Enki, a man who died, remembers his second life after being offered a job and a second chance to make a journey through the multiverse.
He awoke with a gasp, it was that same dream again. Someone holding him in his arms, golden hair and red eyes. He shook his head free of these thoughts as he got up and dressed ready for work.
His life had been the same as always, eat, sleep, work. He looked at the mirror as he adjusted his jacket. His long green hair flowed over his shoulders as they reached his back. His green eyes glimmered like jewels. He looked perfect as if he was created by the gods themselves.
Satisfied with his jacket he set off to work.
Enki, that was his name, he grew up with no parents therefore he had no family name nor did he have a surname.
He was known as solely Enki.
Enki worked at a zoo where they had marvelled at how the animals interacted with him. They loved him even the most dangerous animals wanted to snuggle up against him. Everyone thought that they were the perfect match. His green features made him look like he was a part of nature.
Enki got up as he patted the lion on his head, for some reason the lion reminded him of something. The lion let out a sad roar as it attempted to hug onto Enki's leg.
Enki simply slipped his leg out and placed a piece of meat down to pacify the lion. The lion reluctantly let Enki out of his enclosure. Enki hummed as he enjoyed his work and got paid quite well for it.
The kitchen was the place where Enki would cook his afternoon lunch. Enki got out the pan as he prepared the fire on the stove.
It was a surprise when Enki saw a spark as he attempted to run only for the kitchen to blow up from a gas explosion. All the animals eventually lost their happy and joyful mood as any attempts at petting them were returned with hostility.
The normal happy lions and tigers, had their mood plummet to the lowest levels as they attempted to rip up any zoo keeper who entered their enclosure.

Enki awoke inside a perfectly white room which looked like a box. Someone opened a door as it closed behind him. The man had a beard as he sat down on the table opposite to Enki. Enki slowly opened his mouth until interrupted.
"You have questions right?"
Enki nodded.
"So how did I get here?"
The man chuckled "You died again!" He opened his arms wide as if expecting applause while Enki slowly clapped. The man was surprised "Damn I actually didn't expect you to go with it, that earns you a bonus after."
"Now you lived a life before the life you currently experienced. So without further ado, we'll get to retrieving your memories."
The man leaned over and tapped Enki's head as a flood of information entered his mind.
Enkidu was his name.
Chain of Heavens.
Gilgamesh.
Ishtar.
Death.
His memories all came back as he sat there and took it all in. "So that really all did happen."
The man nodded, "Right so I have a deal for you, in return for living a second life, your existence will be similar to a counter guardian. Except you have a certain degree of freedom and if you accumulate enough EP then you can buy your freedom!"
Enkidu nodded as he considered it but what convinced him was what came next.
"You might even be sent to a place where your friend is."
Enkidu's eyes widened, his friend Gilgamesh, King of Uruk. The final battle as he crumbled away.
"I'll do it."
The man smiled as he stroked his beard, "I have a new edition of the status panel, just simply say "Status" and it'll show you your parameters and skills."
"Also there is a shop for the employees as depending on how well you complete your mission, you get EP (Exchange Points) and you can use those to purchase anything, yes including your freedom."
Enkidu nodded as he spoke "Status".

The man stroked his beard as he seemed to have reached enlightenment. "I see since you have moved into your second chance the power you had is yet to become accustomed to your old body again. Therefore your stats have deteriorated to the point that you can handle."
Enkidu nodded as he asked "So I'm assuming that I can get my original parameters back?"
The man nodded "Yes you can purchase an upgrade which raises your parameters by one rank."
Enkidu nodded as he simply asked "So where am I going first?" The man shook his head.
"Tut, tut, tut, did you forget? I said you're getting a bonus."
Enkidu was surprised as a card appeared with a voucher that had the man's face printed on it with a thumbs up.
A panel popped up

[You have obtained 2000 EP Voucher]
Enkidu bowed as he gave his thanks. The man smiled "Right so without any more delays I'll be sending you to your first world. You can live however you want but the moment you use your powers you'll have to start your job. I won't say what you're supposed to do, but all I can say is try go for a happy ending?"
Enkidu nodded as his memories of his previous life had given him plenty of knowledge about different worlds and he seemed to have different aspects of personality from both his lives.
He slowly faded out into particles of golden light.
