically quaked in his presence the man had to be Draco. Draco turned around and held his hand out, a smaller and delicate hand reach out from the carriage and took his as a beautiful young woman stepped out of the carriage.

<I think I see your sister…> I told Sin.

Sin's eyes lit up as he turned and looked towards the entrance of the warehouse. There was noway he could see her from there and I grabbed his shoulder before he could race off to get a better look.

<Sin, calm down, don't go running off and getting yourself killed. Stick to the current plan. We have him here and he has no idea that you're here. Just stick to the plan and everything will be fine.> I assured him. Sin looked at me with a serious stare and said.

<I'm putting my life and my sister's life in your hands. Don't fuck it up boss.>

<Understood.> I replied with confidence.

Vaudwell came raving down the catwalk towards Sin and I with a nervous expression on his face. He came to a stop in front of me Sin and smiled sweetly at me however his smile had lost a lot of the charm it had earlier in the night.

"Sir Caldifax and lady Sybil! Congratulations on lasting so long in the competition. The evos you have raised and cultivated are truly marvelous. However we are going to have to take a quick pause for a little bit." Vaudwell said.

"There a reason for this?" Sin asked sounding exasperated.

"Yes! We're preparing a perfect opponent for you Lady Sybil. Just give us time." Vaudewell replied.

"Okay, but make it quick. I don't have all night." Sin said. Vaudwell nodded then quickly sauntered off.

<They're planning something…> Sin said, narrowing his eyes on Vaudwell.

<Of course, they're only one fight away from having to pay millions…> I replied then suddenly felt a ominous chill. <Wait no…you're right this is something else…>

"LADY SYBIL CALDIFAX TO HER HILL! LADY SYBIL CALDIFAX TO HER HILL!" The announcer bellowed. Sin and I shared a look of suspicion before he turned and walked back to his platform.

<Jade, Nate is anything going on over there?> I asked.

<Draco came inside along with who I assume is Sin's sister. Everyone basically cleared a path as he and her walked towards the betting booths.> Jade summarized.

<Wait? Where's Sadiq?> Sin asked.

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN WE HAVE A SURPRISING ENTRY INTO OUR CONTEST HERE! CHALLENGING LADY SYBIL CALDIFAX IS THE GUARD DOG OF THE DRAGON SADIQ RAMSEY!" The announcer bellowed as I saw Sadiq walk down the catwalk towards Sin's arena.

<FUCK!> Sin cursed in English.

<What's fuck?> Nate asked in universal standard.

<Sadiq!> Sin spat. The venom and malice in his voice was so thick it dripped like cold molasses.

<Keep it together Sinner!> I snapped.

<I know! I know!> Sin barked.

Sadiq made his way to the opponents platform with the assured ease of a experienced predator. I'd have thought him cocky but there was something about his gaze and the way he was looking at Sin that unnerved me.

"Meghido!" Sin exclaimed as he summoned his evo. As it emerged from its structure I could see it was different than the evo he's used earlier.

This new evo was different to say the least. It was serpentine…I think, it had a long body, around eight or nine feet long that was covered in thick Grey fur. It's face looked like a mix between a wolf and a viper and was oddly cute with its exaggeratedly large eyes. As I examined the length of the evo I noticed thar the fur around its tail looked strange. On closer inspection I realized that it look that way because it was hiding a organic blade of sorts. What it was made of I couldn't tell you bur it was about nine inches long.

"You won't defeat my fluff-viper!" Sin exclaimed.

"Fluff-viper…what a cute type name. Shame what's going to happen to it…Kalhaptis!" Sadiq exclaimed his farm crystal glowing brightly lighting up his entire skull in a malicious light.

A crystalline structure shot out from his crysta and landed in the arena a few yards away from Sin's Meghido. A massive evo emerged from the structure, I knew what it was in an instant, a hyglodon. A naval attack evo that was made using sea snake and killer whale DNA. While there were two variations of the hyglodon the one in front of me was the worst. It was a Hyglodon Hydris. Normal hyglons stood at just over seven feet long and with a long serpentine body with the head of a killer whale. The hydris variety stood between twenty two and thirty feet long possessed the same long serpentine body only they had multiple heads. The number carried from evo to evo but the one in front of me was of the rarest variety, it had nine heads and stood at the full thirty feet.

<Sin your evo is too small you can't win against that!> I told him.

<I can't lose! My sister is so close!> Sin snapped back.

"On thee field we have Lady Sybil's Fluff-viper and Sadiq's hyglodon hydris! EVO BAAAAAAATTTTTTLLLLLLEEEEE! SSSSSSTAAAAAAAART!"

As soon as the words left the announcers mouth the hyglodon coiled up and struck at Meghido with one of its heads. It moved so fast I didn't even sew it but I heard the loud pop of it's head breaking the sound barrier and the loud rumble of it crashing into the arena floor and kicking up a huge dust cloud.

I had expected the match to be over already with that one strike however the hyglodon's head let put a painful screech and reared back our of the dust cloud. Meghido had managed to dodge the attack at the last second and slash the hyglodon in the eye with it's tail blade.

Meghido rushed out of the dust cloud, it was faster than I thought it would be. In an instant I reached the base of the hyglodon's body and slashed it with it's tail blade. It left a long cut but it wasn't that deep. The hyglodon's fatty hide protected it from most of the damage.

The all nine of the hyglodon's heads looked down at the small fluff-viper with a look of superiority and annoyance.

"Meghido, strange cloud!" Sin yelled. Meghido shook its body and a small cloud of yellow dust flew off of its fur and obscured it from view. The hyglodon was not impressed by the fluff-viper's little smoke screen and all nine heads lunged at the same time. It sounded like multiple guns going off at the same time and sent a shockwave that knocked both Sin and Sadiq back.

"Quite an interesting battle wouldn't you say Sir Simon." A deep and smooth voice said from behind me. K jumped at the sound and turned around to see Draco and Sin's sister standing behind me, along with a small detachment of red dragon guards behind them.

"Ah! Draco! I didn't hear you walk up on me. You surprised me." I said trying to sound casual. Draco smiled politely at me and took a step back.

"Apologies Sir, I thought you'd heard me approach, I've been told that I need to have a bell attached to me so I can stop sneaking up on little Adellah here." Draco apologized then flashed a tender smile at Sin's sister, Adellah.

"Draco! How many times do I have to tell you to stop calling me little, I'm nineteen!" Adellah huffed. I narrowed my eyes at Adellah. She and Sin shared similar facial features around the eyes and mouth only hers were more softened to look striking and gorgeous where Sin's were stoic and hardened.

Draco caught me staring at Adellah and wrapped a possessive arm around her and pulled her close.

"Forgive me Sir Simon, I didn't introduce you to my lovely wife last time we met." Draco said. Adellah smiled and blushed a little when he said wife then looked at me with a innocent smile.

"Nice to meet you Sir Simon, I'm Adellah Draconian, formally Akkesin…but you knew that already didn't you imposter." Adellah said the innocent smile she had dropped in a instant and replaced with a murderous glare.
