MIDTOWN HIGH SCHOOL

Next Day Morning

"Good Morning Mom, Dad." Chris greeted them

"Good morning Son." They greeted back

"Has Mathew and Yvonne woke up?" Mom asked

"Yeah, I sent them to the bathroom before I came down." Chris replied

"OK. So, tell me are you excited to go to midtown high school." Mom asked

"Yeah, I heard that it is a place where great minds come together." Chris replied

"You know son if you want, we can let you go to MIT now. You don't to go high school if it's not much use to you." Mom said

"No need, I want to go to high school. and you know I have plans to be a marine." Chris replied

"Well, we haven't yet decided that" mom said giving a look toward dad obviously disagreeing with it.

"Mom, you know its always been my plan. To be a Combat medic. Well not exactly but still nothing you say will change that."

"But son…." Mom was cut by Yvonne and Mathew

"Good morning mom, dad, big brother." Yvonne said excitedly

"Good morning, Dianne." They replied

"Where is your bag, darling?" Mom asked

"What bag, Mom?" Yvonne replied with a shifty eye.

"Yeah, yeah, I know what's going on your mind. Go get your bag." Mom scolded lightly

"Ok" she said as she slumped and walked upstairs.

"So, what's for breakfast?" Chris asked

"Sandwich and orange juice" mom replied

By the time, I finished eating, George has already reached my house. I said goodbye to mom, dad, Mathew and Dianne and rushed to join him.

"Good morning, buddy" Chris said George

"Hey, man" George replied back

"So, what were you up to in the holidays" Chris asked

"Nothing much. Visited relatives. You?" George asked

"We went to Paris, Amsterdam and London" Chris said

Chris and George walked to the school while telling the stories about what they did during the holiday.

After ten minutes they reached the school, they took in a minute to enjoy the sight and went in. They went straight to their lockers and took the books and went to their class. First was the English, since they have it together, they went in sat in the back together. After several minutes, the teacher came and started to take the class. Several minutes into the class, a girl came into the class, dirty blond hair and blue eyes. When I saw her, it was like I was bought into another plane or dimension, my heart started to beat very fast as everything in my surrounding turned white except her until George woke me up from my trance and gave me knowing look.

 I never took my eyes of her during the full time in the class. Even the English teacher scolded and teased me about it. After the class, we went to our separate classes. I had AP biology and George had economics. For half the day, I didn't find her in any of my classes and I was disappointed.

But during the lunch break, in the cafeteria, me and George were walking around trying to find a table. When we suddenly heard a loud thud and students laughing. So, George and me turned back to see what's happening. We saw a boy with glasses being poured with milkshake on his head while a girl was trying to collect what's left of her food from the ground.

 When I saw this, I became angry and handed my plate to George and walked up to the kid to stop him. When I got in between them, the bully became angered and tried to throw a punch. I moved my head to side to dodged him and slightly nudged him back as he tripped and fell down. I looked at him who is fuming with anger and shame and said in a teasing tone

"Now, now don't be angry. First let's introduce ourselves. My name is Christopher. What is yours?"

He patted the dust on himself and got up to say "Harrison"

"Ok, Harry, Can I call you Harry? Bullying is wrong, right? So, what do you say? You say sorry for what you did and buy them food. We call it even."

"No can do" Harry smiled wretchedly and ran towards me.

He threw right hook, left hook, left kick and a right uppercut. I just dodged all his punches and when he got off balance, I tripped him and he fell face forward. Then I turned over and looked at him coldly and said

"Listen here Harry, those two are my friends now, best friends. So, don't bully them anymore. In fact, don't dully anyone anymore. If I hear that you bullied anyone in this school, I will give you ten times what you gave them. Now, get of your ass and get them the food you trashed."

I looked at him for a few moments who was shocked to react and said again "that's your cue now run."

Harry got up fast and got their food and gave it to them. Then I went George took my plate and went to sit at a table. Before sitting I tried to look for her, but still couldn't find her. George teased me seeing how anxious I looked. We were eating and chatting when those two came up and said

"Thank you, for helping us." They both said

"Never mind. If you have no place to sit, you can sit here." I said as I could see sincerity in their eyes 

They both sat down and introduced themselves.

"Hi, I am Susan storm." The girl said

"Hi, I am Richard parker." The boy said

"Hi, I am Christopher Carbonell and this idiot is George Stacy."

"So, what subject do you like?"

"I like genetics and technology." Richard said

"I like biology and chemistry." Susan said

"Ohm genetics. That is good one. You want to be Captain America." Chris asked teasingly

"Hmm… I want to cure all the genetic diseases." Richard said

"Noble dream." Chris said and looked at Susan. After a few moments, she still doesn't speak and kept blinking her eyes innocently. I didn't say anything and started eating again. After eating we went on our ways. Susan and Chris went AP chemistry while George had a free hour and Richard had AP physics.

 When Susan and me reached the class, I was surprised to see her sitting at the table alone reading a book. So, I pulled Susan and went to her side to asked

"Is anyone using these two seats?"

"No" the girl replied

"So, can we sit?" I asked

"Yes" she replied

"Thank you, by the way I am Christopher and this Susan. Nice to meet you" I introduce ourselves

"Nice to meet you too. I am Katherine." She replied

The teacher came in by that time, and he started the class. After the class, we were going to our locker. On the way, George and Richard also joined. Then we split up for next class. I didn't have any class, so I thought to go to the swimming pool for some lap. Before going there, I saw Katherine by the locker and asked

"Hey, Katherine Do you want to go out with me this weekend, I will show you New York."

"Ok, let's go. Come at 10 AM" she said as she scribbled her address in my book.

"Ok." Chris said as he smiled when she gave the book back.

 Throughout the week, Chris met her in class and during lunch. Richard and Susan became closer to us. So, I invited all of them to the house for a barbecue on Sunday.

The week went by very fast and tomorrow was my first date with Katherine. On the weekend, as usual I woke up early in the morning did my workout, had breakfast and got ready for the date.

 After bidding my parents goodbye, I went out for the date. I followed the address she gave me and reached the house ten minutes before the promised time. I ringed the bell and door were opened. I saw a middle-aged woman behind the door raven hair and blue eyes smiling at me and said

"You must be the date."

"Hi, nice to meet you, mam. My name is Christopher Carbonell." I replied

"Oh, a cultured one at that. Come in, Christopher. She isn't still ready yet. Do you want something to drink?" she asked

"No, thank you." I replied

As we were talking, she came down the stairs and asked

"I thought I told you to come at 10AM. Why are you here early?"

"Well, I thought…" as I turned to her, I fell into a trance. I didn't see anything else but her.

"Earth to Christopher. Are you alive?" she said as she shook me out of my stupor.

"You look beautiful." I said to her and saw her and her mother looking at me weirdly.

"What happened?" I asked her

"Nothing. Let's go" she said to me

"Bye Ms. Van dyne. Bye mom" we both said to her mother

"Be careful on the road. And Christopher bring her back early."

"Yes, mam" I replied to her

As we walked to the sidewalk, I asked her

"Why was your mother looking at me weirdly?" I asked her confused

"Well, you kept staring at me in a trance."

"Did I?" I asked her scratching my head

"Hmm…" she said looking at me amused

"Well, I couldn't help it. You were that beautiful and I felt like in a different world only with you. I am sorry for making it weird and awkward." I said

"You are smooth talker, aren't you? Tell me where we are going?" she asked

"Well, it's better for you to see rather than me telling it."

I hailed a taxi and we went to a pier. I went to dock where 'ELISA' was parked.

After we got in the boat, Kat asked with little nervousness and anxious

"Can you operate it properly?"

I faced her with a smile and said

"I know how to ride it. Believe me, I will protect you."

"Ok. I believe you."

"Then, off we go." I said as I pushed the levered as we moved forward slowly.

"So, are we just going to travel randomly or certain route."

"Yes, there are specific routes we can take or we will clash with container ship routes."

"Yes, that will be bad. We should definitely avoid that." She said as she acted scared.

Then I took her around the long island through scenic route. She really enjoyed the ride seeing by the smile on her face. Then I slowly drove the boat towards the open sea and took to a lagoon nearby and parked it. I walked to her and asked

"Hey, Kat do you know how to swim?"

 "Yes."

"Do you want to go scuba diving?"

"Yes. Let's go"

"Then let's gear up"

After putting the scuba suit and I also helped her put it. We jumped into the ocean. After few seconds of darkness, the scenery below the ocean changed and it still exhilarates and amazes me even though I am seeing it for the second time, we spent some half an hour to an hour in there. While she was enjoying the bottom of the ocean, I caught some fish. After enjoying the ocean, we came back up. Then we changed our gear and lay on top of the boat sunbathing. I was expecting her to put some swimsuit but she was conservative. So, we just lay there on the seats sipping orange juices as the boat slowly moved to the next destination.

 After parking the boat, I said to Isaac

"Take the boat back to pier. We will not be coming back. Deliver the fish I caught to mom and tell her we will grill it tomorrow."

"Ok, young master"

Then me and Kat go off the boat and walked along the sidewalk. She asked me

"Young master, where are we going?"

"Ha-Ha funny. To eat. You will like it. It is a famous place" I replied

When we reached in the front of shop but the outside was desolate. She turned to me confused and asked

"Are we at the right place?"

"Yes, come on." I pulled her along as we went in the door.

It was like a different world in there. The restaurant was almost full with people as they were enjoying someone singing folk music. It was a different feel from the outside world. I found my favorite corner was free. So, I guided her through the crowd towards the place.

"This is my favorite corner seat of the restaurant. From here, we can see the full place clearly as well as the outside."

As I was speaking to her, somebody called me who I recognized.

"Hey, Chris" He Said

"Hey, John" I said as I gave him a hug and parted to introduce each other.

"Kat, this is John, the owner of this fine establishment and John, this is my date Katherine." 

"Ohm, date. You must be the one he is been waiting for." John teased me as he and Kat greeted each other.

"John, what is special on the menu?" I asked

"We have Eggs Benedict and Pasta Primavera." John said

"We will have one plate each and bring two extra plates." I replied

"Okay, comin' right up. You two enjoy while I attend to newcomers." John said

"Thanks, John." I replied as he walked away.

Then we both started enjoying the song as well as soaking into the atmosphere of the restaurant. After several minutes, I food came as well as the complementary wine john said for us. We both started eating and talked about small things. After enjoying the food and the place, we both exited the place after bidding John good bye.

After coming out of the restaurant, I hailed a taxi and got in as I told her address to the driver. As the driver started to drive, we both sat in silence while having some small talk while enjoying the view of New York city.

When we reached her house, we both got out as I told the driver to wait. I walked her to the door and she said

"I really enjoyed today, thank you."

"I also had a great time with you." I said and we stood for few moments looking into each other and I leaned in for a kiss and she met me halfway. After a good kiss, I asked her

"Does that mean I get a second date?" I asked

"Let me think about it." She replied playfully

"Hmm… are you free tomorrow?" I asked

"Well, that was fast. Why?" She replied 

"I have a tradition, every month me and my friends will have barbecue at my house. Or when we have new addition to our family. Till now only George, Tony and me were doing it and from today onwards we have three more. So, I am wondering, do you want to come?" I said

"First, tell me, do I include in those three?" She asked

"Of course." I replied

"Then I will see you tomorrow." She replied

Then I gave her peck on her cheek and bid her good bye as I got in the taxi and went away.
