Memory Drain

With the doctor's words, a bomb-drop silence floated around the atmosphere. The girl stared at the doctor more confused than before. Her gaze riveted from the doctor and then to Alexander.

"Doctor, is the anything you can do about it?" Alexander inquired.

"Actually, the is in fact one thing that can be helpful. That is, to take her to places she's familiar with, and maybe she should hang around more with familiar people." The doctor recommended.

Alexander nodded slowly, even though he knew that what the doctor said was not going to be possible.

He is a stranger to her, how the hell was he going to familiarize her with places she had been to and people she knows?

A big no! Because the possibility of it is an enormous zero.

"I understand Doctor." Saying that, he stood, pulling over his suit.

"She's not to be discharged now right?" Alexander asked the doctor.

"At least by tomorrow evening, Mr. Luen." The doctor affirmed.

"Alright, I'll take my leave now and be back by tomorrow." Alex said, peering fixedly at the girl who was also gazing at him with unrest in her eyes.

"Do have a good day Mr. Luen."

After the doctor's words, Alex tore away his gaze, turned around and strode out of the ward with the other guy following behind.

With folded knees and hands clasped underneath, She sat still looking outside of the window, at the starry sky. It was cold, but she had no blanket on. Her eyes were dull and lifeless. Or more like, that was what she felt like, lifeless!.

She was devoid of all expression. Blank as a sheet, she bent her head over her now folded arms untop her knees. She looked more of a depressed patient than an injured one.

All this while, the was only one thing on her mind. 'How was her life?, Did she live well or badly. Was she a good girl? Or a bad girl? What was her character like?" She kept asking herself mentally.

She needed a very clear elaboration on herself, but who could do that. She knows no one. Or rather, remembers no one. Such a life, sigh!

She shifted a little, it seemed the cold had finally crept up to her. The goosebumps present on her skin was an obvious declaration.

The door to the ward creaked open, revealing a nurse who was in her night shift. She instantly ran up to her with squinted facials.

Covering her up, the nurse lectured."You shouldn't be near the window by this time, it's pretty cold, atleast you should put up a blanket." The nurse ranted while covering her up with haste. She could feel the cold radiating from her smooth skin.

But is was though those lectures and friendly rants all befell deaf ears because the girl looked at her blankly with no uterance of co-orporation.

"Sleep." The nurse gently laid her down comfortably. luckily, she did as told and wasn't a stubborn type.

Upon seeing her eyes still wide open and deviod of all lethargic feelings, the nurse smiled in a friendly manner. "What's your name little girl?" The nurse asked.

This question got her, her brows furrowed. How come she hadn't asked herself that, she haven't even thought that she had no name if not mentioned.

A weak but bitter smile grazed her full and plump lips. She can't even remember her own name, it's just…Wow.

She peered at the nurse. "I don't know." She replied plainly.

The nurse had a shift of expression, it seemed she had remembered something she shouldn't have forgotten. "Oh.. Yeah, It's okay, it will come." She replied awkwardly with a laugh that didn't sound authentic. Obviously she just tried to salvage the weirdness.

The sad and heartbreaking smile coming from the young girl wasn't too pleasant to look at.

Of course, how will one feel waking up one day and can't remember anything? The feeling is just not okay.

"I was on my shift so came to check up on you, you should sleep now okay? It's late, staying up this late won't speed up your recovery." The nurse advised as she shut the window and drew the curtains. "Sleep tight."

With a light pat on her head, the nurse left in steady steps, closing the door back.

Instead of sleeping as she was told, she gave liberty to the clutching thoughts in her head, this time she was more curious on this matter. "Who is she?"

Something like flashes of scenes appeared in her vision, making her sit up right again.

She knew she could feel it coming. She purposely shut her eyes, but nothing happened anymore.

Frustratingly, she shut her eyes again, this time tighter. Her brows were scrunched and furrowed. She was really trying hard.

Sweats had already started forming huge dots and trails on her forehead. Her palms were squeezed shut.

The images…, they were coming, but it wasn't clear enough to understand. She could only see images in grey and black. Her vision was exceptionally clouded with dark colours and hues.

She could feel herself getting dizzy, but she refused to stop without getting a clear picture of whatever she was seeing going on. Looks like memories or without memories, she still the same stubborn willful girl she was.

The sweats all over her body made her feel suffocating, even with the cool breeze blowing from the air conditioner in the ward. She was still pespirating.

Her breaths became quick, her heart also started to palpitate.

What's going on? She had no idea, even at that she refused to stop forcing the scenes in her head to be on repeat. She badly wanted to know what they were.

Upon all the insisting trial, she still could get nothing aside from those blurry….,no, blocked figures in movement.

She felt her head start to spin. A figure running with might, and a car coming with great speed.

Finally she got one thing!

"No.. Don't…" She whispered, but the image couldn't stop playing in her head. Before suddenly, the car came crashing with the figure, sending it flying distance away.

"No..!!" Her eyes automatically flung open. She breathed hard! Soaked in sweat. Trying to catch her breath. But before she could steady her breathing and the rhythm of her heart beat, Her eyes rolled back and she fell weak on the bed, down to unconciousness.
