Chapter 9 Alyx

I had no idea why I was helping him anymore.

When I'd first seen him washed up from my river, my animal side had given me no choice; it wouldn't allow me to leave him there. It hadn't taken all that much to make the decision logical, either. There was that damn organization of his- they'd be pissed if I let him die.

But he had quickly made me wish I had left him there to die and suffered the consequences. Stupid, stubborn, idiot human. Every time he opened his mouth, he made me more and more certain that I never should have broken my rules. Should have continued ignoring the idiots who walked into my forest unless I was hungry.

Because he was what happened when I didn't. Passed out in my little clearing, my nest, that I had built over the decades. Thick trees keeping anything from entering without me knowing, sunlight drifting down and smoke from the fire clearing out instead of making me choke.
