Chapter 56: A Shrine in A Pendant?

Bob leaned like jelly on two of his friends for support, for as the alcohol began taking effect. "Guards! Let everyone go! I want to see him solely suffer. Painfully. Slowly."

Wanting to impress their young master, the first bodyguard crept forward.

[Really? You're going to send a Tier 5 intermediate to fight an Axonn?] everyone gave the idiotic guard a pitiful look. They returned to their original seats, unbothered.

Aura Users? They can at most dodge bullets or bend metal with utilization of Aura and the brute force of their strengthened physical body.

Axonns can project Aura, deflect bullets or produce massive destruction through performing secret techniques. They have partially exceeded the limitations of the human body, defying the laws of Physics.

"Puh!" The man vomited air out as Atlas jabbed him in the guts, falling down in agony.

"No way!" Drunk Bob immediately sobered up a little. He literally saw this bodyguard splitting a boulder into half with his bare hands! How did he get defeated so easily?

Soon, hatred enveloped him. This kid is constantly taunting him. In school! And even before his body guards!

But he wasn't worried, because he has a master card up his sleeve. He saw his father being super respectful to a new bodyguard he hired. He must be strong. And he was by his side.

"Zhafir. Your turn." Bob motioned to the man in dark skin beside him with slight respect and politeness. Unlike the other guards, Zhafir spoke in a more genuine tone.

"Yes young master."

He stood out.

Atlas frowned.

Solely judging on his sinister presence, this man excelled a whole level above the other bodyguards.

The man who is currently walking out is a Tier 1 Expert Axonn. How can the Rent family afford to invite such an expensive bodyguard when they aren't even considered close to a Class 3 Family?

"Kid. Kneel down so I won't have to break your limbs." Zhafir inched forwards, removing his jacket as if it would add some special effects.

"I'm not going to waste any time." Atlas concentrated his electric Aura within his clasping palms. He's testing if he can blast the hell out of that Axonn like he did with the old man.

Atlas felt a budge on his shoulder.

Nova retrieved his hand. "We don't want him dead. Keep him as alive as possible. There might be information obtainable."

"Roger."

————————

After 10 seconds later.

All the alcohol has expired through the cold sweat that drenched his forehead.

Bob has never seen a person beat up so badly until he can't become recognized.

Zhafir, the bodyguard who he had high hopes for, was beaten to a pulp, his features swollen like an abnormal, inflated balloon.

The rest of the bodyguards shivered in the corner in fear. Their superior gave them orders to obey Zhafir's every command, because he is a legendary Axonn!

Witnessing a 'god' get thrashed in front of their disbelieving eyes, inferiority washed over their hearts and mind, disabling their ability to process the situation and react.

"Hello inferior Bob! Remember me? Your friendly neighborhood Atlas over here. And yes. That is my real name." Atlas snapped Bob out of his trance of traumatization. "Listen. We don't really need to hurt you. As long as you tell us where the Rent Family is located...."

"I'll show you! Don't hurt me! I'll lead you there!" Haven't gotten a chance to finish his sentence, Bob has already begun weeping without dignity, succumbed to Atlas's non-threatening threatening.

Atlas looked behind to the gang with confirmation. This is the so called precious son of the Rent Family? His spirit is weak. Easily broken.

Hmmm— Hmmm—

Something vibrated inside of Bob's pocket.

Searching his pocket, they found a phone. On the display screen, wrote "Uncle Chris Rent".

Hugh clenched his fist upon witnessing that name. The humiliation from letting him escape the last time enraged him.

"You better behave kid."

Atlas answered the phone and activated speaker, commanding him to speak into it.

"Hello. Hi uncle Chris." Feeling the cold sting of the parazonium of Nova's against his weak, trembling throat, Bob held down his urge to cry, flattening his tone difficultly. "I'm wondering if you could ask the maids to prepare some snack and beverages for some..."

He glanced up. "Some new, kind friends I made. Thanks. I'll see you later uncle."

Beep— then after a while, the phone hung up.

"Good job Bob. Now we require you to guide us to the Rent Family."

————————

Barnes Rent has never been so beaten before.

His establishment was crumbling so swiftly. His men were frail children in the face of the intruders. One by one, they were knocked out, peeling away the layers of self induced confidence around his heart.

[Who are you! What do you want!] he screamed in his heart as he used Spiritual Projection to spectate the people striding along the corridor and nearing his master room.

One Tier 1 Axonn, 5 Axonns who's rank he could not detect, as well as a pair of Aura Users whom he saw were dominating over all his men.

They are an unstoppable force.

Bam! The grand door slammed open, bits and morsels of splinters sprinkling the red carpet. And in a purple flash, he felt an icy, indestructible snake coiling around him, immobilizing him to even make the slightest resistance.

He tried to twist his wrist but as if the object was designed to lock its target stationary, he could not propel himself by initiating a thrust through Aura Projection.

{Rather than lamenting for something I temporarily cannot achieve, I went on to explore this lonely world.}

Atlas was relieved when he heard Nam speaking again. Nam had shut down after Atlas's phone call to Hugh. It seems like he has a big discovery.

{You know how I explained that this world had no other being except for me? Yeah. I wasn't lying. But now I'm not certain anymore.}

[What do you mean?] Atlas sort of did a dab like move to evade the Aura coated tip of a spear, catching the wooden pole between his right arm and armpit. [So there're other living beings?]

{No. No other living beings. I am technically not a living being too. Anyway, where I usually rest in this world, is a plain field of greenery.}

Atlas activated his chain. It increased to 2 meters and he flung the end of his chain to collect the range of weapons scattered on the corridor, from melee to firearms. He is getting used to this amazing weapon and figuring out its most effective style of attack or defense. [And So?]

{There's a shrine now. Erected without my knowledge.}

[A shrine?!] Atlas halted from this unexpected answer. [Does it look nice? Did you check it out?]

{I tried to unlock the front gate. No luck. I did find a stand by the door though. There's a stone... a stone dazzling with whitish substance. I don't know what to do with it, so thought a Warrior like you would figure it out.}

[You mean an Aura Stone? Aura stones contains Aura and is pretty common amongst...] Atlas was communicating with Nam before a warm gush of air vented up his brain.

Our brain is basically a vast sea designed to accommodate unlimited knowledge.

Students always have trouble accomplishing one thing— memorizing texts or poems.

In Atlas's case, that wasn't a problem.

This geyser of air plummeted into the sea, forming into a paragraph of words that solidified in liquid.

{Atlas. After I squeezed it a little, it crumbled and something flew out.}

Atlas bopped his head. [Very late of a warning, Nam.]

{Woah. Okay. Okay. Atlas. Try to think. Hard. Very hard. If you feel something, channel it to... your chain.}

[Why? You might have inserted drugs into my brain!]

{I'm reading a manuel... never mind. It's too complicated to explain. Just do it!}

Atlas rolled his eyes.

Here we go?

Atlas scratched his scalp. [Is anything supposed to happen?]

Here we go?

[Nope. Still failed.]

As the group approached the grand door that lead to a luxurious master bedroom, Nova noticed Atlas's weird behavior. "Ssps. Atlas. Still online?"

"Yeah! Of course I am!"

[Imma ignore this dumb crap.]

Surrendering, Atlas released his Third Eye to scan the room.

It hit the jackpot.

[Nam! I think you really injected some drug in me.] Atlas felt a fever hot sensation in his mind, which soon retreated from its stronghold, maneuvering through his chest, along his arm, and into its final destination.

As the chain in Atlas's grasp glowed more and more luminously, Nova reminded Atlas in case he somehow did not notice the light that couldn't be any brighter. "Bro, I think your chain is going crazy!"

"Bind... Lock away... Seal... Blo..."

The words whispering in his head were drowned by his own perplexed thoughts.

Before Atlas could react, the chain expanded in length rapidly, darting through the door with a loud bang and into the room like a homing missile onto a target.

The next thing he knew, was that a middle-aged Tier 1 Axonn was already wrapped in a bundle like how crabs are constricted before they are served on plates.
